Quite ironic how the PS3 was hacked by some random ass hackers and personal info was taken from everyone on PSN and $ony is not able to fix it.Consoles are junks for kiddies. You can get way more out of a PC than a console.Don't get me wrong, we don't need any of you 12 year olds pouring over to us, we're fine with our community of mature people, thanks.
I Own A Mac...I play PC games all the time....ever heard of Boot Camp, I run windows 7 on the other partition...problem solved, if your going to get mad, get mad at the Apple marketing department.
@iggy3200 To be fair, it depends on your area of work, and what you do with it in your freetime. If you work in animation, or, yes, editing a video, or you like recording music, etc, mainly media based activities, then a Mac is a good choice. With a PC, it's the majority of the market, mainly for their compatibility, their ease of use with Office, and the high processor speeds, which makes gaming a dream. I tried on my mac to run a simple game. It sucked huge....Apples
I don't understand why anyone uses macs at all. Here is a short list of some of the things that make PCs better:
1)Price-You get way more from a PC for the same price (that includes most if not all companies that produce computers for windows) My friend spent $2200 on a Mac laptop and when I compared it to my $1300 PC laptop it crushed his in every way imaginable!
2)Applications-There are thousands more applications that are made for the PC than for Macs.
I hate to say this because I absolutely hate macs, but they can run games (even though hardly any games are available, haha) Some macs have the option to run an 8800gt or even a GTX 280, which honestly doesn't make sense to me. (3D rendering = PC... PC = win).
@davedotproductions well, thats not really true. Sure, I don't expect a mac to be compatible with Windows games, but there are simply not as many games out for Mac, due to the smaller fraction of the market.
Well... yes, actually. Macs typically ship with hardware a full generation behind. Whether it's a processor or a GPU, there is one that is strictly better available for PC that cannot be placed in a Mac without violating the licensing agreement. Most non-OS X operating system are also much more customizable in their interface. There are a large amount of programs that require dual-booting in order to access on a Mac which is more overhead. This doesn't mean the Mac is bad, just neither are good.
i know they suck for doing that. you have to press commend and click. that would be completely retarded when you play the mac's games-wait! the mac doesnt have any games! lol
UPGRADES oh wait you can do that on MAC its simple really 1st unplug MAC then whilst holding the machine in a swinging motion discard into garbage can2nd run to apple store and hand over 3000$ for your *upgrade* and there you have it. It's that simple!!!!!
The only thing pc people can defend pc with is they play games. Computers are made for a large variety of things, not just games. If you want to play a game go outside and do some exercise. If you don't want go outside I suggest buying a console that's what they are made for.
I'unno... I like to think software compatibility as a whole is an issue.... After all, there are thousands if not millions of programs that are incompatible with OSX. You can use Bootcamp, but ultimately you're still paying the same amount of money to Apple's main competition... just directly. Outside of graphic editing, music composition, and development for Apple based platforms... OSX is strictly equal or worse to another platform. There are advantages to OSX, but there are cons as well.
What you said about compatibility is true, but there are hundreds upon hundreds of software for PC that no one will use. You said besides graphic editing music composition, and development, well what else is there I used to think PCs were the best until I started using Mac and Linux distros. I think you should try one they're in opinion better on a lot of things. Sure they both do have major flaws there's no doubt about that but eventually you look past them.
Actually... I use both. My main operating system is the latest Ubuntu release, but that's largely because I haven't had the time to configure my Arch partition. I run Leopard on my MacBook for XCode which is a nice C and Objective-C platform (I prefer Visual Studio for C++ and NetBeans for Java). I stay away from OSX for Java development as it's consistently behind due to the competing platforms. Honestly, I just feel restricted by OSX while I'm using it which is fairly often.
You replied to me but i cant find the comment so im gonig to reply here. If you pay $2,600 for a computer i would expect it to run fast. For $2,600 i could have had a dual i7 motherboard with 12 GB of ram 2 GeForce 80 GTx in sli and 2 24" monitors.
While I can't verify CS4 or 3DS Max, I used to run Photoshop CS2, Adobe Premiere, and Cinema 4D pretty regularly on an XP machine with very little difficulty a few years ago. Occasionally I also ran Flash from Macromedia (should give you a time table) while the others were active for something quick. I'm not sure how comparable that is as I've since lost touch with most of the multimedia software, but that was a pretty heavy load for a PC to run so smoothly.
Why buy a mac if your gonna run windows? I have a machine that cost me $1,600 and the only thing comparable in mac's world was north of $3,000. And i got a 24" monitor with mine.
Not exactly true an iMac has a Core 2 Duo and I've seen people do serious multitasking with 1 gig of ram. The mac pro has 2 Intel Xeons those machines a lightning fast and it comes with 4 gigs of ram. Itś price is about $2600
lol - i laugh at mac users : nothing works for macs straight up - they all need special codeing and software : so in a way, Macs are the Special Needs children of the Digital Age :D /pat *gently pats Mac on the head*
Sorry but no, it's a custom PC case. More specifically a silver Linkworld tower that I painted metallic black and blue, added fan controls, and a windows with the Imperial symbol etched into the glass. I like handles, for carrying it around, so I went with this type of case.
If you look closely you can tell the difference.
I built the entire system and I assure you it is not a Mac. I have a Mac Mini though, it sits on my desk next to this Windows PC.
hahahah im laughing right now so hard because so many pissed off mac fanboys are just mad because they know macs suck ass at EVERYTHING (not just gaming) compared to a PC
