  • Incredible, The better RC; ...Incredible

  • Dont be a redneck, let the original engine sounds.

  • tell you something i would rather go on holiday on one of these bueties than go on a plane with no excitement involved at all also the sound of the engine u wouldnt need to listen to the crying child behind you :D

  • Miss Lace (aka Dorothy Partington is my mother). She was the model and inspiration for the Male Call cartoon series by cartoonist Milton Caniff. Mother was Miss Lace from 1941-1946 and the strip was distributed to over 3,000 bases around the world. Mother passed away last month, and she would have been so gratified and uplifted by this video tribute to the plane that bears her likeness and character. I like to think of her in the sky now, only much higher up. This video is so inspiring.

  • Hello ,it is very nice airplane. Is it possible to get more information about airplane, like scale, weight , wingspan material for construction etc.? Bigero

  • Very nice!

  • Great plane. Great video! Very nicely done.

  • Fantastic... thank you.

  • where could you buy this because i also want a rc b 17

  • what happen to her after?

  • nice job bomber....

  • Nicely done..!

  • First things first. That piece of footage of the old birds being lined up for destruction is truely heart-breaking. I know they were weapons but surely....... Anyway, Great Tribute. Excellent video. Absolutely faultless model. That Pilot was great. The build looks as though a lot of love was involved. I love the beautiful finish on that polished Metal surface. How was that achieved? I never get results like that. Truely remarkable. New subscriber here.

  • wonderful

  • Excellent, content , editing camera the lot A++++

  • Very impressed. Particularly liked that you have the ability to start each engine individually, remotely.

  • Having said that... Do you have the ability to start the engines individually, remotely? Or was it just shutting down the engines played backwards?

  • BTW, you can fly on the real thing B17G for about $400. I have. It was worth every penny.

  • @neomuttley oh please can you tell me where you go for that?

  • There was a famous Liberator pilot who did very hard things to bring his plane back intact. After surviving combat, what happened? He watched on TV as his bomber was summarily shoved into a pit to be scrapped.... He was flabbergasted.

  • Great tribute..Nice toy..Kind of sad to see those old war relics sitting in the arizona heat, rotting away, when so many depended on them...That's allot of scrap metal and our tax dollars sitting there.

  • I can't say anymore than IT"S A GREAT VIDEO......Thank you

  • Nice!-Great B-17 tribute. My dad flew 51 missions over Europe in B-17s as a waistgunner during WWII. He lost many crewmates & some of his crew were German POWs. Today, at age 88, he says he is one of the luckiest men on earth to have survived. He was among those who helped prepare these planes for storage - he called it "pickling'' the planes.

  • Great Airplane! A proper salute to a generation of true HERO's

  • my grandpop flew in this daniel DeTullio. he was the top gunner i believe

  • i wish it crashed....

  • Great video. Well done.

  • Good¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • that CANT be the actual engine sound...IS IT?!?!

  • p.s. and btw, fantastic model! The natural metal finish is especially impressive. Did you use some kind of aluminum foil for it?

  • There's nothing like a B-17! ***** Fantastic model, filming and flying. What a tribute to, one important reason, why we continue to live free. Thanks for sharing this... Perhaps, someday, I'll build one for myself.

  • Excellent model building, end especially excellent flying skills! None of that jerking around that one usually sees in flying rc aircraft. Was that engine starting sequence filmed in reverse? I can't believe the plane has self- starters unless it's battery- powered.

  • The model is battery powered. It was happenstance that one motor started slightly before the other. Serandipity !!

  • Marvelous craftsmanship and tribute!

  • Fear the luftwaffe? This is an american plane...

  • soo....let me get this straight....because we dispossed of aircraft that 5 years after the War ended were obsolete we screwed ourselves over....even though even now the USAF is the most advanced and by far the best air force in the world...and had we kept those planes we would have fallen back into a depression right after WW2 ..we sold the planes for scrap its not like we just tossed them away..many of them were recycled and used to build new planes..so please dont say stuff that is irrelevant.

  • Right....

We're a terrible country because we recycled most of 125,000 obsolete aircraft. Just saving a couple for the museums wasnt enough, we should have kept every single one of them in the field you see in this video. Oh and we could pay several hundred people to maintain them too! What a great idea!

Idiots like you that cant stop complaining about what should have happened or what they want are usually the causes of a countries flaws.

  • Explain to me why we Americans should be ashamed. These old planes, they were obsolete and of no use after the war! You should be embarrassed to post such an idiotic statement.

  • Greate greate Job. Felicidades!

    Saludos desde México.

  • Very nice job...very nice...

    JD

  • Fantastic! Thanks for posting.

I built the 1/72 Airfix kit of 'A Bit O Lace' when I was younger. I still have it and an Airfix jigsaw depicting the aircraft too.

What's in the video is clearly out of my league, but I can appreciate a job very well done nonetheless.

  • What scale is this plane and have you considered building to scale for one the German built 14 cylinder radials?

