  • you forgot to mention the forces contributed by the legs and waist

  • I'd prefer a live action demo, this is very disconnected from reality.

  • You can also sink your body weight in the motion and "fall" your weight into the punch....

Also...wing chun is the twin yang hard to tai chi's yin soft...

these 2 styles are incomplete without each other

  • this kind of fighting generates much more power, than usual punches, I know because I train kung fu myself....

  • I dont understand this, using all yur body components feet elbow nuckle head creating combinations sounds better to me.

  • @AmericanPowerBase I suppose you're right. I just found it odd that he picked this particular element to talk about. I was probably blitzed on cough medicine, but I would show the biomechanical structure supporting the force from the hand to the ground. Using these representations with their arms straight is misleading, since you can't ground power as effectively with your arm straight. Also, you lose power twisting the spine, but that is more linked to not leading force vertically.

  • @AmericanPowerBase

Why do fantasy-dwelling folks like you keeps on popping out. I receive thousands of hate mails everyday from stuntmen, so-called KungFu masters and practitioners for telling the truth.

Tai-Chi is fake, it's a cinema-based martial-art that fooled many people into believing that it's a real combat art. It's a great exercise but don't turn it into a fighting art. Don't let those Kung Fu movies fool you.

The truth must be told and honesty will set us all free... =)

  • Truth? So says the "... =)"; the biggest challenge to complete when speaking of fighting in general is that of taking away dualism in ones self, which is what Tai-Chi is all about. Anyone who even looks at a Tai-Chi practitioner would believe it's either a meditation, a healing art, or a fighting art. I personally have been practicing Tai-Chi, and I can see that it's all three in one package. NOT because I've looked at other do it too, but it's only known if one practices.(Skeptics beware!)

  • sorry man, i'm a huge fan of tai chi, but what was in this video is common knowledge to anyone who does martial arts.

  • @AmericanPowerBase

i really must protest. that video doesn´t even give you a clue about that punchingconcept of tai chi. and i am more than just common with that. if it teaches you that less, why even putting it into a dokumentary. why not giving the whole instruction then ?

  • 176,947 people watch this for entertainment. The others have Asperger's Syndrome.

  • that is not a tai chi punch at all. you learn absolutely nothing from this video -.-"

  • @schulleee this video was mainly to give you a basic idea of tai chi..

  • @bonzard

it sadly doesn´t even do that =(

  • Chi porn?

  • good

  • hell that guy being able to detach an shoot his arm of then bring it back his pretty impressive

  • Lame! I could generate more power than the fighting stance being taught here.

  • Upper body triangle? This in no way represents any neijiaquan arts. You don't go over alignment for rooting, kua opening, shifting, ect. This video is 99% inaccurate. This isn't even accurate to boxing, since you don't show the foot pivot.

  • good work !

  • So what about HIP movement and was this a reverse punch or jab? LAME!

  • I like the presentation, but how is it any different from how a boxer throws a punch? It's the same.. so why use Tai chi as the example?

  • @Aheyne When I started internal martial arts I didn't see or feel the difference in mechanics between good boxing and tai chi. I later found a teacher who had us do I-Chuan qi-gung daily! for some time before practicing any form.

This took my full body power to another level which can not be easily explained. Mechanically I look the same but the feeling is quite different, profound and beautiful.

Tai Chi texts say: "When one part moves, all others will move together"

    Even a finger.

  • Its a mind set. If you think tai chi is real it will give you confidence. Thinking in a certain way helps you to fight in a certain way & vice versa. TKD, Ninja, Samauri, Judo, Arnis all have there mind sets.

You have to understand that the martial arts will rule over you, it has evil inherently in it. Without the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lord over your life you will fall into wickedness.

Jesus came to set you free, he paid for your sins with his own life. This is the real way to live. Amen

  • This is a good example of the famous mummy style.

  • slightly mistaken... the teory sounds more like karate. in tai chi the punch comes from the ground through the foot leg hip, through the torso, though the arm. it is called the root. firm root makes firm strike or punch, or push. the body... full body as you stated works in a whip like motion.

  • The voice is so annoying. It's monotone. Good video, I recommend firing the guy behind the voice and hiring a guy who's interesting to listen to.

