And contrary to what some think, anyone who has seen him after a gig will know, yes he likes to drink but he is NOT totally out of it whilst performing, he is just very into whatever he's singing. He has never felt completely comfortable on stage and always has an ungainly stance, stooping over the microphone, who cares?! If he can deliver a song with amazing emotion and energy

OK... I saw him in Vancouver on Monday evening. He was amazing! When he's singing without his guitar he hunches over. When he sings with his guitar in front of him he stands up really straight... it's a prop or a security blanket or something. I think deep down inside he's still seriously self-conscious being on stage. He's still so young and it's GOT to effect him. He comes across that way in interviews too - when you can actually understand him!

I don't think he's drunk, he is the same way at almost all of his shows...perhaps it's just the way he performs? For someone as drunk as he appears to be, he remembers every chord, every word and is pitch perfect which would be extremely impressive :)

It's a well-known fact that when someone SINGS, their voice sounds a lot different from their SPEAKING voice. Just look at Bono (from U2). He has a heavy Irish accent when he speaks, but no accent at all when he sings. It's possible that it could be reversed with Paolo. Maybe his singing voice is a lot more defined and accented than his speaking voice.
