  • 197 people haven't study English literature

  • I luv when Emilie sings like shes another person or like shes singing a story its so pretty.

  • I swear to that empty space that god used to hold for me, if Justin Bieber war truly is brought here, in Emelie's sanctum, and into WingedZephyr's videos, heads will roll. This is a warning.

  • Yesterday was second time I dreamt that I heard Emilie in the radio. Is something wrong with me???

  • almost 200 people use mouse traps.

  • "Cuz he's all I've ever wanted in my life!" I luv when she sings that part

  • Wish I could be as awesome as Emilie..

  • this song reminds me of sleeping beauty :)

  • Emilie autumn is my inspiration I love her songs

  • Why is the view-counter only counting my views of this video? D:

  • <3 EA forever!!!!! I wish she had some kind of fan club where all her plaguerats can go and have teaparties, and hang out in our wayward Victorian stockings and corsets!

  • @ThePlagueRatt I wish I could like this comment more than once! <3

  • @ThePlagueRatt Why don't we have that kind of thing? ^^

  • @ThePlagueRatt OH MY GOSH YES!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThePlagueRatt then start one- I can bring the tea, and the rest is history :3 If you want one all you need is the people who love it and your set...

  • omg those corsets for sale are just soo pretty

  • Everyone says EA is "Emo" so I slap them they say she can't sing I punch them then when one guy told me she shouldn't have been born Ieed up pushing him off the stairs and he broke his leg... Love you EA

  • @NeonSkittlez3 I don't really think Emilie would agree with that sentiment. So they say she's emo, so what.

  • @arcanum101 She isnt emo though.

  • @left4deadlover123 That's not what I meant. I meant she wouldn't agree with him (or her, as the case may be) beating up people for having opinions.

  • It gives me chills.

  • This is possibly the greatest song I've ever heard.

  • lolwut?

  • So beautiful! The Lady of Shalott is a beautiful piece in itself that gives quite a bit to the Arthurian legends... but it has NOTHING on this! Emilie is perfection incarnate.

  • I love her

  • What in the world does Justin Beiber have to do with Emilie Autumn? It's immature that you're bringing this Beiber war into EA's music. I would have thought that people who came to listen to EA were a little bit more respectful and mature than that. I'm severely disappointed.

  • he's a talentless mainstream hack, who is probably not going to school; but will still amazingly get some kind of scholarship. the "music" he makes (if it can be called such) is no different then backstreet boys, but will hopefully be forgotten much sooner...

  • justin beiber is nothing more than a desparete tween trying to fit in, knowinf that in five years he's going to be just like miley cyrus...

  • my best friend just said this was ugly...i now want to kill her she has no taste :/

  • I've actually only just noticed that this is about the Lady Of Shallott...I'm slow xD

  • i am the only one reminded of sally the rag doll?

  • @MegaSushi90 probably..

  • so addicted to this song

  • Is it wierd that I can relate to this song?o-o

  • @MyImperfections1:Nope. I can relate to it as well.

  • And I've done my job as a plague rat yet again. Another one becomes a muffin :D

  • Happy birthday Emilie <3

  • @zirtapot57 Shit, I knew I was missing something yesterday D:

  • @Pezreh This is the song of a talented, amazing woman who sings not with her voice, but with her emotions, so please, shush and listen to the song.

  • @Pezreh *cough ATTENTION SEEKER cough*

  • @MyImperfections1 No, just a shit song.

  • @Pezreh then don't comment asshole and go listen to that shit squealer Justin Bieber.

    [Justin Bieber should be written like this: **** on an EA song.. >:o]

  • @MyImperfections1 Lol, original insult. /sarcasm

  • @Pezreh well, im not copying everyone, i really do despise him, okay? not despise as such... just merely dislike. and you don't need to /sarcasm me. i can understand sarcasm, its one of the most used humour, emilie herself uses it alot.

  • @Pezreh i say this as nicely as i can if you dont like it dont listen no one i makeing you just forget about emilie and go on wih life k

  • @Pezreh i stongly advise u dont leave negative comments on e.a. videos plague rats are deadly. just sayin

  • This is my first Emilie Autumn's song i listened to. It was years ago. And I'll never stop listening to it <3

    She's now my favorite singer, she's amazing. No one is more talented than her. She's God.

    (Sorry if i wrote something wrong, i'm french xD)

  • I want to sing this BADLY for the school talent show....

    well, I would do anything EA that wouldn't get me sent to counseling, but this would be my first pick XD

  • @TheInsanePenguin23 You sould sing this, Juliet, Rose Red, What If, or Across The Sky, Their all beautiful!

  • @TehFinalFantasygurl why thank you! ^-^ I was considering this one, but then for the first time I completely finished listening to What If (before I just couldn't listen to it, IDK why) and now I've been set on learning that.

