That guy's speech about his father sounded scripted. Spontaneous breakthroughs and confessions are a lot more plausible in fiction; in reality shows they sound self-serving and insincere - people imitating what they've seen in the movies. And the producers were eager to jump on it with cheesy music and editing. You'd never see that crap in the UK version of the show.

Totally rubbish. Either scripted or, as stated, imitating what he THINKS sounds good for the TV.
Remember, the ending of this show (No spoilers, but you'll see at the end of this episode)... reality TV is often expoiltative of gullible people, but its often forgotten people use Reality TV to launch what they hope will be media careers or for financial gain - people exploit reality TV just as much and I feel thats whats happened here.

It was rumored Peter's wife contacted the producer for this restaurant to be selected.The show was entertaining but the truth is Peter's family & friends are pissed at him for bad mouthing his father who died in 2004.Nick R.I.P,Peter was married in 2006 to this person who never met Nick.Hope Peter & wife enjoy nowing they made lots of money with discracing the fathers name on national TV!

I think FOX makes its reality TV shows way too dramatic. I did like this Kitchen Nightmares..but I prefer the UK version MUCH BETTER. There's not so much drama and angst.
