When I was little I'd ride this train about every month. Even though I always stood in a safe place away from the platform edge, I always had this very irrational fear of falling into the tracks XD.
@worldsubways13 Stole what? It's probably the same company that built the motors for both trains. That's why they sound the same including the Air Conditioners.
I rode the subway to this stop a few weeks back. I was amazed how many riders there were late at night. The Hollywood/Vine station has movie reels on the ceiling and on the mezzanine level there is a moviemaking theme. The red line is a great way to get to the Hollywood walk of fame. LA may not have the most extensive subway system, but what they have is pretty good.
@PossessedDonutz It's the best subway in the US, but the world? No way! I've experienced the NYC Subway and the quality of service cannot be compared to systems like the Hong Kong MTR or even the London Underground.
we have way more tains. We have way more people. we cant take care of EVERYTHING because of that. But most of our lines here are clean, and the train well kept. so eat it >_>
@PossessedDonutz Quality of service absolutely matters when discussing the "best" subway systems. I have traveled on the NYC Subway. It is NOT clean. In fact, it's filthy. The stations are hot (during the summer), smelly, grimy, and sometimes noisy. Your argument doesn't hold much weight when you consider that the Tokyo Subway handles way more people, but is still cleaner and much better maintained. So, you can eat it too.
@socalivy Not really dumbfuck. Theyve cleaned most up and are revolutionizing trains and stadions as well as building state of the art mass transit Hubs and tranfer points, as well as a brand new line. Did i mention the new R179's are coming in as well? and how there are more police now that keep it safe? oh and for the record, the TTc in Toronto is THE best of em all. clean and on time.
@PossessedDonutz LOL, why so serious? You need to travel BEYOND North America and really see some of the systems in Asia and Europe. In North America, I'd say Montreal is the cleanest, nicest, and most efficient system. But overall, I think the NYC Subway is the best. I'm just saying you need to travel more. Check out some videos of Hong Kong. Now THAT's an amazing system.
@VChapaev yo really??? 5 stops???? that shit goes allll the way thru LA,, north south AND east west... even has a hook up with a bus that cuts straight threw the valley.... ur tripppppin.. or u actually live on FRONT st. HA ( i laugh at my own jokes )
@IVSolar . But you're wrong. Metro has two heavy rail lines (purple and red) and three light rail lines (gold, green, and blue). Metrolink is neither heavy nor light rail using US terminology. It is commuter rail.

!!!WOW!!! Just like New York, if you do not hold on to everything really tight, it gets stolen. But then again you do not even have to hold on to anything really tight. You just getted mugged and alas it is stolen, anyways. ;----)))
The whole Metro System is Light rail with the exception of Metrolink which is powered by diesel fuel engines. Those trains are not considered part of the Metro System at all. They are long distance commuter trains that cover five counties. (L.A., Ventura, Orange, Riverside & San Bernardino.
The only difference between the under ground Metro and the above-ground Metro is it's power source. Above-ground is fed by live wire overhead and under ground is fed through the tracks.
@IVSolar and like i said above.. when ur going towards ventura county on the rail.... at the last stop u go street level and hop on a HUGE that has its own like street with no other vehicles on it and it cuts straight through the valley.
Either you're trying to bullshit us about living in LA, or you don't go into the city centre very often. There are five LINES, one of them is a pure suburban line, plus many suburban rail routes.
Those stations in Los Angeles are a hell of a lot cleaner than the subway stations in New York. But New York's subway system is still better than Los Angeles'system.
There's two lines, one (red) goes to Hollywood, Universal and the valley and the other (purple) goes up Wilshire Blvd to Western Avenue. Los Angeles has other rail lines as lightrail, the Blue line that goes Southeast to Downtown Long Beach, The Gold line to Chinatown and Pasadena, the Green line to the airport and the under construction Expo line from downtown to Culver CIty. An extension of the Gold line is under construction that goes from downtown Union Station to Boyle Heights and ELA.
see i think they should have made the trains at least look a little bit more modern like in some European countries, oh yeah and this does sound a bit like bart.
The traction motors on those Breda A650 cars were made by General Electric (GE) and the same model motors were used on the SF MUNI Breda LRVs, MBTA (The "T") #3 Red Line 1800-series cars by Bombardier, and the D.C. MetroRail Rohr 1000-series cars rehabbed by Breda.

I was gonna say; "is this person really from L.A.?"
Five stations? uuhhhh......yeaaaa, on Metrolink between L.A. and El Monte.
Hoping I'm correct but last I heard; L.A. already has over 137 miles of lightrail track.
