WOW MC DUKE.... he was big all over Europe & was the leading act for ICE T in Switzerland....he never showed though & a riot broke out.,... it was a big disappointment because he had a huge following in Europe...known for his attire. I think Chris Eubanks stole his idea, man he stole the exact look many years later and Chris kept his momentum because of his look...its about time he owes up and gives credit to MC Duke, Anywayz sad the music did change & he fell off the raidar, neva 2 be seen again
Respond to this video... fkin best docs on the net for the uk,s first hiphop gen as a young leicester rudey i was so proud to bust my jv tracky cos mans like duke was busin them drove all the way to 4 star gen in camden lol
@insanemacbeth I should have come to you before I conducted the interview LOL! These are details I was not aware of. I've got X lined up in the new year as the next interviewee so no doubt I will touch on this when questioning him.
as a yound road bruddah coming up, HIJACK made me proud, to be from BRIXTON. plus, from a creative standpoint, it seemed that everyone in the scene, was jealous of HIJACK. the rhymes, flow, beat & scratches were heavy!
in regards to X, i didn't know him. i knew, and would converse with DUKE.. he was alwayz cool, with me. BUT, i remember at a DMC show, in EALING...DUKE performed. X was there, and pulled out something like a .22 mash. so that would suggest, that the beef was serious, back then!
a lot of what DUKE said was true; but there's missing parts to both, the KAMNCHI SLY, and OVERLORD X stories.
in regards to KAMANCHI SLY? i wasn't actually at the mentioned battle, but K-SLY did tell me, that him & DUKE had problems. what i will say though, is that on MUSIC OF LIFE RECORDS, DUKE was what is now called the 'franchise' artist. but when HIJACK released the "HOLD NO HOSTAGE/ DOOMSDAY OF RAP" 12", it blew EVERYBODY away. as SLY said, "SOUTH LONDON SERVES, AGAIN!".
duke was proper back then.that look he was rocking on the Miracles sleeve was sick and we caned it... canya track down bionic (think he is under mad dog these days) from london posse. bet that guy has got stories to tell
Loved watching this looking forward to more, can I suggest Hardnoise,Demon Boyz,Blade,Broken Glass and my homeboys Encona Coarse, hit me up if you want to link with them!i' going to do a feature on these videos on disco scratch soon I'll send you a link,we should talk man I'm looking at doing an old school uk jam next year,I put on the heroes of uk hip hop jam in 2007 with websta and Cutloose with Suspekt,Def J and Chrome performing hit me up peace!
Hey Mike what happened? The editting got mixed up a bit. Duke suddenly starts talking about battling Overlord X without tying up the K -sly beef...I never really knew Duke but it was intersting to hear about his background. I never got to witness or be part of too many emcee battles which is a shame, Fresh Ski.
You had Jack the ripper then Jack of spades , not a new Jack the jack of all trades.
I believe Mc duke is rocking there's no pretend.

i meant to say, that DUKE pulled out something like, a .22 mash. he had it close to his chest, so only X, and a few other people would notice it.
maybe it was bravado, on DUKE's side. but a mash is not really a thing to expose, unless you're REALLY prepared to use it!
as i said though, i was alwayz cool with DUKE!
