Thank you Mr. Ratekin! This is a great tribute to a star whose light is still shining brightly! I purchased all 5 seasons of this great show, and decided to start a Family Affair TV Show page on Facebook. This is a great song about a sweet person who will never be forgotten. :)
Any of the 1960s & 70s generation will always remember Anissa (I was only 1 1/2 years older than her) Had I seen her on the street back then, I would have fell head over heels for her. Great video Mr Ratekin,,you are to be commended
This is really nice. I remember watching this show on TV Land. It was a classic. I saw the E True Hollywood Story about her. It was not only sad but tragic.
Mr Ratman this is beautiful. Thank you for this wonderful tribute to Anissa. You are very talented. When I saw where you said you would not sell this song I thought he is an awesome soul!
Been watching repeats of Family Affair. As a child I loved this show (still do)! I even had a Miss Beasley doll! Watching this show now, I always think to myself how they just don't make shows like these anymore, that teach kids good morals. I'm 44 years old and back when I was little my parents never taught me these things, all the good shows they had on back then did instead. What a cute show and a terrible loss!
In my opinion, one of the most talented, if not the most talented child actress of all time. Just watch an episode of "Family Affair" and how she carries an emotion or handles a long and difficult line.
The tribute is so beautiful...befiiting the little girl that all the world loved. Anissa was adorable on the first episode of Family Affair. I miss the show and her and the cast. It's so hard to find shows nowadays with a loving family inviroment anymore. I believe that will destroy America faster than the national debt.
this is a nice tribute.....i was named after her.....my mother and Anissa went 2 high school together and were good friends.....i wish i would of got 2 meet her....R.I.P. Anissa Jones and her brother
I've been watching all the Family Affair episodes nightly for weeks now. A very good show & so sad that such a beautiful talented woman past away so young. . .
Thank you for the wonderful song. I can still see her and hear her voice from Family Affair. It's so sad that her life ended the way it did. She had so much to offer the world, not just as an Actress, but as a human being. Rest in peace.
she was my friend when I was a litle child. She was some years older than me and often took care of me. She was so lovely and gentle to me and yes she had very bright eyes and wonderfull hair. I remember her with love
when i was a kid and i saw her on tv i had big crush on her. she was a couple years older but every time i saw annisa she made me smile. it was her eyes they had a charm, wisdom and a question all at once. she will always be missed. maybe i am wrong but i always thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world.
I've often wondered that had Anissa gotten more emotional support from the Mom, if this would have made any difference? If she had been allowed a lot more "down time" instead of making her work every second of every day; would that have changed anything?
I'd like to think it would have and that she would have made it through her '70's CA teenage hood unscathed.
What an incredible song. Very moving and personal for me - I was named after Anissa, and can also really identify with the words of this song. Thank you for sharing!

this is awesome. i often wonder about people who died young? what would they be if they had lived? anissa, janis, jimi, kurt, so many. it's a beautiful tribute to a beautiful girl.
This a great tribute Mr. Ratekin. You are a very great and talented songwriter and performer. Is this song available for download? I was just wondering.
That "last picture" does not look like Anissa! & I knew her all my life! From day 1 at Paseo del Rey grade school! I saw her a few weeks B4 at my moms new place down in Encinitas,& she was cute & chubby as always-hangin with my Bro-who she liked. It blows my mind she would go near Butch kovan-what a creep! But you know thats just what we did in the 70s-it wasnt all that unusual- Poor Paul was always kind of tortured soul-thats why she was so protective of him. & you did say her name right!
On my first day of school I was scared to go in so my mom &the teacher paired me up with another little girl who was scared too-It was Anissa! she didnt even look real at first-I thought she was a doll! Wer went all thru school together-good friends sometimes-sometimes different friends-but we always knew eachother. She went with my bro toward the end-I saw her a few weeks B4 & she was cute & chubby as always-I kinda doubt that so called last pic.& poor Paul- he had the saddest eyes I've everseen
Very nice tribute. Always loved this show as a kid and liked her a lot. I never felt jealous of her as I did with other kid actresses. I really liked her. I think there was some kind of unconcious relating there.
That is really weird I had a step-cousin who was from Marina Del Rey
and she dated her brother and this was after Annissa had died maybe a year or so and I was pretty young still but knew who she was talking about but to learn this guy then died himself 8 years later is really sad..........
I remember when I heard about Anissa Jones and her passing in 1976. I was only 8 and was watching "Family Affair" in syndication. I couldn't believe she was dead. I remember crying for her that day. I remember someone in school telling me Johnny Whitaker was dead too, but of course it wasn't true. Third grade school gossip. :) A shame, she had her whole life ahead of her.
Thanks for making such a beautiful video of Anissa Jones. The day it was announced that she had died they also mentioned that she was only 18 years old...ironically, I was only 18 years old that day too! Her death shook me to my very core. She was the first death of anybody in the world to me at that time! May she rest in peace but what a shame of a lovely young woman.
she was sooooo young when she past,, its sad,,, but of course we remember Anissa Jones how could we ever forget her,,, she will always be Americas lil sweet Buffy*
It is sad what happened to anissa, especially when i've read comments from people who knew her that said she was very nice, but we should remember she did it to herself. She did have a difficult life: her dad died, which probably started her downward spiral; i.e. ditching school, shoplifting, and drugs. It is clear she was hurting, it is very sad her so called friends, AKA leeches--allan kovan, didn't encourage her to get clean instead of encouraging her bad behavior.
@ratmanf13 Dude I have to get a copy of this song. Your video helped me get way into the Anissa tragedy. I keep reading everything I can find on her and watching FA clips on here. Wow, this is powerful stuff. Please don't make me join facebook to ask you about this. if you email me I will give you my mailing address. scorpiovike at yahoo