  • a video for dummies

  • this talks power but power wont come from either arm

  • hehehe this guy is funny.... turning power... yeeeuohhh

  • I dont´t think you need tai chi to know that it´s always better to move your whole body....lol

  • One time I got into a knife fight with a shark, and he roughed me up a little bit. It actually shot its fin at me and rendered me asunder.

  • Yawn~

  • he's worse than Microsoft Sam

  • You are some what correct. In kenpo karate we call this concept opposing forces. This motion generates almost double the power than if you were to just throw a straight punch and increases the range.

  • lol this isn't Taiji

  • Kung fu has never been so monotonous and boring.

  • Thank you very much

  • I can see that there are great effort being spent on this video.

But I have to comment on the extending of th arm and rotating of the body.

Although it is true that rotating the body increases the damage, but at the same time such a movement uses too much energy, and it would be foolish for older practitioner/master to rotate body in that manner.

Tai-Chi/Xing-Yi/Bagua movements are small and compact so that you would not waste too much energy to fend attackers.

  • @MS78gonggon- Doesn't this type of movement use *less* energy? The deflection is achieved through momentum & body mechanics, rather than brute strength.

  • @ bitterbonker-- well, it does use less energy than brute force but there`s even more efficient way of using your power(power doesn`t mean brute force) .

and Outer momentum and Inner momentum are not the same, and Inner momentum is the key to efficiency in Martial art.

Outer momentum can be stopped by outer force, but Inner momentum can not be seen so it won`t be able to be stopped.

  • By "inner momentum" do you mean chi? Would it be false to say that inner & outer momentum depend on each other?

  • Yes, I mean Chi. and Outer momentum is quite visible. But Inner momentum'Chi' is invisible, you can only feel the movement.

So it won`t be correct to say that they depend on each other, they are like kind of 'related' to each other.

  • the different punches are used for different effects. sometimes it is appropriate to use speed punches and other times power punches. if you dont put your martial arts to practice, dont try to explain punches please.

  • How my arm is going to hit like that.. this is impossible xD I love how it separates from the body and flies away :D:D

  • he sounds very enthused...

  • kinetic linking ftw!!

  • DUHHHH, are there still people breathing who dont know this yet?...

  • ask random people on the streets around where you live. you will find there are many people who have no idea about any of this.

  • FUNNY!

  • Thank you for the info. I cant believe there are so many rude and ignorant people out there. Thanks for your efforts mate. cheers,

  • @tompaultompaul this guy makes funny sarcastic videos

  • are you shiting me?...if you punch some one you dont just extend your arm like that...you lean into it and use most of your body...dipshit ..you know i hate your videos your so full of shit.

  • this is shit!

All fighters do it any way and who the hell just throws the arm without the body?, look at every fight on you tube... they all punch with the body you nut!

    So the video is pointless.

  • very good!!!!!!

    thats important and helpful

  • In Systema that same concept is used but the arms are bent as if they are holding a barrrel.

  • leg* kick' fist* punch is it so hard 2 get

  • this is not a demand, worgrow of chungle need, dont dare it

  • HOLY SMOKES THIS IS AWESOME

  • They must be married. They have no genitals.

  • you can't kick without using your should and hips think about it kiddo!

  • And I bet I can kick your ass using my full body and only focusing on beating you.

  • Is this the same guy that explains internal movement by the idea of sticking a hand up one's ass?

  • maaaaaaaan

    shut up

  • you can go try beat up a combat tai chi sifu, because obviously judging by what your saying that this is shit, you obviously havent been hit by push hand before or anything remotely, you be ashamed to be chinese you fucking prick. i never knew even a chinese person can diss their own heritage, stop talking out of your arse

  • Chinese are real working bees, but they tend to be very undereducated... In any manner.

What I saw every morning in parks all over Shanghai was hundreds of old AND young people doing taijiquan. Some of the even in combat.

I tried to compete with Jujiutsu and failed epic.

  • 0:15 "mini-people"

Mini? Christ, you can't say shit!

  • "Puncheen"? Punching maybe? And everyone punches that way already. Advice to viewers: Don't learn to defend yourself from poindexters with speech impediments, learn from a boxer

  • if this is correct explain jik chung chui

  • Well said!!