i just have an acer aspire one for my laptop and a HP Pavillion with vista and some other computer i dont remember the name but it has xp 2gb ram like 200gb hard drive and quad core and i actually use my laptop as my primary and it has 2 cpu's and 8gb video card :) and 160gb harddrive and 1gb ram and webcam asll for $300 total!
Is this commentary section where every PC owner comes together to wack off about someone else's specs? It seems like that to me.
What does it mean to anybody?!! I have a duel processing mother fooking 256,000 GB RAM Intel Thousand 356,000 GB memory Alienware piece of ***. See, that's insightful.
Who said PC is better for video and audio editing? Thats dumb. What pisses pc users off is mac users telling us how bad ass macs are. Im not sure why people with oem pc's argue. But the small circle im part of that builds our own pcs to strictly game cant use a mac to do that. I know you can run Windows on mac but you cant build a mac from the motherboard up. You cant build a next gen rig for under 4grand.
I build a top end pc for 1900$ in may 2008 i priced macs, i couldnt even build one with close to what the pc had. i did build one close to it and it was over 4000$ and offered alot less then what the pc had as far a hardware. If i didnt game i would own nothing but macs. I Game so i need to run a PC.
Mac users are usally artist and are not dumb. the people that call mac users dumb are unable to explain a valid reason for using a pc over a mac
"they are rushed out and shuved down everyones throats while mac takes time and puts the love into each one "
You're a total moron. Many PC games took YEARS to develop. Nothing rushed about them. Crysis is the best game to ever hit the computer world, yes, I think it could be better than you apple puzzle game.
Nobody in the gaming world gives a fuck about apple. Mac games are 5 year old PC games.
For the last time, Macs can run your precious PC games just as well as your PCs. Stop beating the dead horse already.
If the gaming world didn't give a fuck about Apple, there wouldn't be so much work going on to port Windows games to OS X seamlessly. Before too long, developers are going to use OpenGL to create games for both platforms, just like Blizzard. DirectX will soon wither and die, just like the Zune.
What is it with Apple Fans? You don't see PC users acting like they worship Bill Gates. It's just hardware and software, but Apple Fans act like they have an actual stake in in Mac doing well and try to convert people like it's a religion. You can use what ever system you want, and you can love it, but stop trying to push it on others and act like your superior and that PC users are retarded.
Well, generally speaking, PC users are ignorant (not in a derogatory sense) of the Mac. On the other hand, most Mac users have been long time PC users before finding the joys of using a Mac. That is exactly why we enjoy sharing that joy with others. It's quite simple, really.
Windows was made to work on an unlimited amount of hardware configurations. OSX wad designed to work on Apple hardware only. That is why it is so stable. If OSX was opened up for PC users it would grow to be just as large as Vista and be less stable for it. Don't assume OSX is better just because it works well in the tiny universe it exists in.
Unlimited hardware configurations? Mac OS X runs on three different processor platforms, seamlessly. Intel, IBM PowerPC and ARM, both 32 and 64-bit. Microsoft can't even get 32/64-bit right. Mac OS X supports countless pieces of hardware, usually without installing drivers. What Mac OS X doesn't support is thousands of shitty Windows-only webcams and other cheap Wal-Mart hardware that Mac users don't care about.
games, autocad, windows messenger with full features , a wider range of of computers to select , the fact that 90% of the world agree with me and my sister has a mac and she is begging me to trade with her and im like hell no . only thing i like about apple is ipod and itunes. iphone was a disaster .
When you consider that Mac run Windows (and better than most PCs), we have access to more software than any PC user. 90% of the world (and dropping) just doesn't know any better because they've never seen a Mac, let alone used one. Your sister is obviously a nut. Mac users don't want to give up their Macs for any PC. And how has the iPhone been a disaster? I can't wait to hear this one. In the short time it's been on the market, it's decimated the Windows Mobile platform.
haha ok. let me explain to you why the iphone i bought then sold in the black market was a disaster. it has a 2MP camera that can't record video. the iphon battery life is like 15 minuts. half the crap didn't work properly and it does not have access to 3G or 3.5G networks. the iphone is big and heavy and only thing it brought to the market was a ripoff touch screen that the LG Prada already introduced. older phones already went into the 5MP camera market. and the momory cant be expanded.
1. Compared to other mobiles, the iPhone camera takes awesome photos. Video will come soon enough, and when it does, it won't look like ass.
2. No, the battery life is not 15 minutes.
3. The iPhone works pretty damn well, just like OS X because it is OS X.
4. The iPhone's EDGE has already been shown to be faster than other 3G+ mobiles. Why? OS X and Safari is faster on the iPhone than the shit they throw on other mobiles.
1.iphones camera has a 2mp camera that dosent capture video. sony ericsson and nokia are already in the 5MP market and going to 7.2 ,they both capture video.
2. ok 5 hour talk time which is shitty in any standard.
3.OSX is good
4. 3G is 3 times faster then EDGE and 3.5G (7.2MBPS)is 10 times faster then EDGE
5. LG is pissed at apple for stealing the pradas idea. in technology i trust the asians.
6.you are right about megapixel but still the image size is too small.
1. There's nothing wrong with the iPhone's camera.
2. It has powerful hardware, more so than other handsets.
3. Thank you.
4. The network may be faster, but Safari still loads pages faster than 3G mobiles. Videos prove it, look for one.
5. Apple invented the PDA a long ass time ago. The Newton had a touch interface. LG wasn't in the market back then. Japan can't beat Apple, look at the iPod.
6. The iPhone takes good looking photos. They're good enough for me.
1.iphones camera has a 2mp camera that dosent capture video. sony ericsson and nokia are already in the 5MP market and going to 7.2 ,they both capture video.
2. ok 5 hour talk time which is shitty in any standard.