It makes you wonder if it is kind making children into superstars if this is what happens to them God bless you for making such a kind video
i did not know she died. surely she would have grown into one of the great adult actresses, like jodi, drew and so on... i remember mostly her and mr. french... i looked like her a little, but with dark hair.
What an awesome show Family Affair was . I grew up watching and relating to the characters and situations portrayed. Anissa was only a few years my senior during the time of her death. Sorry her life was cut so short. God bless the family she left behind.
@dffederson I seem to remember an episode where one of Cissy's boyfriends came to call. Brian Keith asked him how tall he was. He said he was 6 feet. Brian Keith said he could play "jump center" on his team at that height. Your comment reminded me of that. Thanx, Cheers!!
@dffederson That is so great! One of my favorite shows! I wish they would put it on TVLAND! I remember it like it was yesterday when I heard Anissa had died (I heard it on the radio....very, very sad!)
@dffederson I loved the episode where Gregg has to take both Cissy and Jody along on a date, and the three end up drinking "wine" (grape juice) at a restaurant, and Jody asks the violin playing waiter to play "Turkey In the Straw." Lol.
@dffederson Your father was a great producer of a fine television show. It's a pity they don't produce shows like "Family Affair" anymore. It's what America needs now.
Thank you so much for this video. I am an Anissa Fan, and would love to have an Anissa fan. friend to chat with. We two should put together a page for her on Facebook. No one ever remembers the stars of yesterday! Anissa will never be forgotten by me. She was so beautiful!
From what I understand, Anissa didn't fit the "washed-up child star" stereotype at all. She wasn't a primma-donna, she wasn't self-absorbed or socially maladjusted - in many ways, she was well-grounded & had a beautiful spirit & personality about her.
She may have been troubled in her later years, but many teenagers are. I think her troubles stemmed more from her problematic family life than from any fallout from "The Biz". In any event, what a tragedy that her life was cut so short.
"I was shocked, but there were a lot of people overdosing in the 1970's"
I guess many of us are lucky to have been born at a time when we could learn from the horrible mistakes people made with drugs in the '70s & '80s. I guess in the '70s (& even the '80s) - there just wasn't an understanding of the damage that drugs could do to a person. It's a shame that people like Anissa, Len Bias, et. al. had to die for us to wise up about how detrimental a "drug culture" is.
My very fist day of school. I was scared to death!! Then I saw a doll!! But it wasnt a doll. It was Anissa!! We were great friends ever since. She was no addict-it was the 70s-thats just what we did. Some made it thru, some didnt. Anissa & Paul were very much loved! Now Im a mom-and I know Ive made my mistakes- and the hell&heartaches of a mother who has lost her only TWO children is bad enough!! So be a little more kind!! Oh and ThankYou for pronouncing her name right! she hated when u didnt!
@JanDFrank Wow, I have questions for you. Is there anyway you could email me and I could ask you a few? I am very interested in this whole tragedy. I have read everything I could on it. I am scorpiovike at yahoo.
i loved a family affair very much it is one of my all time favorite shows ,such tenderness and warmth that shone from that show ,now every time i watch it i shed a tear for anissa, and brian, and sebastion i know that they are all together now they may be gone but not forgotten especially anissa
Great tribute... as a child, I used to love watching her on "Family Affair". But such a tragic story. The "E, True Hollywood" biography of her life was one of the saddest... you just wish someone would have given her the love she so needed.
Very touching. I was about 8 when Anissa died. Channel 17 in Atlanta, later the Superstation TBS, used to show Family Affair every day. When Anissa died they stopped showing it and I thought that was appropriate.
What a beautiful song. I love the video that accompanies it. It is a sad story. Parents have no idea what they are putting their children through when they get the involved in the adult world of Hollywoodl. Look at Drew Barrymore who was able to survive despite being thrown into a adult world at such a young age. Poor Anissa didn't have enough support. She was just trying to deal with the pain she feeling. Its a shame she didn't have a role model to help her get through it.
This is a great tribute to Anissa Jones! I still watch Family Affair and would see what a cute girl she was. Had she lived, she would have been a beautiful woman. Her teenage photos are absolutely marvelous! I am also proud that I have the same birthday as Anissa (March 11). Nicely done!
You have MRS. BEASLEY!?!?!?!?! That is so great! I just love FAMILY AFFAIR . Anissa's death is heart-breaking...I still remember hearing about it on the radio.... : (
I remember sitting in my grandmothers' lap watching Family Affair. I thought Buffy was the cutiest little girl. I miss the shows of that era. I pray that future child stars learn from past mistakes and do not repeat. All are loved and missed!
wow too young but thats what happens when u get mixed up in the drug culture ,wish somebody would have got to her in time. 18 life snaped out rip peace anissa we all miss u
This was really well done and the song was lovely. I was a little younger than she (I'm now 46) and drove my grandmother crazy asking every day to curl my stick-straight hair so I could wear it like Buffy's. I carried my own Mrs. Beasely around with me until the poor old dear was a rag bag. Anissa was very much a part of my early childhood and I remember being completely horrified upon hearing of her death. Bless her heart. Thank you for posting this.
That was excellent, very nice. I met Anissa at Central Juvenile Hall in East Los Angeles when her and I were both 17 (I'll be 51 this year). She was really nice, but very unhappy. We went to court together and sat talking the whole time we waited. I O.D.'d the same month she died, was in a coma for a week but came out of it, I guess it wasn't my time. Something I'm thrilled to death about. I wish she had been luckier....maybe life would have gotten better. It's so sad. Poor baby.
I met Anissa in Spanish class in the 9th grade. We hung out that summer. We were both looking forward to living with our fathers. I was living with my father when I got the news. This was the first death of someone I knew who wasn't family.
We had a couple of things in common. Our parents divorced when we were really young and our fathers were engineers. Plus, our mothers were a bit "intense".
It was the grace of God that got me out of L.A. in December 1973. Wish she was still here.
@Sheliteful can you tell me more about your conversation. What was she unhappy about specifically? What did her mother do wrong? Her brother moved back.
A wonderful video. Thanks for posting this.

