Thank god you're still making this series. I was worried that ATAS was going down the road of so many other Abridged Series and had been caught in the event horizon of a black hole where it would slowly be torn apart by the gravitational shearing until there was nothing left. The time dilatation effect seemed to be applying here, but there's a new episode, so at least that means reality isn't entirely f**ked.

I am a Christian, though not a parent, but I've never been offended at the ideals or symbols of Avatar. My roomate's son watched the show, and I started following it because I found it interesting. I love that Aang is a pacifest. I was happy how Katara decided to be merciful. Iroh is like one of the best examples of patience I've ever seen. All virtues I value.

Yes, the series does have (a lot) of Buddhist elements, but just for the sake of the story. No one could possibly invent a new universe with an entirely new complex religion/belief, they have to borrow things from other religions/beliefs (how are they going to borrow stuff from Christianity?).
