  • Y'know, when I was about 15 (5 years ago) Me and my friend would always play a card game called 'duel masters' , There was a show about it too kinda like Yu-gi-oh where they would place down cards then summon mosters out of the cards to attack each other. And we always used to say. "Man, give it about 20 years and they'll have a realistic version where it looks like monsters are appearing and stuff!"

5 years into it and the technology's over half way there. Can't wait.

  • I know its kinda out there, but what about creating headset for the layers? Simple clear kinda col looking headsets that could be used to help the dissorientation

  • a company already tried something similar with the PS3 and its camera... huge flop of a game.

it really is a cool concept, but for whatever reason it just doesn't catch on

  • yea they already made this its called Eyes of judgement for ps3

  • since when do you attack a monster? i though you could only attack a player and the player chooses to defend? o-o

  • me and my friends were just talking about this. i really hope the company who made this game gets into augmented reality soon.

i think someone just needs to make a commercial pair of glasses first

  • Well done. I can't wait to see the potential for stuff like this.

  • does someone knows how he is doing that on AR tool, if someone knows please give some kind of a tip ! ! !

  • imagine they change the yugioh cards to this. kids will be like " EAT MY BLLUE EYES RED DRAGON, In 3D"!

  • I was thinking the same thing when I saw this. As much as I do like MTG it's more than likely if they do make a game with the AR Yugioh, Bakugan, or which ever game has a show on that the kids like the most and will spend the most money on.

  • Congrats on your functionality! I am doing this with FLARToolKit. I really appreciate you posting this video!!!! Thank you

  • lolguys, calm down. this is just for fun, and it's actually pretty cool =]

  • cos'è sta roba?

    nn è magic..

  • Im so confused, this isnt mtg

and what is this supposed to be?

  • wow, it be cool if they could get the real cards to do that. I like the spell animation]

  • man Neo Pets sucks it's a babby game Magic:The Gathering is a game for those who have a brain Neo Retard

  • lol

    .

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you a fucking retard!? Hahahahahahaha! That is the gayest thing I've heard anyone say for a very very long time. =P Heheheh....Neopets. XP

  • lmao

  • It is true that real men play NEO PETS, but only true muscular men chats on the BD Chat!

  • you had best be joking

  • im pretty sures hes just kidding

  • finally thank you

  • is Artoolkit in english

  • woah....nice

  • Já ta a venda?

  • Hi, nice work!

I began to study ARToolKit Library and I am getting several linker errors when compiling any example. Did you use GLUT library? What version of GLUT and ARToolKit are you using?

    Thanks!

  • sweet

  • it would be cool to make your own card game with this program

rather than having to tape up your cards you can just make new ones with a multitude of patterns for the computer to read

    it cud be cool

  • That's exactly what the Eye of Judgement for the PS3 is all about... completely based on this subject...

  • Reminds me of PS3 EYE FO JUDGEMENT

  • I had a student create the exact same concept last year. I agree it looks very cool and is a lot of fun to play with as a prototype, but the result still isn't as playable as the actual cards.

For that to happen, orientation-tracked displays have to become mainstream, because now you have to look at a screen in stead of the table to play and you can get disoriented quite easily.

But anyway, kudos on this project. The animations and such look very well done!

  • Thanks. I agree with you about the orientation-tracked systems. also i didn't development much after this

  • If someone makes some sort of hands free headset to look through, there wouldn't be a problem.

  • i fuckin hate people who put their fuckin cards out then fuckin tap, that shit just makes me wanna reach across the table and bitch smack em.

  • i what you fuckin mean i bring a cainsaw incase such situations occur

  • dude, its just a game

  • just watch, in 1-2 years this will be main streme and there will be like a gym filled with nerds watching these play out Hahahaha

  • how do you find or make the 3d characters, and how do you make them walk, jump attack etc?

  • I used Virtools framework to deal with the characters movement. Inside the virtools it's easy to make that control.

  • Da**it, man! I just learned about Virtualoid and then artoolkit less than twenty-four hours ago! I've been lookin' at everything, and just when I thought I've seen it all, ya'll actually go and apply it to an everyday, two-dimensional card game! Ya'll are brilliant, totally brilliant! Hurry and copyright your idea or something because I can promise you that the trading card companies will not overlook this. Ya'll could seriously become millionares! Keep at that idea, it will be huge! D*mn huge!!

  • Thanks for the comment.

I don't know if the trading card companies will be interested in this type of approach, but Sony PS3 has a EYETOY game also with this approach.

  • what the....

  • lmao Magic with Yugioh holograms xD

  • woah im confused, when u play the game is it really holigraphic? or is this just animated to show u stuff?

  • You have to use a kind of glasses for virtual reality or a pc. The video was reproduced on pc.

  • i can't find the glut i need in order to use the artoolkit

  • Hella Skillz!

  • this is sick

    were do u get artoolkit

  • Next stuff, followed your link from the games alfresco blog.

One of the few things that interested me on the PS3 was the eye-toy AR card thingy, if you develop this further could become quite popular.

  • thos arent even real cards

  • what do you mean? you mean aren't real as in there is no REAL magic card that it is based off of? or they are not normal magic cards?

if you mean they aren't real normal magic cards that is the WHOLE point. they made thier own versions of magic cards. as it those are real card they looked at and programed the stats based on thE BAR CODES.

  • Of course those are not real cards. We used Artoolkit to track the cards, and the real magic cards don't have space to put a Artoolkit marker so we created new cards. this is only a concept.

  • wait wait lol I'm not asking that I know they aren't real, I'm asking what card they are... as in.. what card are they, I know it's just a possibilty but I'm wondering what cards they are based on.. does that make more sense?

  • Well if i understand the question ok, this cards are based on the Magic the Gathering cards. We have the fields, Magic and Warriors in this demo. The rest is a concept. we applied some of the rules but others we left out.

  • he is showing the POSSIBILITIES if you could hack agumented reality with card witch i think is awsome so shut up and go jack off in the corner with you lack of inbetween your leggs you call a dick and make it last IF U CAN because you ain geting a girl WHAT NOW

  • didnt mean to say "hack" srry meant to say use

  • how can you do that?

  • nice but uhm, first tap then play :P

  • lol

  • My respect to you man!

  • can you pm me on how to use get the arttollkit

it's soo hard to get it

  • That's genius, it really is. To have done that one your own when it took so many people to do the Eye o Judgment is unbelievable. It looks like your system could maybe miss some of the other bits of magic, like card effects and stuff. Are you going to improve it anytime?

  • I would like to but this was made within a school project and now i'm working and i don't have so much time available to improve. I know that the potential is really great but...

    Maybe in a near future...

  • I'd certainly like to see the results. :)

  • no no if you do it and sell it you'll be rich i wouldn't buy eye o judgment cuz it doesn't look like a game i want to play but magic... new story there all on its own

  • what exactly is going on here?

  • We use Artoolkit to create a Augmented Reality approach of Magic The Gathering

  • I think WotC have something similar for the PS3 ...?

  • pretty koool nice job

  • so i looked it up, its amazing

  • it's not fake. it was a work i've done for my master degree

  • how the hell does that work, it looks fake

  • are you serious!!!

that is one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!!!

The possibilities...my god, that would be genious

  • ??????????

  • Awesome!