My father was the producer of Family Affair
and my brother Gregg played Cissy's boyfriend on the show.

Well that pretty much explains it then.

What an awesome show Family Affair was . I grew up watching and relating to the characters and situations portrayed. Anissa was only a few years my senior during the time of her death. Sorry her life was cut so short. God bless the family she left behind.
wmcdo1 2 years ago 5
@dffederson I seem to remember an episode where one of Cissy's boyfriends came to call. Brian Keith asked him how tall he was. He said he was 6 feet. Brian Keith said he could play "jump center" on his team at that height. Your comment reminded me of that. Thanx, Cheers!!

@dffederson That is so great! One of my favorite shows! I wish they would put it on TVLAND! I remember it like it was yesterday when I heard Anissa had died (I heard it on the radio....very, very sad!)

It does feel like yesterday...and hopefully it will get picked up by TV Land again...

@dffederson He was hilerious. Especially when he told Uncle Bill that he only got engaged to avoid making Cissy feel terrible.

@dfedderson I have a million questions for you. Like is her mother still alive?
Don't want to put a lot of messages on here. Can you email me and I would email you back questions? scorpiovike at yahoo. Hope its ok I put that.

This is absolutely beautiful and heartwarming.Thank you for your time to have put this on view.
I loved Anissa when I was small as Family Affair was the one show that I could escape into another world for a little while. What a tragic loss.

She was so beautiful; as a child and as a young woman. I bet she'd be even more beautiful today. What a tragic ending to her life.

That was absolutely beautiful!!!
