  • favourite set work

  • I'm from Algeria,i love listening to Karen Matheson cose she has a magnificent voice despite i don't undertstand of scottish or irish,as a matter of fact, the Celtic music is great to listen to!!

  • what interval does the chorus land in?

  • accordians for the win! gcse music not so much.... :/

  • thumbs up if you studied this for GCSE Music :)

  • the only songs i loved wer thid 1 and grace and why dus my hart feel so bad

  • @SikforSenses Schoenburg? Really? and while i admit that Moby may not be the most interesting song, it's certainly the easiest.

  • I love this song and 'grace' :) If I get miles davies all blue for the writing part of the exam I will cry.

  • Interesting, used as a waulking song it would go at two or three times this speed, one hell of a lick, bang .. bang .. bang .. bang ... One lady would sing out the lines (sometimes whatever came into her head) the rest would come in on the refrains --- much the way some sea shanties worked. Interestingly I've heard it suggested that some waulking songs were adapted from earlier men's rowing songs, but speeded up. Hearing it slowed down like this it does rather suggest a rowing rhythm. Beachd?

  • My favourite music GCSE song!

  • nobody can understand what she is saying, time signature of 12/8, G maj, entirely diatonic. That's all I know :O

  • exam on tuesday, this is my favourite piece!!!

  • @listhopper56

    same

    good luck

  • This one's quite bearable. I hate Moby though :/

  • so unbelievably out of sync...

  • This is the only song I've actually got high marks for in my whole gcse in music. Lovely song. Sad though that my Scottish boyfriend can't sing it :( but he knows it well. Lovely song though the fact that it's an Irish story sung in Scottish Gaelic confuses me.

  • lol GCSE music this is my favourite out of them

  • i prefer listening to my own farts

  • @y24d Do they let you use computers now? They'll be letting you play with knives next!

  • hey Mr. Robson... this is cool

  • thumbs up if gcse music brought you here

  • Thank you for uploading this song because it's helping me with my GCSE coursework about world music. I find the Gaelic language both beautiful and graceful yet mighty, just as this song is. Although GCSE music is difficult due to the amount of coursework, it is a useful, enjoyable skill and you learn about many amazing songs such as this one.

  • @jleer1

i do gcse music i am studying this as a set work for my AoS4 my exam is this tuesday and good luck for yours :) x

  • @aabigail54 Thank you, and good luck with yours :) x

  • @jleer1 Mate - I completely agree. Though this saved my life for my own GCSE, I was strongest on this one, purely because of my facination for the language, and the culture. plus, it is jsut such a beautiful piece. I was the only one in the class to actually enjoy it.

  • back looking at this for gcse... on a side note, does the video not believe in being in time with the audio?

  • The "waulking" songs were sung by the women when they were pounding out the tweed. It's a working song. Usually sung at a faster tempo but you know how they like to take the old tunes and put their spin on them which I just love. Keeps them alive.

  • it's spelt "skye waUlking"

  • @AzulaGrondin omg is this guy serious?

  • @danell12345 first of all, i'm a girl. second of all, yes. i'm serious, considering the spelling changes the meaning of the word. walking: moving about on 2 feet. waulking: pounding tweed cloth against a board to soften it.

  • wats this song about?? i need to no for my course work(gcse)

  • it's spelt "skye waulking"

    notice the 'u'

  • sexiest woman alive, with a voice to match.
