However in this video you must have failed to notice some scenes where Malta's true colours show; 0:23, 0:31,0:36, 0:38, 1:30, 1:38, 1:52, 1:58, 2:02, 2:04, to mention a few, I have yet not come across postcards with these images so I am all for this video and I really suport it and those behind it!!
let's see. the music. ok. the music wouldn't HAVE TO be 'maltese' - but the point was that the NERVE of it doesn't serve the message at all - it's comes off as a very naive expression of what you might call childish pride. or the want of being more sophisticated than you are. timing the CUTTING of clips to obvious audio punctuations is not an argument in itself! it is a very basic and amateurish grip that poses no contextual value apart from the superficial synchronization to the imagery.
it is not 'intriguing' that the pictures 'move with the beat' to anyone but the people who did the video. did you do the video, by any chance? if so - you suck! and the defending of the 'hastily' compiled postcard scenes.. there IS something called balance in editiing, and it means that you don't have to EITHER show one boring scene (which i'm sure you'd have managed) for too long OR quickly cutting to another ' fond malta memory'.
the fact that you actually list points where you feel malta's 'true colours' show just shows that you don't have a grasp of the medium. you shoot yourself in the foot (by now, i'm assuming you made the video yourself). sigh. i could go on and on (and maybe i will - i expect your 'rebuttal' to provoke me sufficiently - but at this moment i need to restrict myself to just reiterating that this video presentation of malta is a pathetic work of an unskilled person.
You also say that the clips are hasty well all the more for it to be a perfect promotion, you don't see it once and get bored half way through you actually want to see it again and again...you also mention that "it only uninspiredly flips through some of the clichéd postcard motifs of malta" well obviously they are on postcards in the first place cause they are the most important and they portray Malta's assets
I believe yours is no real criticism for this video. "...the music is very wrong. nothing maltese about it..." well why should one be so cliche to have Maltese music, furthermore the music actually emphasises the liveliness and strong characters of the Maltese and if you had to look closely you could actually see that the different scenes move with the beat which is very intiguing!!
the people who like this video are most likely all maltese, and it's their prominent national pride that blindly directs their support for it, not the actual production value - probably much like the people behind it. lastly - the music is very wrong. nothing maltese about it - and it totally doesn't fit the [more or less non-existent] flow. it's just pompous and stressful - the opposite of the maltese vibe, actually.

seriously. this is a really crappy video for its purpose. it's just a random mishmash of hasty clips without any structure or deliberation towards composition or atmosphere. very amateurish, typical tourist-department craftsmanship with no nerve or genuine appeal. it only uninspiredly flips through some of the clichéd postcard motifs of malta, and fails to convey the essence of any of them. in short - this presentation has no charm.
Amazing work! Definitely an accurate and not to forget, beautiful depiction of the country. Thank you for showing the world the greatness that resides in Malta. 5/5
Yes Etienne this is a well made video expressing some of our local important sites maybe I would have made it go a little slower to give the viewer a few more seconds to appreciate the sights.Thank you for sharing.xxx
An excellent impression about the Maltese Islands. A job well done and my congratulations go to Rotaract and everyone behind them who work so hard to contribute to the needs and demands of the community. Rotaract Club Malta should get all the support they deserve and I wish them every luck and success in their work.
Well done Rotaract! I'm currently in Ireland for studies and really enjoyed viewing this. It means more when you're away from the island! Keep it up :-)
A truly inspirational promotional clip on Malta. I hope that this wins the competition and succeeds in attracting a considerable number of tourists to our beautiful Maltese Islands.
Job well done Rotoract! I heard so many hours were put into this video it was insane. You covered practically everything to do with tradition and Malta. Malta's beauty, traditional culture and history all well displayed. Nice job Chris!
Being maltese it would be difficult to accept what I say but from the positive remarks and comments that were shared with me from foreigners I take it that it was a success and very much admired.I would give it 8 out of 10 as maybe it required some more historial pictures and a little bit slower to enjoy but other than that..PROSIT.xxx
Great work!! it really brings out the true colours and aspects of malta!! it makes me feel so proud of this country... It is the best promotional video I've seen so far..I'd like to congratulate Mr. Chris Zarb for his great directing and editing skills!!!
I enjoyed watching this video, it reminds me what a beautiful country we live in. I particularly like how the scenes change rapidly showing an a variety of different views of Malta in a short while.
Its a nice video but im not sure about the soundtrack. Dont get me wrong I love the Barber of Seville et al i am just not sure it would attract young affluent people to the island. If it was aimed at older people then thats ok but they are not the biggest spenders.
Thank you Andrea for your criticism. Please spread the word perhaps we could get others like you commenting...

Room for Improvement ; some good locations that I could not fathom. Camera a bit shaky ; next time you record, use a weight to counter the shakiness.

Fast cuts alone do not guarantee a wonderful video. It's just nice - picture quality is poor...
