Other than that he still has control of his voice, not a bad recording.

i find it very interesting that tauber takes this song at a pace which seems to be much quicker that most of the artists with whom I am familiar. He was a great singer and a fine artist and musician, it would be fasinating to know what his reason were for the pace. Beautiful song, wonderful artist. thanks.

@operalament TAUBER WAS A VERY SICK MAN AT THE TIME OF THIS BROADCAST, IN FACT HE HAD LESS THAN SIX MONTHS TO LIVE. MAYBE THE REASON FOR THE QUICKER TEMPO, WAS SIMPLY A MATTER OF BREATH CONTROL WHICH HE STARTED TO STRUGGLE WITH BECAUSE OF HIS ILLNESS. THE SONG IS CORRECTLY PITCHED I AM SURE, WHO KNOWS?

IT IS SUCH A TESTAMENT TO HIS ARTISTRY THAT IT TOUCHES THE HEART SO MUCH. THE EARLIER PARLOPHNE VERSION IS MUCH SLOWER.
