  • Once again.A beautiful song.Truly.

  • I think Massive Attack borrowed heavily from Talk Talk for the likes of Unfinished Sympathy and Teardrops.

  • @raithrover1976 Good observation raithrover - I can see what you mean

  • COOL SONG AND WELCOME ON YOUTUBE ZIRGLE AND THE WAVES PEACE ARAB MONDIAL REVOLUTIONS PEACE CHRISTOPHER CAPELLO

  • Hey anybody ever hear ''Love's here'' by King Britt on his album 'Adventures in Lo-Fi' (track 21).Sounds like a major tribute to this song, but I can't find any confirmation on this anywhere. Just wondering. Signed: Hollands biggest Talk Talk fan.

  • does not sound 25 years old!

  • @MysticSkall

    What is that from?

  • Jakie to jest pojebanee... zmarnowane 6 minut życie , jprdl.. •_• : /

  • Pity the atheist lost in himself

    Accumulating nothing but material wealth

Pity the cynic too weak to care

Lost in the labyrinth of his own inner fear

Pity the powers that seek to control

By gaining purchase upon your soul

Pity the ignorant with no inner sight

Lost in the shadows between darkness and light

  • Take good care of what the priests say!

  • fucking …………..bril

  • "SHEEP don't let your feet stray...."religious people please listen and don't try to claim this wonderful artist/music.

  • Happiness is easy Jesus came to Galilee Happiness is easy sailing on the sea Happiness is easy Jesus came to save our souls Happiness is easy and be a friend to me

  • @EvanConnellyNovacek Jesus had nothing to do with this.

  • im my humble opinion.this is one of the best albums of all time..thanks talk talk this album toally captured my imagination and i cen remember exactly where i was when i first heard it,,it blew me away..

  • its like there are two sounds playing at different speeds but together the first a mellow classical and guitar strumming sound the second a faster poppy drum and somehow together magic happens

  • dobry kawałek roboty ... genialny albym!!!!

  • WONDERFUL TUNE

  • This album is just musical genius :)

  • this song is relax and woderful

  • PEACE PRUDENCE LOVE PAX SEX VIOLENCE TV INFOS PEACE RE EDUCATION NO MORE TROUBLES PEACE

  • super compositeur (inspiré par Ravel), trop top, la derniére femme que j'ai aimé, m'a dit "tu m"aura au moins laissé Talk Talk".

  • Fantastic track, has a bit of a Massive Attack feel about it to me, years before they came on the scene though !

  • this is good foreplay music, try it, follow with david sylvan for lovemaking. WILD!

  • @shannonxy2xx yeh great until the kiddies start singing!

  • @jompyj weird dude

  • very good music

  • God, this is just superb music. they really have created something big, and I adore it.

  • QUOI SI T'AIME PAS LAISSE LES AUTRES AIMER MOI J'AIME TCIAO

  • This is classical music, in every sense of the word. Superb.

  • God I love this band.

  • Totally Underrated band

TT, my all time favorite!!

  • This is a wonderful arrangement. And of genius, I agree. There is amazing space in this music. Such expression with reservation.

  • This is 'soul" music, period.

  • It starts off unassuming. No show off.Pure poetry in a new dawning digital AGE! It's always proper to thank Talk Talk!

  • When I was in the german army in 1988. We had a trainee with our tanks over night. We were hungry, frozen an tired. Our commander let his little radio play through the inner communication system of the tank. They played this song. All the bad feelings went away an I felt a kind of happyness growing inside of me. What a magic moment I´ll never forget. Years later I became a beliver and now I know what this song is about. But the song "worked" even when I did not understand .... Thank You LORD!!

  • I can never grow cold on this song. To me it sounds as pure today as when it was first released. Mark Hollis, a true genius. I am not in the least surprised he gave it all up...how can you possibly continue to produce music of this quality..nobody could.

  • Love the chorus of kids. Always loved the bass player in this band and the way the drummer used to bounce on his stool while he played-oh ..and Hollis's vocals aren't bad either :P

  • the piano player sure knows some 'expensive' chords

  • This is real talent, not like today when guy or girl sleeps with someone and trash is born....

  • Wow .......