    If only I knew piano...

  • I'm doing English Literature A Level, and The Lady of Shalott is my favourite poem of all time (thanks Emilie!) Unfortunately, the other Literature group at my sixth form is studying it, and not us! :'( Absolutely gutted...

  • "The Lady of Shalott" by Alfred Lord Tennyson

  • On either side the river lie

    Long fields of barley and of rye,

    That clothe the wold and meet the sky;

    And through the field the road run by

    To many-tower'd Camelot;

    And up and down the people go,

    Gazing where the lilies blow

    Round an island there below,

    The island of Shalott.

  • Willows whiten, aspens quiver,

    Little breezes dusk and shiver

    Through the wave that runs for ever

    By the island in the river

    Flowing down to Camelot.

    Four grey walls, and four grey towers,

    Overlook a space of flowers,

    And the silent isle imbowers

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • Only reapers, reaping early,

    In among the beared barley

    Hear a song that echoes cheerly

    From the river winding clearly;

    Down to tower'd Camelot;

    And by the moon the reaper weary,

    Piling sheaves in uplands airy,

    Listening, whispers, " 'Tis the fairy

    The Lady of Shalott."

  • There she weaves by night and day

    A magic web with colours gay.

    She has heard a whisper say,

    A curse is on her if she stay

    To look down to Camelot.

    She knows not what the curse may be,

    And so she weaveth steadily,

    And little other care heat she,

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • And moving through a mirror clear

    That hangs before her all the year,

    Shadows of the world appear.

    There she sees the highway near

    Winding down to Camelot;

    And sometimes through the mirror blue

    The knights come riding two and two.

    She hath no loyal Knight and true,

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • But in her web she still delights

    To weave the mirror's magic sights,

    For often through the silent nights

    A funeral, with plumes and lights

    And music, went to Camelot;

    Or when the Moon was overhead,

    Came two young lovers lately wed.

    "I am half sick of shadows," said

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • A bow-shot from her bower-eaves,

    He rode between the barley sheaves,

    The sun came dazzling thro' the leaves,

    And flamed upon the brazen greaves

    Of bold Sir Lancelot.

    A red-cross knight for ever kneel'd

    To a lady in his shield,

    That sparkled on the yellow field,

    Beside remote Shalott

  • His broad clear brow in sunlight glow'd;

    On burnish'd hooves his war-horse trode;

    From underneath his helmet flow'd

    His coal-black curls as on he rode,

    As he rode down to Camelot.

    From the bank and from the river

    He flashed into the crystal mirror,

    "Tirra lirra," by the river

    Sang Sir Lancelot.

  • She left the web, she left the loom,

    She made three paces through the room,

    She saw the helmet and the plume,

    She look'd down to Camelot.

    Out flew the web and floated wide;

    The mirror crack'd from side to side;

    "The curse is come upon me," cried

    The Lady of Shalott

  • In the stormy east-wind straining,

    The pale yellow woods were waning,

    The broad stream in his banks complaining.

    Heavily the low sky raining

    Over tower'd Camelot;

    Down she came and found a boat

    Beneath a willow left afloat,

    And around about the prow she wrote

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • And down the river's dim expanse

    Like some bold seer in a trance,

    Seeing all his own mischance -

    With a glassy countenance

    Did she look to Camelot.

    And at the closing of the day

    She loosed the chain, and down she lay;

    The broad stream bore her far away,

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • Heard a carol, mournful, holy,

    Chanted loudly, chanted lowly,

    Till her blood was frozen slowly,

    And her eyes were darkened wholly,

    Turn'd to tower'd Camelot.

    For ere she reach'd upon the tide

    The first house by the water-side,

    Singing in her song she died,

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • Under tower and balcony,

    By garden-wall and gallery,

    A gleaming shape she floated by,

    Dead-pale between the houses high,

    Silent into Camelot.

    Out upon the wharfs they came,

    Knight and Burgher, Lord and Dame,

    And around the prow they read her name,

    The Lady of Shalott.

  • Who is this? And what is here?

    And in the lighted palace near

    Died the sound of royal cheer;

    And they crossed themselves for fear,

    All the Knights at Camelot;

    But Lancelot mused a little space

    He said, "She has a lovely face;

    God in his mercy lend her grace,

    The Lady of Shalott."

  • it's amazing how much metaphors it contains and how I'm discovering this song again in the new light after some time.

  • Its quite funny actually, when I'm in therapy, she's the only person they'll let me listen too.

  • I love how she looks in this pic, wonder if my mum will let me get my hair done just like this??? Anyway if we have a talent show so gonna sing this, its beautiful!!!

