well i am boycotting modern warfare 3 just because i wont waste money on something that people in my class are going on about since they know nothing of video games because they waste time getting tenth prestige and i however have played pretty much every good game that has descent graphics that has come out some time in the 360 lifespan i am not a expert i dont claim to be i just think that i know more than morons in my class

meh i'm 13 and i'm going to get battlefield 3 and not modern warfare 3 because i find the mechanics more fun i mean sniping requires skill and not just sitting in a corner on the battlefield series also people also on battlefield people actually have skill and do the objectives.

Retailers have no obligation to give publishers money from used game sales. The publisher sold the game and got its money, now it's someone else's property. The end.
The notion that you shouldn't expect full functionality from a used game is also preposterous. Unless something has been physically damaged or removed (e.g. the manual), a used copy isn't any different from a new one. Unless the publisher has deliberately crippled the used copy.

I think developers and publishers are not necessarily doing a bad thing trying to stop piracy to this extent. But they are incredibly thick. There are innumerable occasions where the anti-piracy measures have backfired and both reduce the quality of the game and playability for legitimate users (with the pirates being unaffected and is actually running better in some cases)
I think they are simply doing random nonsense at this point and hope something will work which does not impress me at all.

Everyone hates them for doing that.

CoD being mainly played by 11-year olds is of course an exaggeration. It's the same problem as with most debates and everything where people can communicate. There is a huge *normal* middleground, and then there is a small amount of extremists. Those extremists are often the loudest and the most memorable. I use the term "vocal majority" for this group of people, because even though they are a minority of all the people in an event, they are the majority of people you'll notice and remember.
About that second question : I personally am 15 years old and can be hardly counted as a kid but .... I think that the reason for more kids player CoD is because:
I agree on the fact of not liking getting my ears raped by 12year old with a 50cents mic. The Simplicity of CoD is very alluring because you can just hop on , get some stress relief and stop again. This is why some people prefer playing it instead of Battlefield, Seeing as how Battlefield is clearly more skillbased with their mechanics of respawning , spotting enemies etc. Though the annoying thing about the player base of BOTH games is that they don't recognise the strenghts of the other game.

The PS2 was pirated to hell and it didn't fail. I have a lot of friends back in the day with a PS2 and probably only one of them didn't have it hacked to play pirated games.
HoMM VI is basically HoMM V with a LITTLE better graphics, and a slightly better UI, but without the awesome town view :( That was always one of my favourite things in HoMM...

I think most of the dislike for CoD comes from developers spawning clones with little tweaks instead of unique games because it is a safe, reliable way of making money. In addition, because of the overwhelming popularity and simplicity of CoD (It is simple, get over it) the more complex games are viewed as unwieldy. It's infuriating to people because their favorite games are being simplified for the sake of players who don't want to take the time to learn the mechanics and strategies.
For those who hate CoD (whether for it's short, easy campaigns, it's low-skill multiplayer, or its horrible community), have you ever tried the zombie mode? It's simplistic, but it's also challenging, and totally B.A.
Piracy killed the Dreamcast? Really TB? How many people had broadband connections in 1999-2001? How many people went through the laborious task of purchasing and using the system link cable to make copies of the GD disks? I love the Dreamcast but let's be honest here. It "failed" due to lack of consumer trust in SEGA after the 32x and Saturn. The first actual loadable boot disc came out in August of 2000, 5 months before the DC was announced to be discontinued. Please don't lie to your viewers.

If they paid more than if they didn't manage to sell it, it would impact their profits making them stop buying games all together. The only thing is that it has to be in almost new condition. I sold my games and got $202.50.

@CheezeSailor TBs statement was extremely relative. I don't play CoD much personaly, I find it dull, however I play many other shooters. When I DO play CoD it takes me 10 minutes to learn the map I'm on and 10 minutes later I'm rising on the kill ratings. Name another game where it takes 10 minutes to become competative. Starcraft for example it takes months, MOBA games also can take weeks, Strategy games can take as long as well. Hell WoW PvP considered easy has a longer learning curve.
@wingsofinsanity42 It doesn't take anyone 10 minutes to learn a map, you wouldn't know the normal routes your opponents would take, you would know how to move properly from cover to cover nor would you know where to chuck frags to defende a base, bomb site or flag.

I agree on the fact of not liking getting my ears raped by 12year old with a 50cents mic. The Simplicity of CoD is very alluring because you can just hop on , get some stress relief and stop again. This is why some people prefer playing it instead of Battlefield, Seeing as how Battlefield is clearly more skillbased with their mechanics of respawning , spotting enemies etc. Though the annoying thing about the player base of BOTH games is that they don't recognise the strenghts of the other game.

I think most of the dislike for CoD comes from developers spawning clones with little tweaks instead of unique games because it is a safe, reliable way of making money. In addition, because of the overwhelming popularity and simplicity of CoD (It is simple, get over it) the more complex games are viewed as unwieldy. It's infuriating to people because their favorite games are being simplified for the sake of players who don't want to take the time to learn the mechanics and strategies.

Piracy killed the Dreamcast? Really TB? How many people had broadband connections in 1999-2001? How many people went through the laborious task of purchasing and using the system link cable to make copies of the GD disks? I love the Dreamcast but let's be honest here. It "failed" due to lack of consumer trust in SEGA after the 32x and Saturn. The first actual loadable boot disc came out in August of 2000, 5 months before the DC was announced to be discontinued. Please don't lie to your viewers.

@WiredAffliction - They pay 10% of what they will be able to resell the game for. If they paid more than if they didn't manage to sell it, it would impact their profits making them stop buying games all together. If they are extremely low on stock of a certain game that they know will sell soon they will go up to 15%. Sell your games and stuff to Fye, they pay up to 20% for everything. The only thing is that it has to be in almost new condition. I sold my games and got $202.50.

Because I know the maps in and out. What you said about the reward system on cod is just bs, the only satisfying feeling on CoD is raining hell on noob with a chopper or an AC130. I am 10th prestige for the second time on MW2 now, because of hacked lobbies ofcourse. My fun in MW2 is to kill people again, and again.

@CheezeSailor I never mentioned BF, but it's a lot more in depth than cod. destructible scenery and vast maps, plus vehicles and a massive array of weapons and utility items, means that it's FAR more team-oriented than cod, and as such more complex. running around on your own will only lead to you dying.

@CheezeSailor TBs statement was extremely relative. I don't play CoD much personaly, I find it dull, however I play many other shooters. When I DO play CoD it takes me 10 minutes to learn the map I'm on and 10 minutes later I'm rising on the kill ratings. Name another game where it takes 10 minutes to become competative. Starcraft for example it takes months, MOBA games also can take weeks, Strategy games can take as long as well. Hell WoW PvP considered easy has a longer learning curve.

I remember in the mid 90s, when I was a toddler, Pokemon was the hugest thing. The only reason I bought Gold, Silver and Crystal was because kids were playing the games and with the toys at daycare. =/
Fan translations are another reason I've seen for getting un-upgraded consoles, like Fatal Frame 4.
I'm unfortunately weak and have low income, so I buy used whenever I can. -_- I do feel terrible sometimes but I just can't spend 50$ if I can get it for 20$.