  • Remember myself as a boy of 14 going to the library getting The Colour of Spring just for that one track, Life's what you make it, unaware about what was coming...Man, what a shivering sensation i got and still get listening to those first percussion seconds of the album, the instrumentation, the athmospheric sound overwhelming completely my musical horizon...Music was never the same anymore, since then. Talk Talk stands on the lonely summit of Music...

  • Beautiful

  • " Take good care of what the priests say: After death it´s so much fun...little sheep don´t let your feet stray..."

  • @Eyyoh77 Spot on ! great comment

  • all emotions are beautiful and perfect when in their element and time..but happiness is one of my favorite..and i suppose LoVe is a perfect explaination of each and all emotion and something else as well...like a little ship in a big sea...

  • mmmmmmh how i love it!

    this is timeless. perfect.

  • Unappreciated music.

These guys were ahead of their time.

Their music sounds good today as ever.

    Damn good beat.

  • t t ich vermisse euch sehr

  • ORIGINAL DADROCK

  • @KrisForges is that a positive or a negative comment?!

  • @TheLittleginnie YES!!

  • What a great band, so underated ..........

  • One of the best albums ever recorded...

  • this album one of my all time favs

  • like alot of us i got this when it came out, hearing it again is like meeting a long lost friend, and saying hi nice to see you, ive missed you

  • Mark Hollis or any member of the band following comments on youtube: thank you for your genius, for your music and for enriching my life with both.

  • @fotobuff01

    Here, Here! I'm with you.

  • @fotobuff01 Well said man. Shine on bro! :O))

  • Mark Hollis was so very impressive on the stage. Saw Talk Talk live in 1984 - @ Rockpalast in Essen, Germany. Still have the tape of the TV broadcast and pray to God it'll never ever fall apart. His music has been an inspiration ever since. Thank you Mark. Thank you forever.

And I just love this song.

    Sublime the blind parade.

    Yes, very much so.

  • I believe Talk Talk were at their absolute peak on this album, superb tune, great to hear again. Cheers,

  • Good memories......This band is so underrated!

  • Carlsberg don't make music, but if they did...

Talk Talk would still be the best band in the world.

  • "Jesus tried to love us all. Be a friend to me"

    Favourite song!

  • Their best song

  • my fave intro to any song ever I think...

  • got this on vinyl when it came out ,havent heard it since 86 ,like finding an old freind again

  • Very easily one of my favourite songs of all time. Heavenly music, to say the least.

p.s. these guys are better than Pink Floyd, imo.

  • @Hruundi yes you're absolutely right talk talk are better

I was mentioning pink floyd because they too produced some magical masterpieces like for example "meddle".

but altogehter if I had to choose I'd choose talk talk of course

  • Lekker nummer ...

  • @marshmallowbudgie... a fine analogy :-)

  • fab talk talk & james marsh

  • Hollis es grande, muy grande. Un genio de la musica.

The colour of spring es posiblemente el mejor album de los 80. Ah y la portada del disco original.Me gusta muchisimo.

  • my all time favourite album of all time!!! Just adore everything this band have done and just missed out on seeing them live...shame xxx

  • the children's voices sparkle in the song like bubbles in champagne

  • @marshmallowbudgie a fine analogy

  • YouTube rocks!!!

  • @yasswah

This song, directly played from vinyl, rocks more !

  • @Luigi499 Agreed! :)

  • best band i never got to see live :( genius.

  • This is my all time favourite classic Talk Talk track I adore for so many years. The sound transparency and the timing is wonderful. Mark Hollis is a real great vocalist and his voice completes very much with this children choir.

I love this song forever - greetings from slideede

  • After 24 years to listen to this again is ageless, priceless. Any sites to see them doing this live? Talk Talk? Listen Listen

  • @SolarSister14

thanks for your comment-nice of you to share it

  • I lost my best friend in 88 and we had to choose a song for the contemplation at the funeral. This lost out to Wealth from Spirit of Eden. Though on reflection I think this the much greater song and I think we were worried that what people would make of it and went for the easier option. Still as beautiful as ever.