6.you are right about megapixel but still the image size is too small.
5. Apple has been working on the technology behind the iPhone since before LG ever made mobiles. Apple's touch technology goes all the way back to the very first PDA, the Apple Newton. That said, don't try to blow smoke up my ass, it's not going to work. If I'm correct, the LG also lacks multi-touch capabilities.
6. The shear number of "megapixels" doesn't automatically translate into better looking photos.
7. I don't know any other mobiles that give you 12GB of memory, expanded or not.
7.there are 32GB SD cards available already, there should be room for expansion in the future. if iphone was made by any other company i wouldnt complain about the iphone if it had a more resonable price. in the mean time check out sony ericssons k810 which was pre iphone and the newer k850. and also check nokia's N95. half the price maybe no touch screen but its still a better deal.
AT&T doesn't subsidize the iPhone, that's why iPhone contracts are cheaper. Again, other mobile makers won't update their software. Once you buy a Nokia or Sony, that's it, you're stuck with those features until the handset dies. I can live with 12GB. I'm living with an 8GB iPod nano right now, and I love it. Holds all the music I listen to, plus three or four DVD rips. In the long run, with the cheaper plan, the iPhone will end up being the better deal, trust me. Do the math.
im pretty sure apple will fix the problem in the next generation of iphones. they fixed the old ipods the old macs. apple is going somewhere. but as a general rule to apple or any other company, never buy the first generation of anything. let them work the bugs out and release again .
Apple doesn't do too bad with first-generation hardware. They did put an awful lot of time into the iPhone. It shows. There may have been a few bugs here and there, but there's been a number of iPhone software updates. They come fairly consistently. Apple is very rapid with their software development. Look how many releases of OS X there have been between Windows XP and Vista. Don't forget to count the Intel release of Tiger and the iPhone's version of Leopard.
to close this argument. would you at least agree that apple could have done a better job? . i like vista but it still has a few crinkles that need to be ironed out. windows power is also its greatist weakness, because of the many users arround the world viruses spread like wild fire. either way, 64bit is the way to go wether its OS X or vista or XP . 32 bit has been overtaken by hackers
I really can't agree. I think they did a wonderful job on the iPhone. It was a very ambitious product and they pulled it off well.
Windows weakness is the fact that Microsoft doesn't know how to write an OS. They bought DOS, stole the original Windows from Apple and have been building Windows on old technology for ages. The security problems stem from the fact that Microsoft built Windows to have so many open doors for networking use and never envisioned the openness of the internet.
What I mean is that they left all of these holes open because they never envisioned Windows outside of a small office network. Couple that with the fact that they keep building Windows on older releases, never writing a new OS from scratch, and you have a huge security problem. I remember a story about Vista being susceptible to a boot sector virus from the days of Windows 3.1! 64-bit has it's advantages, but Microsoft hasn't dealt very well with it. Apple's solution is pretty damn flawless.
By flawless, I mean that the fact that Mac developers can distribute applications for PowerPC/Intel/32/64 all in one universal package, that's pretty awesome. Vista 64 still lacks hardware drivers and software. Yeah, it can run 32-bit applications, but not natively. They have to run in an emulation layer. With Mac OS X, 32-bit applications run natively, even on a 64-bit Mac. Sorry, but I think Apple is doing a much better job with the 64-bit migration. Hell, they're practically done.
And that's another reason Apple is able to outpace Microsoft. Apple doesn't tie itself down with legacy hardware/software. When Apple adopts a new standard or moves onto a different software platform, they don't hold on to the legacy shit. This is why Macs have made the move to EFI and PCs are still using the BIOS. Microsoft just can't get the PC manufacturers to drop the BIOS, despite EFI's advantages. I love the fact that Macs don't have legacy IO. Everything is current standards.
Microsoft, on the other hand, has to support software from twenty years ago. That's bad for end users. Today's consumers really don't care if their PCs can run twenty year old database software. Windows is like a really bad pack rat while OS X is like a minimalist "out with the old, in with the new", streamlined OS. It's great that each new release of OS X actually seems to run faster than the previous release. It's been the case for me upgrading from Panther to Tiger and Tiger to Leopard.
And all the memory in the world wouldn't mean shit to me if the UI sucked. That's another great thing about the iPhone. The fact that the entire UI is based on a touch screen, the iPhone's UI can evolve and change based on consumer's needs, something that Apple will do and has already done. You NEVER see Nokia or Motorola offering software upgrades for their phones. There's no incentive for them to do so. The iPhone will continue to evolve, and that's good for consumers.
Well, of course. That's not the point. The point is that the iPhone's software is more powerful and faster. Safari loads pages much faster than any other handset, regardless of the network it's on. To my knowledge, no other mobile even has a real, full featured web browser. Even on OS X and Windows, Safari with it's WebKit rendering engine loads pages faster than any other browser.
The iPhone or other mobiles? I've never heard of a software update for any other mobile handset. The other mobile manufacturers don't give a rats ass about the end user experience. The iPhone will receive software updates for a very long time. Hell, Apple still updates OS X Panther. They don't have to, but they do. Apple's incentive to improve their software is the fact that they make money on hardware, not software. Their hardware sales subsidize their software development.
You make a good point, but it is taste. The Apple II was the market leader long ago. Now there's a PC subculture, (Not just Windows). PC users are of two groups. 1: Casual users who buys cheap. 2: Enthusiast users, (build their own machines or configure options). Mac users are of two groups also. 1. Casual Users who (Mac is cool & don't care about price). 2. Enthusiast users who identify with Apple lifestyle.
Nothing wrong with these people, but they should have a sense of humor about it.
I'd rather build a Linux gaming rig and play games in Wine--faster than on the PC, because Linux doesn't devour your resources--than use Windows as an excuse to feed a gaming addiction. If you weren't a mindless consumer, you'd empower yourself. But you're just a slave. Your parents probably pay for every game and piece of hardware anyway, so why do you care? In the adult world, time is money, son. Bend over, Trans-Vista-Ite. Billy owns your ass.
