Don't analyze the situation based on your layperson mentality. For Vince, shooting from there is like a mid-ranger for a layperson.

Trying to inch his way in is a layperson thinking, but there'll actually be less space and more pressure.

Most VC's gamewinners in his career were 3's! He made a lot more than he missed in those situations. He got his feet set, with a lot space and little defensive pressure, why not take the shot? DOn't use your human mind to analyze a superhuman! : p

When VC hits a 3 Pointer from far away Garry Sussman the PA guy says..."Thats a V-CCCC..FROM SECAUCUS THREEEEE!!!"...Seacaucus being the town next to where the arena is located...suggesting the shot was super far away.....