  • EA/Doctor Who seriously awesome combonation

  • @FallenFaerie220 Actaully, that sounds like an interesting crossover. obviously i'm not a plot writer for doctor who, but perhaps something where he goes to an asylum...filled with rats and tea parties. oh dear, now you've got me thinking :P

  • Doctor Who and Emilie Autumn. What a fantastic combination.

  • love it i feel as if this is happening 2 me

  • This song is amazing (:

  • Why dont Emilie's videos show up on iphone youtube search? :(

  • I love this song, I know the poem it's based on. So tragic, touching.

    btw, what font is that you're using? It's so pretty :)

  • Emilie Autumn's voice is addicting. I didn't like her that much the first time I listened to her... and then I listened again... and again... and now I'm on youtube listening to every song I can find.

  • @InternetWarMachine Ditto...and I'm a guy. :)

  • @heronoki You're awesome, I hope you know this.

  • @InternetWarMachine I've been there... With the listening to every song I can find, that is. Now onto singing along...

  • What editing software do you use?

  • God I love this song so much EA seriously steals my heart!

  • Ahhh...The Lady of Shalott. This is a lovely rendition. Really captures the sad and mysterious feel of the poem.

  • guys guys, don't feed the troll, that just boosts their ego. just listen to the wonderful EA <3

  • If you think she's untalented... why are you even listening?

  • @LoreeLamia Untalented! Ha! You must be bluffing, EA's got talent alright, she can play piano/harpsichord, guitar, violin, viola AND she can sing. Now shush you little mouse

  • @LoreeLamia If you didnt think that was talent, you wouldnt know what talent is.

  • @LoreeLamia Are you insulting her because you're depressed or something?

  • @LoreeLamia you're probably the one listening to that fucking justin bieber-mainstream bullshit.

  • @LoreeLamia don't listen then..

  • @LoreeLamia Untalented?! She writes poetry! She writes and sings songs! She can play piano-harpsichord, guitar, viola and violin, she has more talent in her fingernail than you have in your entire body.

  • @dotcake

    HURR.. you forgot to mention her entirely epic ELECTRIC-violin skillsssss..... oh yes

  • @dotcake Well said that plague rat!

  • @LoreeLamia trololololol. you fail sir :)

  • @LoreeLamia Well if you dont like it, dont listen, and if you just happened to com across her, and don't like her music, fine, but you dont need to comment to start attention seeking.

  • Having grown up to the song The Lady of Shallor by Loreena Mckennit this song makes so much more sense if I hadn't. It oddly takes me back to being a young child. But really if you listen to the orginal poem it makes much more sense.

  • I'm so gonna cover this song =D

  • @FlyingWinegum Rumplestiltskin?

  • @StrangePierrot I think so. I don't know the English name of the fairytale, but google says that we mean the same tale. :P

  • I have a question for all of you.

    Why do you reply bad comments,what is your point,you are not gonna change anything or something.

    There are people out there who despise Emilie Autumn or someone else as much as you despise Justin Bieber or someone else.

    Don't get me wrong,I do not listen to Bieber nor to Autumn,but I get very pissed when someone is shitting my opinion like they have the right of doing it.

  • @kunoichikamake I think I love you. Finally someone with a rational mind on the internet.

  • @kunoichikamake True.. but people do have the right to have opinions... i suppose that includes having an opinion about someone else opinions.

  • @kunoichikamake As much as I respect this comment, for it is entirely true (haah) --but you said you don't listen to EA. Why are you here, haah? ;P

  • @kunoichikamake many people do not despise Bieber for his music, they despise him for what he represent, the cheap, money-making soulless music of this years

  • @rambo171993

    I think you didn't get my point.

  • is it just me or does she kinda look like amy lee?

  • @MegaBlackveilbridesl Hey, that's true! :O

  • It's inspired by a poem, I saw. But first I thought that it was about the tale of 'Repelsteeltje' (I actually don't know how English people the fairytale called). 'She locked up with a spinning wheel' - She locked up because she has to spin golden threads. 'Is there no one I can pay to let me go.' - 'Repelsteeltje' came to her to help her, for sake of her first child.

  • @FlyingWinegum I know that fairytale! On danish it's called: "Rumleskaft" xD

  • @WhiteToxicArrow Haha I think I mean that one, yeah. :P

  • @FlyingWinegum

    Rumplestiltskin????

  • To be honest; I'm not sure if i like this or not.. She is.. Good.. And i enjoy her music. But; it's the SOUND that makes me wonder.. She is much more talented then she shows. She should do something with Instruments, if you get what i mean.. That's my opinion. But, just as i said; she is talented. But I hope she'll make something Bigger soon :) *waiting*

  • love the lyrics and such, just wish her great voice was louder

  • I'm getting chills at the last part with the violin!