Have you ever noticed how Linux people treat their OS as a religion? And are always eager to convert everyone? Not to mention the constant bashing and exaggeration of rumors and facts to derride their "enemy"
I always hate it when a Linux user stops by and begins a Holier-than-thou sermon. Its like one of the requirements of using Linux is to get a Superiority trip and bash anyone else for being different. Gotta love that old time Religious intolerance, Go Linuxism!
Bullshit, it is not faster. I've run Wine on Debian and it was a huge pain in the ass to even get games to run, and when they did, they were usually very buggy. I can get windows xp to run on 18MB RAM, with a GUI. The "less resources" excuse is bullshit.
You say that time is money, but if that's what you really believe, then why do you waste your time fucking off with Linux?
Lame excuse used by Mac users that PC's get viruses...well duh, if you're a braindead moron who downloads every shit that he can find and runs it, then yes, you'll get viruses. I've been virus free on my PC since 2000. And that's when I first started serious PC gaming. What's the point of getting a shiny OS just to not be able to use it if you want to play games?
I couldn't agree with you more. If someone is retarded enough to not get a decent anti-virus program for their PC if they plan on downloading things off of LimeWire or playing online then they really shouldn't be using one.
I've always hated that, "I'm a Mac. I don't get viruses," shit. If Macs were people they'd be the men out there saying to their girlfriends, "Don't worry. No condom necessary. Can't get STD's or get you pregnant."
It's a matter of preference. What's so hard to understand? Some people like Windows, some Mac, and some like BSD/Linux. And some really weird people still use Amigas.
how about a xbox 360 we have exclusive D/L content and we can hook up with a . . . OMG this is a SHOCKER we can hook up with a PC and stream our vids movies and pics to our 360's - a note to all anti windows people
Pity they couldn't be honest in the criticism: PCs are not "built for games", the vast majority of them come with crappy onboard rubbishy graphics cards, you have to pay through your nose to get a decent gaming system. That says nothing about the forced upgrade cycles by changing hardware interfaces all the time e.g. AGP to PCI Express.
Would you like to insult me for buying the wrong curtains or drinking the wrong lager? Market competition makes products better/ cheaper.I want Mac to do well, so that Microsoft will cut better deals, and vica versa.
So what, PC Gamers are geeks because they expose themsleves to modern interactive culture in some of their spare time? Mac users, however, who troll the internet ingratiating themselves by criticizing those who cannot afford or do not chose the same product, are not?
So the basic point here is: you never use PC's for serious stuff, but for games, that way i can come out with a better kick ass name as...uh ..let me think OH YEA!! WIN-TENDO!!!! GET A GOD DAMN LIFE YOU GAMERS!!
Why pay more for less? PC costs less and does everything from work to play. There are comparable programs to everything in iLife, and even combined with the cost of a powerful PC a similar Mac is overpriced. If apple was smart they would sell OSX to PC users. The market is a galaxy bigger.
Well hey all those are liek sooo different from PC stuff like the PC Ones are like all full of viruses and Macs just give ya a few warnings.Plus im a Mac User what do you have against Steve Jobbs he created both Mac and PC.He just wanted the Mac to have less problems than PCs.Go Macs Anyway at least they have decent stuff and goo things like the iPhone teh Apple TV and all that!(I HATE PC USERS =P)
The real competition is not between the Mac and the PC, it is between the mass produced discount boxes from Dell and such and the handmade, hand-tuned PC such as those from Falcon Northwest. If I tried playing the games I play on my Falcon on my Dell at work, it would blow up.
thats funny but ... i am a mac + windows user .. i use my mac for everything .. thanks to boot camp .. so now i can play all my windows games on my mac :D
i build my own computers it you try to build a mac wow everyone will laugh at you. there is just no such things as getting mac parts pc is the way to go trust me
I agree with fiddlestick971 pc's are way more upgradeable and customizable than mac's are. Who wants to spend their $ and be stuck with hardware some big corp gives you and tell you your limited in purchasing upgraded part till we decide to build a new machine with new specs. I know I don't...
Sie sind dumm. Macs are nothing more then expensive consoles with no games to play. Think about it, it's like buying a PS3, it's expensive and limited. You don't know how it works, but you don't care, "it's Cool", and it only runs software the company lets you. PC, on the other hand gives you so many choices in both software and hardware that it makes anything Apple produces look like a toy. An expensive, flashy, all look the same, conformist toy.
Exactly. Macs are the computer embodiment of evil in my mind..to me, more so because Macs will never tell you what's wrong with them. If it crashes, it tells you 'Attention: Error' but that translates to 'Attention: Error, but you don't need to know, don't want to know, and everything is done for you, so shut up and have a nice day'.
Well while ill agree that Macs do suck...Windows errors are about as helpful i mean come on- This program has crash to view more info click here *click heres a bunch of random Hex coding that you wont understand but im sure someone at Microsoft will care if you send in this error report click here to send error report *click you have sent an error report to view the report click here *click - random code.
But then again, most people just buy Macs so they have something to use their iPod with before its battery goes dead permanently and they have to buy another one because you can't replace it and Apple's warranty only lasts 90 days. Apple produkte sind für kinder, die kühl schauen möchten und sich nicht interessieren, daß es nur ein Spielzeug ist.
That's stupid, Macs aren't only toys or did you think that designers buy Macs to play games on it. That's ridiculous when you use a dictionary to say that I'm stupid or that I only buy a mac to be cool. Both isn't right. Macs are better in creativ stuff and pcs are better in cases like get viruses or play games for stupid people like you. Und ich schaue immer kühl weißt du ^
The "Buy a Mac" ads are NOT aimed at professionals, they are aimed at home users in the hopes to trick them into thinking that Macs are better then PCs. Apple is full of lies, and anybody with half a mind can see that the software selection is far greater and that the hardware is much more reasonably priced for PC. Zahlen Sie mehr, erhalten Sie kleiner. Die Apple Weise.
Never used a mac :| so I don`t now what to say but I like my PC. I don`t know what is the difrence dough... :| What can`t a mac do insted the PC?? But I will keep my PC I like it the way it is :D
Everyone i know who had an ipod had told me their ipod has broken, my friend's screen went all "inky" and my girlfriend's ipod says it only has 83MB space free when she has like 20 songs
Why are all of your videos comments 15 lines long?

