That woman is in dire need of a history lesson. The "Christmas season" is merely a ploy from the church, which grafted its rituals, doctrines, etc. onto pre-existing ceremonies e.g. Saturnalia and the winter solstice. Further study would show her that Jesus' birth couldn't possibly have taken place at this time of the year, but rather SEVERAL MONTHS earlier. In any case, Mr. McDonald is simply pointing out that the Bible is indeed WRONG: People truly do not need some god to be good.
He should have asked her, how exactly does a factual statement like the one posted on the bus offend her or anyone else for that matter? The sign did not say "There is no god and anyone who believes there is, is a MORON". That I can see some may find offensive. "Millions of Americans are Good without God" is a factual statement that can not be disputed and is by no means offensive...
To be honest, I never minded people telling me "merry Christmas." In the US, Christmas is just as much of a secular holiday as it is a religious one. I interpret Christmas as getting together with family and having a good time.
I mean, we say "happy Halloween" to each other, but that doesn't imply that we celebrate the festival of Samhain.
It was worse than Megan Kelly. Kelly was playful, this woman was pissed. She softened toward the end because the guy was so affable. If she out of the gate like that at me, I would have been much more confrontational.
@ugfabian Yeah I agree, to me it seemed she came out like Kelly and then "softened" as you say. This is the first time I've seen this particular anchor. Kelly would not likely have let the guest speak.
