@DavidMcMahon1 They can self right themselves if they can get their foot on something. These insects live in treetops and if they were to fall, they'd just fly. Only in odd situations like here on a carpet would one have trouble. In the wild, there's always something to get ahold of to right themselves.
I'd be terrified to have that in the same home as a dog and cat, - even if it was in an enclosure when I was away I'd have nightmares about coming home and finding a half eaten Goliath beetle I'd have to clean up....Glad your dog and cat were civil.
I'd love to acquire about five of these amazing insects for breeding purposes, I'm already looking up the care and husbandry and came across this video. Absolutely beautiful animals, and they should be produced more often for the exotics hobby than be taken from the wild. : c
@finalfictionwriter It's only recently that breeders in Asia cracked how to breed them, as they have really specific requirements to initiate pupation. They're illegal in the US though. I agree though, as far as exotic pets, they're the bees' knees.
@pumpkill She was an unexpected gift from someone who had no idea about ecological morality nor any respect for the law. A fantastic gift, but regrettable, as she belonged in the wild.
i love it! not the most skilled flyer, lol! this is a cute vid especially with the dog and cat looking on. =P perhaps you could put this one to music to cover up the wierd noise. thanks for posting!
Yay! A new vid of Pam. I miss her, I bet you do too. Anyway, thanks for posting this. Rhino, and Goliath beetles are really cool insects. :) R.I.P. Pam.

Beetles are stupid. They fly just to crash land on their backs then they starve to death because they can't get up.
randomness72838 11 months ago
@randomness72838 Yes, they fly for the purposes of falling on their backs on a carpeted floor and to die. Beetles are stupid.

You do realize that once transformed into their adult form, they only live around 3 months.
I wouldn't have lost much sleep over it.