The "gamers" argument against Mac doesn't make sense...
would you people honestly expect your "Xbox 360" games to
work in a PS3? (!!) of course not!!!!
Just like switching from PC to Mac, you have to re-buy every
game you ran on the previous system, and if it doesn't exist...
sorry, tough luck! Don't blame the Mac for it not being
compatible, blame who ever developed the game.
If playing games on a Mac is really all that important to you, then complain to the game developers!

I hate to say this because I absolutely hate macs, but they can run games (even though hardly any games are available, haha) Some macs have the option to run an 8800gt or even a GTX 280, which honestly doesn't make sense to me. (3D rendering = PC... PC = win).
a7x5631 2 years ago
@davedotproductions well, thats not really true. Sure, I don't expect a mac to be compatible with Windows games, but there are simply not as many games out for Mac, due to the smaller fraction of the market.

starcraft2zergfan 2 years ago
I was agreeing with you, just adding that you could build the best desktop possible with that money as well.
limulus54 2 years ago
yeah, that is true. with a gaming PC, you can run MAC's on it if you want using an application called VMWare :)
starcraft2zergfan 2 years ago
yeah real solid facts oops i mean fact.
windows has more games than mac...
is there anything else a pc has on a mac?
moderateexitement45 2 years ago
Well... yes, actually.

