Could anyone help me? I was wondering if the piece of music Salieri is playing from 5:00 is a real piece, by him or otherwise? Any help would be great. Thanks. :)
@11777766, albeit somewhat historically inaccurate. I've never read anywhere that Mozart cheated on Constanze or vice versa, as is implied in the movie, nor do i think that Mozart was-forgive me, Herr Mozart-the ass depicted here. I think he did play practical jokes...to an extent.
I love this movie. And even after seeing it, this opening is that much better. Especially Salieri's reaction to "All men are equal in God's eyes"...."Are they?" Brilliant segue. :-)
And that food does look like the most delicious thing.
Wasn't F. Murray Abraham nominated for an academy award for his acting in this? If not, he should have been.
In the movie it didnt say he was murdered. The guy just blamed himself for Mozart's death. In the movie Mozart was writing an opera when he got sick and then he died.
I first saw this movie when I was five. I think this is the most amazing movie ever to exist in society. Better than most of the vulgar out there today.
It is most certainly some piece of Salieri, but I don't know exactly what. Beethoven was a student of Salieri's. So Beethoven was influenced by Salieri. Glad you heard that.
I have it as "Symphony 25 in G Minor, K. 181: I. Allegro con Brio" in my itunes. It's Mozart, and I too had to go searching for it after watching this movie a few times.
Brilliant film. I saw this the first time when i was about 14 (i'm much older now hehe) - expec ting it to be boring but to me, it was everything but boring. Another fine Milos Forman film.
i think that mozart was better in many senses than beethoven, but i really like beethoven because i prefer minor rather than major. this is a really good movie too!
Amadeus is one of Milos Forman's most beautiful films. Just so you know though, the story is not true. Salieri never killed Mozart, or even inteneded to kill him. And the Requiem wasnt requested by Salieri, but by Count Walstagg