  • this is shit

  • The scene at 00:24 just shocked me.

  • Lol hes always in monotone

  • 2:43 FALCON PUUUAAANCH!!!

  • Who made this video? LOL

This dude must live in a closet. Did you all see the one he made about how masturbation harms your body? Classic...

  • Lol, "Here is a picture of the back of the human body..." I laughed so hard. Tai-chi is about using "Chi", or all your body's energy in specific parts of your body and transfering it there. Full-body punching means taking all of your body's energy and transfering it through your arm through meditation and focus.

  • Well the chi is in addition to what's being presented in this video.

I love the internal arts, but honestly these full body concepts are in western boxing and other non "kung fu" fighting styles.

  • Of course this guy here is a little lopsided with his graphical interface and monotone voice. But aside from him, how many fighting styles actually know of and train the kua(aka pelvic girdle)? How many can open the joints? Really only an internal art would know of and train such things- so full body connection has a whole different meaning between the external and internal arts

  • OK...so this is what tai chi is about? Whis is what makes kung-fu men so powerfull?

Even the lamest boxer knows this.

  • Ur voice is like a robot. Why is that?

  • he uses his whole body to talk im guessing

  • idk what everybody is talking about, i would be scared shitless if somebody shot their arm at me in a fight

  • Hahahahahahahaahhahaa....

  • Robot punch!!!

  • @moobertd lmfao

  • @moobertd and especially naked man shooting hand... :D:D:D:D:D

  • That is really a bad video, and btw no one punches only with its arm everyone uses the whole body so, very bad exemple to gratify an argument budy

  • This is very, VERY stupid.

NOBODY above the age five punches with just their arm.

You don't need taichi or any idiot claiming the "arm and torso are welded to the spine" crap to put MASS or SPEED behind your punches. That is the only thing that matters for an effective punch. It's called PHYSICS not CHI!

Kung fu men ARE NOT powerful, relatively speaking.

    your monotone doesnt help either.

  • relative to what? boxing or muiy thai? second no where in this video does he talk about CHI, its all physics here.

also you could be the strongest and fastest man in the world and with out any form do as much damage to yourself as the other guy. hence how you deliver all the mass and power is just as important as anything. i woudl agree only morons punch with their arms, but have you watched any mma? ya their form is shyte.

  • sorry for the typo, i meant to say "physics, not TAI CHI". my bad.

"and with out any form do as much damage to yourself as the other guy"

ahahahahahahahaha! wow. I stand by my comment. speed and mass are the only things that matter. you can argue with the proper technique you can do more damage, but this means more mass is applied.

    "ya their form is shyte"

WHO tf cares about form if it gets the job done?! i watch it all the time... nobody seems to care about "proper form"

  • yes the proper angles and tensing allows for more of your energy generated by a moving body to be applied through out the targets body. when i say energy I dont mean chi. i mean energy generated by a mass moving.

form is important if you care about the economy of motion. why throw a air maker if you get apply as much force with less motion and get the same job done?

its pretty easy to tell that you care little for martial arts, but are more interested in exposing chi projection people.

  • "form is important if you care about the economy of motion"

in a fight, WHY would ANYONE care about the economy of motion?

"apply as much force with less motion and get the same job done?"

    because you DONT!

"its pretty easy to tell that you care little for martial arts"

    wholly untrue

"...more interested in exposing chi projection people"

I'm interested in exposing nonsense and fraud and supernatural whenever it rears its ugly head

people claiming to do miraculous things because of MA fits

  • why care about economy of motion? simple effectiveness and efficiency. its called Martial arts or science for a reason. its the study and perfection of fighting.

we already established that with proper form more kinetic energy could be transferred in to the target. so reason would stand that with proper form you could transfer the same amount of energy as a hay maker but with proper form and less movement because you could transfer more energy.

  • "so reason would stand that with proper form you could transfer the same amount of energy as a hay maker but with proper form and less movement because you could transfer more energy."

And all that goes out the window in a fight... try practicing "proper form" while getting punched in the face! Also, proper technique is often overcome with enough speed or mass applied. In a fight it's mostly insignificant... as is witnessed any time a gung fu practioner steps in with an MMA fighter.

