it hits the lats, triceps.serratus, pec minor.the pullover is an excellent exercise .in bodybuilding i used it for helping with rib cage expansion,as well as with breathing squats.brutal.
I fuked up my shoulder doing this -.- Still hurts when i do it with strict form but now I let the elbows flare out...then it doesnt hurt as much.....and I can still feel it in the outer chest.
@georgemfr you won't be keeping your core as tight as scott demonstrates here, plus your shoulders have better range of motion this way vs laying on a bench :)
@wizzgti Including your abs in any excercise is better than just training 1 muscle because it builds core strength but also i think he did it because it gives more of a concentration to the chest area. When your whole back is on a bench you can feel that the weight isnt as heavy on your chest
Hey Scott I would love for you to tell which part of the muscle you're hitting in the exercises :) In this video, is it the lower chest, inner chest or what??
this is not the proper form. you have to keep your feet and knees together and drop the hips so the back is arched. and pull the weight over further down. this works fine but you get a much better workout out like this.
Most bodybuilders are so close minded. This exercise works chest, back, tri, and even works into the core. People need to learn that the body works as once piece.
Scott, thanks so much for taken time to show us how to do a proper exercise. I'll do my very best to keep up with you. Take care and thanks again and keep up the good work.
hey scott can you show us how to lose the fat around your nipples !!! plz i dnt have a alot of fat on my chest i jus hace puffy nipples and i hate dem !
hey scott i had injured my sternum and clavicle exactly a year ago, so should i be feeling sore in my sternum while doing the exercise? or should i find an alternate chest exercise?
the movement/ range of motion from above your forehead to right over your chest is working mainly chest. any movement beyond that point backwards is working LATS.
@loluaremad you can by searching for chest workouts in his archive. I tried it and it worked great for starting but once you hit a plateau switch it up then go back to it later on again.
@iamJarel pls think of the fact there is no such thing like inner chest . You can exercise upper and lower chest ( the mid part is involved in every exercise)
@ScottHermanFitness ok Scatt, please unswer me, I know this exersis works a chest in a minor way, but in major way it's one of the TOP exersises for LATS.. can you explain your opinion please?
I like to do this exercise using the entire length of the bench since I sometimes forget what my butt is doing, i.e., staying too low or going up too high. With my butt on the bench, I know that it's in the right position. Doing it the other way, I found my butt was going up way to high.
Dont you Just hate bellends who put negative comments on , Check Scotts body he knows what he is talking about , Menshealth & Fitness mag dont just pick any douche !!!
@fettbauch not when your squeezing your chest, as he is, in the form he is, watch it again. this excercise can easily be manipulated to work the lats, or (wings)
@fettbauch Watch as the weight is coming over- the lats are not really flexing, the chest definitely is. "...as long as your flexing your chest." Best thing I ever learned- FEEL the flex of the muscle I'm working, otherwise I'm probably not using the best form and cheating myself.
@fettbauch its for both actually but u need to acquire proper technique to isolate one more that the other. more chest less lats, less chest more lats
Any chest exercise will hit the lats at a certain percentage, it's not worked as intensely as the chest but it should hit the lats, because muscles only contract (get shorter) to cause movement, they don't stretch out.
However the antagonistic muscles (muscles on the opposite side) contract to cause an opposite movement, to stretch the muscle contracted. In this case the chest and lats are antagonistic muscles, so for the chest to relax the lat has to contract ... and the whole way around.
