Strange. The text of the Heart Sutra is very heavy, serious and dark. The melody of the song is very very light. Although it's a pretty nice song, I don't like it. Another proof that the Buddhist wake up is just a commercial fashion in China, not a deep rediscovery.

The text of the Heart Sutra is the devine truth to ultimate salvation, therefore it is liberating; the essence of the path to escaping endless reincarnations in the "ku hai". It is the kind of message one needs to hear in this highly commercialised world. Any exposure to Buddhist thinking brings spiritual upliftment, so we should applaud even pop influenced renditions such as this. Those of us who have progressed beyond this point are truly exceptional souls. I truly hope you'll be one of them.