  • unique and brilliant

  • Proper

  • I remember getting this album and being blown away. It seemed like such a monumental advance for them- they took the music to such a unique, beautiful place. The only other time I can recall getting an album and having a similar experience is when the Beastie Boys came out with Paul's Boutique. Completely different to Talk Talk of course, but so amazing compared to their previous album. Anyway, this album is just incredible and still holds up.

  • Love it

  • beauty

  • A MASTERPIECE from my childhood... Quality never goes out of fashion...

  • I listen to this song almost everyday. It is a masterpiece.

  • never did like the children singing part

  • @SLeNdaLiLLa Must respectfully disagree. Their innocence stands as essential counterpoint to the "jadedness" of the main vocal. The track would be something altogether different without it and worse for it, IMHO.

  • remember buying this album on cassette aged 16, i'm 39 now and still lovin' it ........just timeless perfection

  • a bit like massive attack "unfinished sympathy"... I used to listen to "the colour of spring" for hours back in the day.... hmmm it makes me wonder why i stopped... so brilliant !!!!

  • top, top track...make sure you have the bass turned up a notch or two for this one - guaranteed to give ANY hi-fi a VERY good workout...

    thanks for posting!!!

  • top, top track...make sure you have the bass turned up a notch or two for this one - guaranteed to give ANY hi-fi a VERY good workout...

    thanks for posting!!!

  • wicked band well before thier time ans very very underated , but timeless you could listen to this forever and still be fresh....init

  • My god...that bass line...from out of this world!

  • The lyrics are under the video

  • Simply brilliant!

  • Genius

  • Sublime ...

  • That voice..that voice, it's so captivating ! I never get tired of this mans voice....so original and unique.

  • This track is totally mesmerising and builds and builds until the break in the middle which is just beautiful and which leaves you wanting more. A great loss that they are no longer recording. I will put off getting the Mark Hollis solo album no longer! It is staggering that so few younger people these days have ever heard of them.

  • Got every album they have ever done but havent listened for a long, long time, now playing again and all of the albums just sends shivers down your spine, one of the most unrewarded bands ever, brings back some fantastic memories, thanks for posting this, 

  • This song, 'I Don't Believe In You', 'Give It Up' and 'Time It's Time' are true gems. Time can do nothing against them.

  • HALL OF FAME YES YES...

  • still excellent!

  • This band is ethereal.......otherworldy.....and thought provoking!

    Funky bass note @2:49.

  • pure and perfect

  • Good song.

  • Makes you tickle on the inside and smile on the outside. Splendid

  • magnifica

  • majestic piece of art. left me speechless...

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.

  • @marty9040 Abso-freakin'-lutely!

  • Pure sublime genius

  • art, a piece of art.

what can I say. Great Voice, music, album.

  • Mark Hollis did a amazing album that was self titled in the 90s or early 2000's. It never really seem to get a proper release apparently due to some label nonsense. Such a shame pardon the pun that he doesn't make more albums as he just seemed to be getting better and better. Not to disregard his 80s pop stuff as that was great, but on the last couple of Talk Talk albums and his solo album he was really on another level. I heard that he had enough of the music industry, Did he officially retire?

  • Take good care of what the priests say 'After death it's so much fun' Little sheep don't let your feet stray Happiness is easy Little ships of Galilee Standing on the sea Jesus tried to love us all Be a friend to me Joy be written upon the earth And the sky above Jesus star that shines so bright Gather us in love
  • Infecting your religions, claiming pacts It's easy to shoulder the blame Happiness is easy Little ships of Galilee Happiness is easy Standing on the sea Happiness is easy Jesus tried to love us all Happiness is easy Be a friend to me Happiness is easy Try to teach my children To recognise excuse before it acts >From love and conviction to pray
  • (Mark Hollis / Tim Friese-Greene) Makes you feel much older Sublime the blind parade It wrecks me how they justify their acts of war They assemble, they pray Take good care of what the priests say 'After death it's so much fun' Little sheep don't let your feet stray Happiness is easy Joy be written upon the earth And the sky above Jesus star that shines so bright Gather us in love Guilt upon their shoulders How well the cause evades
  • lyrics awesome read!

  • @shawsky Could be a worldwide anthum espec the first couplet ;-(

  • Great song; great basses (acoustic and electric); great lyrics, great voice... What else can I say?

