You may not like hip hop but don't bring race into it. I'm not thankful for rap simply because I don't like it, why should I praise anybody for creating something I don't like? Black people didn't create rap music, but some artist who happened to be black created it.
I'm not going to walk up to every black person I see and say thank you to them because they have influence in a genre of music. Rock music will always remain on top, it's almost depressing Jay Z performed at an even for rock artist.

Yeah they probably aren't, you're right. As popular as they are they don't have drinks and labels and clothing lines and all the stuff Jay has. He is the pre-eminent rapper/businessman. One of the smartest businessman on the planet. And good on him, too.

Hip-pop, grime gonna take over uk charts this decade. ouch!!
Yeah that's kinda true. As great as a rapper NaS is he's not exactly mainstream. Having said that... I'd have a hard time picking between Jigga and NaS.

The fuck you talking about "awful act". This shit was more on the lines of "amazing". Seriously. The fan's weren't singing his lyrics? You sure about that son? Go check "Hard Knock Life" out, then get at me. I'm a big hip hop and Jay Z fan, and watchin' the British public sing so loud and fluently along to his word's made me proud. The reason why everybody is going on about this "rock shit" is because Glastonbury id a fucking rock festival, not some rapper who wants to sing half of wonderwall while pretending to play the guitar
I don't get what all the fuss is about, awful performance but there is plently of other acts to see at Glastonbury if you don't like this type of music

Great post. Also, Jay Z's Glasto set crossed so many genres with the sampling he used. In that respect it reminded me of "Paul's Boutique" which is about as big a compliment you can get, really.
im glad i went to see jay-z at this years glasto it was a true glasto moment. but how ever he just did my fucking head in after 30 mins and how can you say hip hop has on when more ppl sang to wonderwall than any of his songs? think about. when he was trying to mock wonderwall u could barly here the music all you could here was ppl singing to there hearts content. ROCK WINS AGAIN
i like both hip hop and rock, but ppl at glastonbury are not likely to sing to Jay z are they? its the whitest festival ever, AND its in the UK. It just depends where you go. If you were in Jay Z's enviroment everyone would be singing to his stuff and they probably would like Oasis
I think it was a collaboration between the 2 artists, they have both definitely benefited in record sales ... artists have done it for years, more famously .. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones
Wait, was Jay-Z taking the piss on Wonderwall supposed to be a one up? The man needs to know how to write a song like that before attempting to mock it. It was completely pathetic and embarrassing for me to watch. I kind of feel sorry for him. Next?
Why do people like you feel the need to continually 'get one over' Hip-hop fans on youtube. Fair enough you if feel that Hip-hop music has poor lyrics (which is true only of Commercialized hip-hop) and does'nt qualify as music full stop as it lacks the use of musical instruments. i feel sorry for that gallagher twat, he was saying it was wrong n all, and although ticket sales were slow, Jaz got a fucking awesome reception, and performed an amazing show, his version of wonderwall was better than the original
@Jim12345678 I agree actually, but not so much better than the original, just, well thought out? headlining with the only song Oasis is famous for is a fantastic idea, and Jay-Z performing it makes it that much better.
he's the icon of hip-hop and you can say he doesn't fit the image of glast but the fact is that he took the time to go and pay his respects to his fans!
whether you like him or not you can't admit that for once a real legend headlined glastonbury!
Heck of a performance, dont see the fookin problem. Die hard Oasis fans (& Noel) are mouthy fuckers, big deal. Shame the mouth got owned on the intro.
Jay-Z sings "Today is gonna be the day that I stick my middle finger back to you. By now you should have realised that Jigga is not a fool. I dont believe that anybody sings the way I do, but I gotchu now. And all around the crowd is singing and smiling."
if he was a disrespectful rapper he would have turned down the invite to glaston08. homeboy from oasis didn't need to say all that shit. no rap at glaston? wtf? go swallow on naomi campbells big black dick oasis!

Jay-Z may be a old rich rapper, but it also show you how disrespectful rappers are. He traveled to their country to make a point? Looser!
