And yes kids in the mid ninties, the LAUSD provided us with tri toms that is as close to a 70's flashback. It was through this fabulous experience that inspired me to a career in percussion. I hope that our school board members realize the importance of keeping funding in our School music programs. I cannot implore the importance of keeping the programs strong in all of our schools. Not just magnets but all of the schools need the funding. Thank you to whomever put this video up thank you.
OMG. Wow i was in the L.A.U.S.D. all city band from 1993 - 1995. 1995 being my grad year. I was the tenor section leader for the 94 - 95, I am the first tenors player on the video next to the snares, In my memories this was the budget that allowed us the students to participate in band activities. I was fortunate that i went to Hamilton Music Academy H.S. Thanks to Hami, i became a professional Percussionist. Thank you L.A.U.S.D. I hope that our District keeps funding the music program.
I loved all city. Its the only place where there were so many people in the band that i could mess around with a cymbal player from garfield while her boyfriend was in the tuba section and not even realize that i was detailing his girl.
no offence if you were in this all city band .but in my opinion i think that the the 09- 10 all city bands performance of everybodys everything was better, but i was so happy that i found this
@MrNumber1punk No offense taken. As a member of all city in these years, and as an instructor in 2002-2003, i can tell you that the talent level in all the players was much higher than the talent level among the kids in the bands these days. From the marching, the style, technique, the 90's all city bands were the best.
hm ok..because ive done all city twice..08-09 and 09-10 ....and i need 2 more...but your right because the players this year were too cocky and believed they could play good, and a bunch of people ddnt play through the parade, and true, your marching was better, these days, some people dont march right and the instructors dont get on them
In the 90's we had to work with some of the crapiest equipment in the district. The kids today have some great instruments and equipment to work with. All City has evolved quite a bit and all these factors are also a part of their sound and appearance. The groups of past years have proven their worth and cannot be denied of their talent and skill. Remember that if not for the traditions and expectations of those that came before you, All city would not be what it is today.
I do respect the men and women that have been in all city before me, and all city is the best experience ever,so i wont disrespect it. my band directr was in it, and i have been in for 2yrs and im encouraging the people in the band im in to join too