The only thing pc people can defend pc with is they play games. Computers are made for a large variety of things, not just games. If you want to play a game go outside and do some exercise. If you don't want go outside I suggest buying a console that's what they are made for.
TheDustBulder 2 years ago
ScruffyBarker 2 years ago
What you said about compatibility is true, but there are hundreds upon hundreds of software for PC that no one will use. You said besides graphic editing music composition, and development, well what else is there I used to think PCs were the best until I started using Mac and Linux distros. I think you should try one they're in opinion better on a lot of things. Sure they both do have major flaws there's no doubt about that but eventually you look past them.
TheDustBulder 2 years ago
Actually...
ScruffyBarker 2 years ago
You replied to me but i cant find the comment so im gonig to reply here. If you pay $2,600 for a computer i would expect it to run fast. For $2,600 i could have had a dual i7 motherboard with 12 GB of ram 2 GeForce 80 GTx in sli and 2 24" monitors.
TnT3Ds 2 years ago
Also, when you speak of multitasking i doubt they are the same programs that i am multitasking with.
And i will venture to say that no computer Apple or PC could multitask Unreal ed 3, photoshop CS4, 3ds max, and zbrush.
I dont consider running itunes and word multitasking.
TnT3Ds 2 years ago
While I can't verify CS4 or 3DS Max, I used to run Photoshop CS2, Adobe Premiere, and Cinema 4D pretty regularly on an XP machine with very little difficulty a few years ago. Occasionally I also ran Flash from Macromedia (should give you a time table) while the others were active for something quick. I'm not sure how comparable that is as I've since lost touch with most of the multimedia software, but that was a pretty heavy load for a PC to run so smoothly.

You cant build a next gen rig for under 4grand.
nerfthegop 2 years ago
I build a top end pc for 1900$ in may 2008 i priced macs, i couldnt even build one with close to what the pc had. i did build one close to it and it was over 4000$ and offered alot less then what the pc had as far a hardware.
UbiquitousGeek 4 years ago
What is it with Apple Fans? You don't see PC users acting like they worship Bill Gates. It's just hardware and software, but Apple Fans act like they have an actual stake in in Mac doing well and try to convert people like it's a religion. You can use what ever system you want, and you can love it, but stop trying to push it on others and act like your superior and that PC users are retarded.
dutyfreelancer 4 years ago
Well, generally speaking, PC users are ignorant (not in a derogatory sense) of the Mac. On the other hand, most Mac users have been long time PC users before finding the joys of using a Mac. That is exactly why we enjoy sharing that joy with others. It's quite simple, really.
MacGeeek 3 years ago
Windows was made to work on an unlimited amount of hardware configurations. OSX wad designed to work on Apple hardware only. That is why it is so stable. If OSX was opened up for PC users it would grow to be just as large as Vista and be less stable for it. Don't assume OSX is better just because it works well in the tiny universe it exists in.
fanfilmfan4000 4 years ago
Unlimited hardware configurations? Mac OS X runs on three different processor platforms, seamlessly. Intel, IBM PowerPC and ARM, both 32 and 64-bit. Microsoft can't even get 32/64-bit right. Mac OS X supports countless pieces of hardware, usually without installing drivers. What Mac OS X doesn't support is thousands of shitty Windows-only webcams and other cheap Wal-Mart hardware that Mac users don't care about.

787maverick 3 years ago
When you consider that Mac run Windows (and better than most PCs), we have access to more software than any PC user. 90% of the world (and dropping) just doesn't know any better because they've never seen a Mac, let alone used one. Your sister is obviously a nut. Mac users don't want to give up their Macs for any PC. And how has the iPhone been a disaster? I can't wait to hear this one. In the short time it's been on the market, it's decimated the Windows Mobile platform.
MacGeeek 3 years ago
haha ok. let me explain to you why the iphone i bought then sold in the black market was a disaster. it has a 2MP camera that can't record video. the iphon battery life is like 15 minuts. half the crap didn't work properly and it does not have access to 3G or 3.5G networks. the iphone is big and heavy and only thing it brought to the market was a ripoff touch screen that the LG Prada already introduced. older phones already went into the 5MP camera market. and the momory cant be expanded.
787maverick 3 years ago
RoFL.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
1.iphones camera has a 2mp camera that dosent capture video. sony ericsson and nokia are already in the 5MP market and going to 7.2 ,they both capture video.
2. ok 5 hour talk time which is shitty in any standard.
3.OSX is good
4. 3G is 3 times faster then EDGE and 3.5G (7.2MBPS)is 10 times faster then EDGE
5. LG is pissed at apple for stealing the pradas idea. in technology i trust the asians.
6.you are right about megapixel but still the image size is too small.
787maverick 3 years ago
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago

