@Philtration .....hello Philtration. Thank you for watching my video. You are correct. The Doors without Morrison did play the Aragon Ballroom in 1972. However, doorshistory does not report The Doors playing Electric Theater. If you have an exact DATE you feel The Doors played Electric Theater in Chicago, please send it over to me.
@Kimock7 I cannot find a date for the Electric Theater or Kinetic Playground so maybe the stuff that I have read about them playing there is wrong.
I know a lot of bands did perform at the Electric Theater and I have seen the Doors mentioned but no real date shows up.
Maybe it is another case of legend being taken as fact.
Thanks for the video man. I did pass both the Auditorium Theater and the Chess Records location yesterday and that is a very cool part of music history.
My parents (both deceased now sadly) told me they saw the Doors live in Chicago 1969-it was the first time they went out after I was born in late 1968. My Dad was an amateur photographer and I have slides he took of the Doors concert. I was born in Chicago but have never went to this building-I will next time I'm there Thanks!
@betwam ......thanks for the note, betwam. Keep those slides in a safe place. In fact, if you would like me to frame them in my bathroom and post a video of them here, I will. Just ask. Def be sure to attend a concert some day at Auditorium Theatre. My Dad (still alive) went to high school with Ray Manzarek - class of of '56 St. Rita. He, too, is a pianist.
Sorry but the Doors also played at the Electric Theater (also know as the Kinetic Playground) located at 4812 North Clark Street.
The building was demolished in 2003 for condos.
They also played at the Aragon Ballroom but that was after Jim died so that really does not count in my opinion.