  • I do practice proper form while fighting. my teacher yells at us none stop. bogu gear, or no bare knuckle, the way you do do proper form while getting hit is to try and do proper form while getting hit.

also pure technique with no speed or power is not complete. real fighting requires both power, speed, and technique. it all have to balance out.

  • also MMA fighter are shitting punchers, I havent fought one yet that could really hit. they can throw a nice surface punch but any fighter worth a damn can take a couple rounds of those shitting punches.

  • "also MMA fighter are shitting punchers... I havent fought one yet that could really hit."

ok... whatever you say pal. you're the best.

    you win.

  • See my reply to him for a little more realistic take on things.

  • the power of a strike is its speed and weight. most MMA fighters have alot of power and a modicum of finesse but MMA and indeed BJJ is in the end still a sport. You cant break someones fingers or, rabit punch them, or gouge their eyes or any number of things. Just because someones arsenal is smaller doesn't mean its worse though and fighting someone like that it would still be best not to get hit at all. Perhaps it would be a good idea to put pressure on since even they counterfight sometimes.

  • Mmm, beyond this, an economy of motion doesn't mean everything. You'll get tired less and gain more out of what energy you use. That doesn't mean you're automatically better than someone who has more power and finesse than you to begin with. Still, even if you did have more power its a fallacy to over or underestimate your opponent, taking a couple hits isn't a tactical decision you make in all circumstances and you don't even think about having more power 'till you KNOW you have more power.

  • secondly I am not defending this guys videos. I am defending principles of a martial arts. this guy is plainly a few cards short of a fun deck with his people with a halo bump on their head are good people who are smarter then those with to bumps on their head.

  • oh, and one more thing... you're defending a series of videos that can't possibly be real and sincere. They're all jokes... I've just watched the one about masturbation, this guy can't possibly be serious!

  • Tai Chi Guys are full of this BS

  • Dude this is almost worse than gay porn

  • Right on the spot dude Great assessment :D

  • Boring video. Also all martial arts teach to use the whole body when striking etc

  • Wow Tai Chi is lame it's ineffective for street.

  • thats bullshit. sorry sir, but tai chi is one off the most effective martial arts.

  • lol!I what? I will push you!

  • wow, now i know what to watch when i can't fall sleep.

  • this guy has the most boring voice ever.

these video are made to make you sleep so he can take your things!

TURN OFF YOUR SOUND WHILE YOU CAN AND HIDE !

  • OMG!! It's Mr. Roger's from "Mr. Roger's Neighborhood"!!! HE'S BACK FROM THE DEAD RUN!!!!!!

  • i just woke up.. is the vid over yet.. man the guy is soo boring.. good basic concept though

  • wow~

  • sweet jesus this is so boring :o

  • i think it's because of the man that's talking his voice is boring

  • Hint: It's not a man, it's a text to speech program.

  • to me martial arts skills must be mastered b4 using and that takes lots and lots of years. but a bat or a gun u dont need to master cuz that u did when u where young. remember yr mother or father bought u a gun. man had all that training way back then already. :D but it's true. not real gun. I'd call it "a simulation gun" lol :D

  • Your videos are nothing put bogus BULLSHIT!

  • If everybody at school were teach tai-chi and meditation, all those stupids war would end. because we would all be a bit more unlighted and the resulting process would be exponential.

anyway I have never seeing a combat style who only encourage the separation of body!

A martial art style that respect him self will encourage unity.

    Thats my opinion.

  • body seperation isnt exactly correct- yet it is yet its not. its kinda hard to explain the seperation of Yin&Yang(upper&lower) nd the relation to the unity of the body. but a better image might be- dont be externally stiff nd internally lacking; instead be strong internally but soft externally. the botom of body should be well rooted but not sluggish; the top fluid; nd the two seperate parts are connected by the dantien

  • holy crap the animation, SUCKS!!! :0

  • boooring pies of shit

  • ok vid....but dont say nothing about what to do with your lower body...hips and feet

  • u havent really grasped the essence of full body power in this video. dont look @ the body as a mass, weight or physical object. the full body power is the power transfer from the ground, through feet & legs, commanded/direct by waist, travel up through back+spine across arm whiped into the target causin it to explode inside. its not a twisting motion @ all but turning internally. punchin in taiji is not a punch but a stretch from open & close

  • yes you almost got it. Body there can be no power from the ground if something doesn't hit it first. feel carefully what happens in allmost every movement of the body, it all starts with the breath, a preparation, causing pressure, which you grasp with your muscles, making a wave down to your feet, creating a solid base for the eventual movement. don't get me wrong, i really think and more importantly feel that its this way. What do you think

  • no u can let ur legs do no work and develope just as much stength form the core as u wud your base being the floor. cobing both of them is so powerful u can break your own limbs easier than ever.