  • She inspires creativity. <3

  • This song is just magical. It's utterly magical. Just wow. o.o

    Emilie, I bow to you :)

    <3 EA

  • This song is just amazing. I love Emilie :)

  • @nattacka

    It is really happy, isn't it? I bet she would love you, too! ^.^

  • @nattacka Yes it is. That is why I love it. However, you say it like it's a bad thing.

  • @benjetta96 jst a boring song

  • @nattacka Hmm, fair enough. You have your own opinion. However, you should really look up the poem "The Lady of Shalott" or at least pay attention to the lyrics in this song. No need to be ignorant.

  • I love this song so much more after reading the poem it's based off of.

  • I'm a metal guy. But this is just mesmerizingly amazing. It grips me and before I know it, I've got pictures and stories gliding around in my head. Yea >< this is my favourite song to write to =]

  • @casteas16 same here but I'm a girl :)

  • @casteas16

    im a street punk, something you'd see from the late 80s. And damnit i find this song amazing too!

  • @casteas16 shit yeah dude same here and i mean like death/black/noise metal and this music is just great it just has so much feeling in it

  • @casteas16

    Woot! There's another guy who's proud to be a Muffin!

  • this song is amazing, and i love the poem it's written for. (:

  • It has been a long time since I've heard something so beautiful as this song's chorus. Thanks for uploading.

  • You know that feeling when you find a song so brilliantly moving and beautiful that it just brings you to tears?

  • EverChanging brought me here

  • heres a creepy story. i was addicted to this song and half way through listening to it my sister gave me a book to read. well not only was the book revolved around the victorian era i haad opened the book and the poem this song was written after "the lady of shalott" was on the first page!

  • @LittleBluRidinHood that`s cool!

  • very depressing

  • New to me tonight, I like!!!!!

  • I like this song .____.

  • @FarewellBlackSwan well go ahead, make a song and sing better if you can

  • @FarewellBlackSwan Don't label Emilie. She isnt goth, shes Emilie :)

  • wow this is pretty good when i first heard her i heard the song opheliac and i hated it and how her voice sounded but this really shows how good her voice is!

  • i... ..... LOVE THIS SONG!

  • ...Did anyone else get shivers?

  • @lostrose yes, everytime.

  • This is the first song I ever heard by Emilie Autumn. I fell in love that second. This song is special and will always remain my favorite. :)

  • People say Vevo ruined Youtube, They are wrong.... The users did... With all your complaining about Vevo, JB, and anything else you want to rant about... Yes you are entitled to your opinions but dang... saying something "Sucks" or is "stupid"... Really? it's annoying... they must not be to "Sucky" since they are famous.... And all your hate does is fuel them.... But anyway... Screw Youtube... I am gonna buy CD's.... Cause people can't post hatemail on a CD... Peace out and love ya all.

  • @demonlegato123 amen

  • I introduced my friend to Emilie Autumn after my friend introduced me to Doctor Who. I think it was a fair trade.

  • @soundsxofxfreedom a fair trade indeed.

  • @soundsxofxfreedom

    Hahaha! My friend and I did the same thing. X)

    I'm glad we made that trade!

    Emilie Autumn <3

  • @soundsxofxfreedom Doctor Who! <3<3

  • @soundsxofxfreedom Absolutely!

  • @soundsxofxfreedom A Doctor Who AND Emilie Autumn fan? My dreams have come true!

  • @soundsxofxfreedom awww lucky i showed EA to my best friend and this girl that i now hate and they love her you now what she gave me Stress knots and i'm 11 but the other gave me friendship so we're even

  • @RainbowDisasterz1337 Do you feel cool for saying that?

    You honestly couldn't just say you don't like her... you have to say things that are more harsh... Actually why couldn't you just go to another video and not comment.... It would have been so much simpler..

  • @demonlegato123 You have a point but people are allowed to have an opinion but I mostly ageree with your comment :3

  • @left4deadlover123 Re read my comment, I told them they could say they didn't like her... I just think it is rash to say someone sucks, considereing they made a living on it... Can't suck to bad then right?

    I don't know, I just think it is mean.

  • @demonlegato123 Ah right, my bad. Sorry :)

  • @left4deadlover123 No problem :P

    Mistakes are made.

  • @demonlegato123 Hell yeah :3

  • Beatiful song

  • Not meaning to brag but I can play this on piano ;3

  • The Lady Of Shallot was awesome, I love how Emilie sings about the coolest things instead of nonsense, not to mention the instrumental work and singing make it pure epic. <333

  • Is it me or does she kinda sound like Tori Amos in this. Not that it's a bad thing since both are talented.

  • and it's raining outside my house lol