787maverick 3 years ago
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
7.there are 32GB SD cards available already, there should be room for expansion in the future. if iphone was made by any other company i wouldnt complain about the iphone if it had a more resonable price. in the mean time check out sony ericssons k810 which was pre iphone and the newer k850. and also check nokia's N95. half the price maybe no touch screen but its still a better deal.
787maverick 3 years ago
AT&T doesn't subsidize the iPhone, that's why iPhone contracts are cheaper. Again, other mobile makers won't update their software. Once you buy a Nokia or Sony, that's it, you're stuck with those features until the handset dies. I can live with 12GB. I'm living with an 8GB iPod nano right now, and I love it. Holds all the music I listen to, plus three or four DVD rips. In the long run, with the cheaper plan, the iPhone will end up being the better deal, trust me. Do the math.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
im pretty sure apple will fix the problem in the next generation of iphones. they fixed the old ipods the old macs. apple is going somewhere. but as a general rule to apple or any other company, never buy the first generation of anything. let them work the bugs out and release again .
787maverick 3 years ago
Apple doesn't do too bad with first-generation hardware. They did put an awful lot of time into the iPhone. It shows. There may have been a few bugs here and there, but there's been a number of iPhone software updates. They come fairly consistently. Apple is very rapid with their software development. Look how many releases of OS X there have been between Windows XP and Vista. Don't forget to count the Intel release of Tiger and the iPhone's version of Leopard.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
to close this argument. would you at least agree that apple could have done a better job? . i like vista but it still has a few crinkles that need to be ironed out. windows power is also its greatist weakness, because of the many users arround the world viruses spread like wild fire. either way, 64bit is the way to go wether its OS X or vista or XP . 32 bit has been overtaken by hackers
787maverick 3 years ago
I really can't agree. I think they did a wonderful job on the iPhone. It was a very ambitious product and they pulled it off well.
Windows weakness is the fact that Microsoft doesn't know how to write an OS. They bought DOS, stole the original Windows from Apple and have been building Windows on old technology for ages. The security problems stem from the fact that Microsoft built Windows to have so many open doors for networking use and never envisioned the openness of the internet.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
What I mean is that they left all of these holes open because they never envisioned Windows outside of a small office network. Couple that with the fact that they keep building Windows on older releases, never writing a new OS from scratch, and you have a huge security problem. I remember a story about Vista being susceptible to a boot sector virus from the days of Windows 3.1! 64-bit has it's advantages, but Microsoft hasn't dealt very well with it. Apple's solution is pretty damn flawless.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
By flawless, I mean that the fact that Mac developers can distribute applications for PowerPC/Intel/32/64 all in one universal package, that's pretty awesome. Vista 64 still lacks hardware drivers and software. Yeah, it can run 32-bit applications, but not natively. They have to run in an emulation layer. With Mac OS X, 32-bit applications run natively, even on a 64-bit Mac. Sorry, but I think Apple is doing a much better job with the 64-bit migration. Hell, they're practically done.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
And that's another reason Apple is able to outpace Microsoft. Apple doesn't tie itself down with legacy hardware/software. When Apple adopts a new standard or moves onto a different software platform, they don't hold on to the legacy shit. This is why Macs have made the move to EFI and PCs are still using the BIOS. Microsoft just can't get the PC manufacturers to drop the BIOS, despite EFI's advantages. I love the fact that Macs don't have legacy IO. Everything is current standards.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
Microsoft, on the other hand, has to support software from twenty years ago. That's bad for end users. Today's consumers really don't care if their PCs can run twenty year old database software. Windows is like a really bad pack rat while OS X is like a minimalist "out with the old, in with the new", streamlined OS. It's great that each new release of OS X actually seems to run faster than the previous release. It's been the case for me upgrading from Panther to Tiger and Tiger to Leopard.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
And all the memory in the world wouldn't mean shit to me if the UI sucked. That's another great thing about the iPhone. The fact that the entire UI is based on a touch screen, the iPhone's UI can evolve and change based on consumer's needs, something that Apple will do and has already done. You NEVER see Nokia or Motorola offering software upgrades for their phones. There's no incentive for them to do so. The iPhone will continue to evolve, and that's good for consumers.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
one last thing, almost every 3G phone can use EDGE as well.
787maverick 3 years ago
Well, of course. That's not the point. The point is that the iPhone's software is more powerful and faster. Safari loads pages much faster than any other handset, regardless of the network it's on. To my knowledge, no other mobile even has a real, full featured web browser. Even on OS X and Windows, Safari with it's WebKit rendering engine loads pages faster than any other browser.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago
it will evolve as much as what the hardware may support
787maverick 3 years ago
it will evolve as much as what the hardware may support
787maverick 3 years ago
The iPhone or other mobiles? I've never heard of a software update for any other mobile handset. The other mobile manufacturers don't give a rats ass about the end user experience. The iPhone will receive software updates for a very long time. Hell, Apple still updates OS X Panther. They don't have to, but they do. Apple's incentive to improve their software is the fact that they make money on hardware, not software. Their hardware sales subsidize their software development.
UbiquitousGeek 3 years ago

