My neighbor and future school, the University of California system does this too...I think the entire country could easily embrace this one...go Yale...enjoy that because I leave Santa Monica College soon and you will be rivals...RRRR!! (But fellow friends to the environment!) Class...Do you like animals? "YES" Than eat them less often...just sayin...
@SpockPainter a result, which comes from a study that doesn't separate processed burritos that contains red meat and local organic beef. When looking at the latter alone, it doesn't happen.
By the way, the former has a lot of gluten in its refined flour, too. Maybe that has something to do with cancer?
00:40 --> I'm going meatless on Monday because it gives me a good FIGURE.01:12 --> Because any meat on a bicycle is worse for the environment than EATING vegetarian in a HUMMER.
What they are saying on the last statement is that eating meat causes more pollution than driving a Hummer.
Really great stuff. I've spoken at Yale a couple times, and the University consistently has a strong group of students committed to animal protection.
@InterestedYalie - I'm sure a lot these people go meatless all the time - but I think the point of the video / the meatless monday campaign is to make vegetarianism more accessible...
@ramrock77 If you're saying that the target audience of the Meatless Monday campaign is people who wouldn't be willing to go vegetarian but might go meatless one day a week, this video is not very good because it's full of people whose diets already are fully meatless explaining why a person's diet should be fully meatless not of people explaining to me a carnivore who would never go fully meatless why I should go meatless one day a week.
I applaud y'all 100% for following up your beliefs with action, but if you really believed this, why wouldn't you go meatless all the time instead of just on Mondays? I am not trying to stir up an argument; I just sincerely want to know.
Are there actually people at Yale who believe that there are packages of meat in your local grocery store that are 11% poop? I guess poop is a lot more delicious than I would have previously assumed. Not to mention invisible.
Each statement in this short film is verified. In case you were wondering about the source of the feces claim, regulations permit that birds be cooled in water instead of air post-slaughter. While they’re cooling, chicken carcasses typically eject any remaining digested feed. They consequently absorb the liquid within which they are immersed which comes to be a chlorinated fecal soup. Up to 11 percent of a chicken’s mass at the supermarket is this very water.
Great. That clears it up. So your claim is utterly false- even in the absolute worst case scenario- unless the water the small amount of fecal matter is mixed into suddenly transubstantiates into pure, 100% feces once it enters the chicken. Got it.
@YaleAnimalWelfare The video claims that "every package of meat contains up to 11% poop." I guess that statement allows for packages of meat that contain 0% poop, too. It just insinuates that having up to 11% poop in a package of meat is normal, which can be confusing to some people. I'm going to continue eating meat that contains about 0.1% poop because it's better than the supermarket meat.
yeah! GO VEG♥

@J801506 how about you get a life,
if you want to ignore the truth, then do it. nobody is stopping you.
p.s. the reason your "taste in food" is ruined, is because there is good reason for it.
nobody likes to hear about the bad, but it doesn't make it untrue.

Can anybody please tell me what they say at:
00:40 --> I'm going meatless on Monday because it gives me a good _____.
01:12 --> Because any meat on a bicycle is worse for the environment than __ vegetarian on a ____.
I'm not an English native speaker.
Thanks in advance and congratulations for your initiative!
Greetings from Brazil!

MEATLESS MONDAYS are a pretty good idea -- and goes GREAT with SHMEATLESS EVERYDAYS!
Seriously, check out the "most popular" article on NoShmeat.com, this is for everyone here, with their heart in the right place.
(Also check out this morning's post on eggs)