  • its no wonder he retired,he was so far ahead of the field but probably felt disilusioned and hurt at lack of sales, wish he could feel the love and respect he has now though

  • @leeoskar1 and everybody else:

Say together - we love Talk Talk

  • I've got the colour of spring on vinyl and agree with the previous posters, this is the best track by far.

  • In my humble opinion this is their best track.

No doubt my state of mind has had a sort of auto-set at the time this track came out. Since then it gives me bumps each time i hear it.

The astounding lyrics appeal to something else then the easyness of happiness. This makes it incredibly deep.

  • LOVE IT!!

    Hugs from Philly...

  • Amazing. My favourite Talk Talk song. Makes me even happier :)

  • This is, without doubt, the best Talk Talk song and one of the most beautiful songs in pop ever. Strong lyrics, strong playing--and the trumpet solo is excellent. Paul Webb also is very inspired on bass. It all adds up to a magnificent whole.

  • beautiful!

  • It is a remarkable song....So good to hear it again.

  • Keep trying to find a weak spot anywhere in this song , wasting my time as perfect a song as you're likely to here , even after all these years still sends a shiver down my spine , all hail Talk Talk.

  • The most beautieful song I've ever heard!

I love the relaxed drums (wish I could play this Intro) & the bass, also the children's voices....guitar, keyboard & grand piano create a magical sound.

The lead vocals make me cry....little sheep don't let your feet stray....sigh!

    Precious music, 10/5 points :-D

  • talk talk are the pink floyd of the 80's, less all the hype. totally underrated band and extraordinary music!!

the colour of spring is simply magic.

can listen to that album in loop for hours without getting tired.

    thanks for sharing!

  • @TheSchievelavabo So true - you really don't wanna know how many times i listened to this stuff...

  • @reepicheep66

thanks for your comment-nice of you to share it

  • @TheSchievelavabo Totally agree. In every album there's that particular song that you don't really like and that you skip. In this album such a song simply doesn't exist. You listen to it from start to end and never skip anything. Not a single note.

  • @gianlu64

thanks for your comment-nice of you to share it-indeed to me Colour of Spring is on the top of a VERY short list of masterpieces.

  • @TheSchievelavabo: i listen to this record myself almost every day actually. Happy to find real good music lovers here.

  • @jeffbeck70

  • @TheSchievelavabo

I think there's been no group like Talk Talk... no one except KING CRIMSON in the 70's (the first 4 albums with Pete Sinfield, particularly).

I mean, not only for the use of mellotron or the complexity of their songs. experimentations, superb melodic lines, fine lyrics and poetry, unusual way to play instruments. progressive and jazzy sounds&rythms.

wonderful music of pure genius, of course.

  • @TheSchievelavabo Bollocks....Pink Floyd of the 80's my arse !!

  • @nobbilc right there with you mate

  • @TheSchievelavabo talk talk are so underrated, and you are right - simply magical

  • @TheSchievelavabo Not heard this track for a long time. I'd forgotten how good they were. Never really liked Pink Floyd much but loved Talk Talk. Beautiful track .

  • Laughing Stock was the pinnacle of Mark Hollis trip with Talk Talk, of course. Amazing, truly amazing...

  • Fantastic sounds! thank You for sharing

  • geiler sound !

  • this song is sooo brilliant.

the beautiful and very tasty drums, the acoustic bass.

it doesnt get much better than this...

  • Music as good as Talk Talk's doesn't visit us too often.

  • Colour of spring is magical

  • u can see where massive attack got their strings from 4 unfinished sympathany.

  • yes, i think you are very right

  • that answer was aimed at

  • Brilliant!

  • me gusta y me trae muy buenos recuerdos

  • Another brilliant Talk Talk track. The Colour of Spring was and still is such a brilliant album. There may only be 8 tracks on it but for me tracks 1 to 6 on it were top quality.

  • This track takes me back to the eighties when life was less complicated. Happiness was a lot easier then. What a track. what an album. Life's what you make it'...never a truer word written.

  • Joy be written of the Earth

    And the Sky above

  • This song is very aptly named - It makes you feel happpyyyy!

ça me rappelle toute ma jeunesse.