Billy owns your ass.
keytoothed 4 years ago
Have you ever noticed how Linux people treat their OS as a religion? And are always eager to convert everyone? Not to mention the constant bashing and exaggeration of rumors and facts to derride their "enemy"
I always hate it when a Linux user stops by and begins a Holier-than-thou sermon. Its like one of the requirements of using Linux is to get a Superiority trip and bash anyone else for being different. Gotta love that old time Religious intolerance, Go Linuxism!
RokeTanuki 4 years ago
Bullshit, it is not faster. I've run Wine on Debian and it was a huge pain in the ass to even get games to run, and when they did, they were usually very buggy. I can get windows xp to run on 18MB RAM, with a GUI. The "less resources" excuse is bullshit.
You say that time is money, but if that's what you really believe, then why do you waste your time fucking off with Linux?
Anhaedra 4 years ago
Lame excuse used by Mac users that PC's get viruses...well duh, if you're a braindead moron who downloads every shit that he can find and runs it, then yes, you'll get viruses. I've been virus free on my PC since 2000. And that's when I first started serious PC gaming. What's the point of getting a shiny OS just to not be able to use it if you want to play games?
lahdhidah 4 years ago
I couldn't agree with you more. If someone is retarded enough to not get a decent anti-virus program for their PC if they plan on downloading things off of LimeWire or playing online then they really shouldn't be using one.

AGP to PCI Express.
woodworm76 5 years ago
you can get a good gaming system for around $800

Would you like to insult me for buying the wrong curtains or drinking the wrong lager? Market competition makes products better/ cheaper.I want Mac to do well, so that Microsoft will cut better deals, and vica versa.
dannyg001 5 years ago
I agree. If it wasn't for competition then we would still be running 486s.
dandamanabbafan 5 years ago
So what, PC Gamers are geeks because they expose themsleves to modern interactive culture in some of their spare time? Mac users, however, who troll the internet ingratiating themselves by criticizing those who cannot afford or do not chose the same product, are not?
dannyg001 5 years ago
So the basic point here is: you never use PC's for serious stuff, but for games, that way i can come out with a better kick ass name as...uh ..let me think OH YEA!! WIN-TENDO!!!! GET A GOD DAMN LIFE YOU GAMERS!!
jofdeles 5 years ago

Okami266 4 years ago
The real competition is not between the Mac and the PC, it is between the mass produced discount boxes from Dell and such and the handmade, hand-tuned PC such as those from Falcon Northwest. If I tried playing the games I play on my Falcon on my Dell at work, it would blow up.

thats funny but ... i am a mac + windows user .. i use my mac for everything .. thanks to boot camp .. so now i can play all my windows games on my mac :D

i build my own computers it you try to build a mac wow everyone will laugh at you. there is just no such things as getting mac parts pc is the way to go trust me
fiddlesticks971 5 years ago
I agree with fiddlestick971 pc's are way more upgradeable and customizable than mac's are. Who wants to spend their $ and be stuck with hardware some big corp gives you and tell you your limited in purchasing upgraded part till we decide to build a new machine with new specs. I know I don't...

Es gibt zwar mehr Spiel für den Pc , aber hallo schon mal was von Spielkonsolen gehört ? Mac rulez . Windows is a copy !!!
peas101 5 years ago
Sie sind dumm. Macs are nothing more then expensive consoles with no games to play. Think about it, it's like buying a PS3, it's expensive and limited. You don't know how it works, but you don't care, "it's Cool", and it only runs software the company lets you. PC, on the other hand gives you so many choices in both software and hardware that it makes anything Apple produces look like a toy. An expensive, flashy, all look the same, conformist toy.
duralhansel 5 years ago
TikTac 5 years ago
Well while ill agree that Macs do suck...Windows errors are about as helpful i mean come on- This program has crash to view more info click here *click heres a bunch of random Hex coding that you wont understand but im sure someone at Microsoft will care if you send in this error report click here to send error report *click you have sent an error report to view the report click here *click - random code.

But then again, most people just buy Macs so they have something to use their iPod with before its battery goes dead permanently and they have to buy another one because you can't replace it and Apple's warranty only lasts 90 days. Apple produkte sind für kinder, die kühl schauen möchten und sich nicht interessieren, daß es nur ein Spielzeug ist.
duralhansel 5 years ago
That's stupid, Macs aren't only toys or did you think that designers buy Macs to play games on it. That's ridiculous when you use a dictionary to say that I'm stupid or that I only buy a mac to be cool. Both isn't right. Macs are better in creativ stuff and pcs are better in cases like get viruses or play games for stupid people like you. Und ich schaue immer kühl weißt du ^
peas101 5 years ago
The "Buy a Mac" ads are NOT aimed at professionals, they are aimed at home users in the hopes to trick them into thinking that Macs are better then PCs. Apple is full of lies, and anybody with half a mind can see that the software selection is far greater and that the hardware is much more reasonably priced for PC. Zahlen Sie mehr, erhalten Sie kleiner. Die Apple Weise.
duralhansel 5 years ago
lol zing! go PC! mac thinks they are all that. but they arn't its funny to watch all their stuff on tv and just sit there and laugh at the lies
darthkimball 5 years ago
This is true. There are almost NO games for mac.
hubomba 5 years ago
The fact is Mac users have too much time on their hands and respond to this too much, and PC users are off playing REAL Games.

Did you hear, iPods have shipped with a virus? So much for the Apple being safe. The iPods were infected before they even went to stores.

they were infected with a WINDOWS virus maybe you should research a little better although HOW it got there i'm not sure.