  • Well don't know about Tiji but this is the way power is generated in certain forms of Kung Fu. The ground up kinetic energy method of punching is good, but I don't like the way that the necessary planting of weight takes away from delivering full weight into your target. In the method i'm describing, power begins from the feet up, rather than from the ground up, if you get what i mean by that. The ground up method is alot similar to Karate.

  • body power does NOT equal or is related to body weight/physical speed

  • duh mass x speed = power, more body involved, more mass, more power.

  • u are a real dumb!

  • its a fact that im not, maybe you could explain whats so dumb about my comment?

  • OMG this is the worst animation ive ever seen

  • This video is somewhat inaccurate. body rotation is not necessary, its all about bridging into the root.

  • Right but uncompletely right , too mechanistic explanation.

  • this guy's voice puts me to sleep

  • u are wrong! that is Qi power.

  • отстой какой-то ))

  • great vid.

  • This was a truly simple explanation of full body punching, as you can add even more to it. You can for example use your hips more in the twisting motion, take a step as you punch, use your knees more, your shoulders etc. Imagine the power of a FULL body punch and not this arm and waist punch.

  • That explains a lot. Like 5 years ago I punched a guy in the chest and he was almost having a hearth attack :P He was way far stronger than me, but I fell sorry for him... :P

  • Holy Fuck, the crazy racist happeh is still around? If you're Jewish, he hates you and thinks you've ruined the US

  • very educational video

this is the whole "use hip movement and turn one punch into a forceful weapon rather than an arm" concept that bruce lee always stressed

  • 1)Very well presented, but not to the true nature of tai-chi

the whole body is the weapon acting like a wave rather than

a spear only after you develop your stance through balance

training and apply jing properly can you even come close to

the point of relaxing your upper body to create that wave.

  • Nice video. :-)

    5 stars. :-)

  • The person talking sounds as if they are falling asleep. Which makes me sleepy (yawn)...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • basically this is the theory of all martial art!

  • we stress spiritual b/c it needs to be instinctive and not mechanical. It becomes a natural second nature like breathing.

  • waste of time even boxer ALREADY know this

  • your dumb

  • 3) Practically all world champions pro-fighters can do it, maybe in one or two of their preferred lethal moves. They are world champions since this is almost instinctive for them with very well built bodyes and focused fighting mind. Sorry for the lenght of the message :^/

  • 2) Once there, one should coordinate the muscles of his backbone with the energy (kinetic not "spiritual") flowing towards his shoulders. Finally one should release this energy with his arm which must be relaxed but in a sort of tension. The whole body is used like a great whip. This process is almost instantaneous and should be applied only when one has forced the opponent out of his balance. It's hard to explain in words but everyone can fill it with practice.

  • The explanation of this video is insulting. Real full body power is generated by whole body coordination. Abdomen and spine are the keys. One should accumulate energy (kinetic) in his abdomen and legs, then release that energy from the belly towards the ground through the legs. The mass of the Earth returns the force through the legs to the hip.

  • I thought this was interesting. This is just the basics. You have to understand the basics before you can move onto more complicated things.

  • real wast of time, even a child knows this

  • This trick exists in western boxing.

  • He fucking detached his arm like he is a robot or some shit!LOL

  • Mazinger?

  • What idiot punches with only there arm like a fucking robot? O.o;

  • waste of time

  • O_o wtf ?! ive never seen anyone detatch thier arm and make it fly forward and punch someone in a fight before.

  • Like in Anime?

  • very nice

  • this was informative

  • lol....It sounds like a speak and spell......solid info however.

  • boring and stupid.

  • this guy sounds like a retard

  • such an obvious demo
