I remember going to EWS in the late 80's early 90's and seeing Pauch, Horton, Leach, Cozze and others. It was such a great place to spend a Fri night. Who could forget the 3rd heat for the Mods which was billed as a mini feature. I remember there was even going to be a sister track to EWS to be built( but never was) in central Jersey somewhere. So sad that EWS is no more.
Great video. I remember going to EWS in the late 80's early 90's. Billy Pauch, Jim Horton Jr (sr too), Frank Cozze and others were a thrill to watch. What was amazing was the lack of dust at EWS. There was also a sister track to EWS that was proposed to be built in central nj, I forget exactly where, but was never built. I was in the area this past weekend and was shocked to see huge houses where this once great speedway once stood. I'll always remember he great racing on Fri nights at EWS.
I remember going to her every Friday night to watch my Uncle's car race.I had so much fun.You wouldn't belive the energy in the air. Will never forget.R.I.P
Every Friday my Dad also took us there. He loaded the car with 6 kids. 1 still in diapers. Had a sister who needed glasses. When she got them she realized the there was a back stretch. My brother sent me to this video and I cried watching it. Remember rases with Tex as the flagman And Pee Wee.
AnimationGenius, it is an open field now, but you can still see where the actual track was - Earth moving equipment is now on the property. Different stories on why it closed, but in the end, the family closed it.
AnimationGenius, pretty much drivable, but the start/finish line normally has water. I'd be very careful, as their favorite saying for cancellation was "wet grounds", well, it is very wet at times - I got my 4x4 stuck outside of turn 1 a few years ago.
All the good tracks are gone. It makes me not even want to go to the races anymore. Today racing just sucks. It's not the same as it was 10 yrs ago. New Egypt or Bridgeport just don't do it for me or others i talk 2.

@njrn is the track still "drivable" ... meaning is the dirt smooth enough for cars to run over? if i decided to take a couple laps is it possible?