  • Nice vid and BEAUTIFUL aircraft. Thanks for sharing!

  • that is cool!

  • I'd like to say this to all those who reply with "if i built this model, I'd be afraid to fly it", then never build a model like it. I used to build similar models and you can't be afraid to fly them. Half the fun of having these aircraft, is the ability to see them fly. If you build it and not fly it, it's not as rewarding. Cheers :)

  • If I had built a model like that I would be afraid to fly it. This is a nice video, and a very well done model. I have a poster of this airplane. It's nice to have a little more background on it.

  • Very nicely done video and love the 12 o clock high music! Beautiful plane! I built a 1/48 model of it back in the 90's. One of my favorite B-17's !

  • Nice use of "Best Years of Our Lives" video and 12 O'clock High music!

  • What the hell are you even trying to say? Please do the world a favor and learn how to complete a sentence. And you would not have even had the ability to watch High Definition if it wasn't for the Black and White era and technology.

  • man, the beginning was realy hurting me,bud the rc modell is great, we still find some lost birds now and then here in Holland, hopefully without crew, cya!

  • exellent vid did,nt even think it was a model very well done

  • What an incredible model.

Wow only if I had one of those to show dear ole dad.

But I sure hate that boneyard.

What a shame to recycle those great warbirds.

Those vintage aircraft are worth a lot of money today.

An old refrigerator, washer, dryer or stove is worth well

    practically nothing

  • yo were did you fine the beging drum solo for this video wich has one of the most beautifull plans

  • Excellent!! Beautiful airplane!!

  • Bomberguy, benn watching your vids here on YouTube for the past 2 1nd 1/2 hours. Excellent stuff you have. For this one, a great tribute and an excellent transition at 1:25, better then most Hollywood films do when they try.

  • Absolutely stunning example of the old girl..Not to mention the theme from the old show "12 o'clock High" Nice touch. Bravo

  • beautiful plane.

  • I was wondering if anyone would happen to know what movie or such that clip is from the beginning? I'm having trouble identifying who the actors are or what it's from.

  • Think it is from:The best days of our lives, movie from 1946.

  • B-17 Flying Fortress, flown by valiant men to victory.

  • man nice video. i love that plane.

  • Real bomber engine sound was dubbed over the video you tools

  • Ive made the airfix kit of this plane so many times. Its a sin that aircraft are left in the desert, there soldiers them selves to effect, Hope miss lace was saved.

  • Don't get sentimental over nuts & bolts. They are pieces of metal fashioned together in a certain manner...and are nothing without the men that fly them.

  • And when you live in them, you love them...(from a Connie crewman)

  • It just kind of luck.

  • Gave me goosebumps! My dad (deceased)was a B-17 pilot in WWII and his love for the plane was next to none! Fantastic job

  • A true work of art

  • great video!

  • The sound that thing makes is unbeliveable!!

  • Stirring & awesome. It even landed like the real deal. I am overcome w/ envy;-)

  • 83 missions and no losses? Yeowza!

Fantastic cinematography, by the way. Perfect blend from the B/W take on the real bomber to the color take on the model. Great production. The best take on a model presentation I have yet seen here on YT. Very well done all around!

  • Nice plane, but how are you supposed to fit the crew inside?

  • nice video

  • lol it is so big amazing

  • I just saw one at Beverly, Ma airport on Sunday. I was a 12 o'clock high tv series fan as a kid, gotta say you did a great job

  • God, I love that plane, it's one of the most beautiful planes ever!

  • @mdrov Next to the Mustang, of course xD

  • Wow

what a amazing scale electric plane!!

  • what a good video

    so realistic in all aspects

    beautiful scale plane

    the take off -- ohh

    congratulationS

    greetings from norway

  • Well done, nice replica of the most beautiful plane ever built.....the B-17!

  • has scenes from a great 1946 oscar wining movie, I cant remember movies name, may be someone can help? that was a great scene!! returned pilot goes to see old B-17 scrap yard.

  • "The Best Years of Our Lives" He was a "soda jerk" before the war and then a Bombadier. While waiting for a flight out of town, he wanders through the scrap yard and get's hired by the company scrapping them.

  • thanks, that was a really great movie.. still advanced facts to come, I allways remember that bar scene with the young marine without hands playing piano and that guy saying, what a waste! we fought the wrong side! and simbolic pick up of US flag from the floor!!

  • so many people died in those planes , who would want that kind of memory

  • No one died in this one though

  • @Sheepsausage

I can't understand that statement. So many people died in the war, but that plane probably brought home (under tremendous fire) more troops than any other plane ever made. Possibly the best plane ever built.

  • @Sheepsausage Because, those hot do not remember history are doomed to repeat it.

  • Great video. It took me a while, but is that music from the old series, "12 o'clock High"?

  • really sad how so many WW2 planes got scrapped

I wish I could go back in time and purchase all those planes they were really dirt cheap back then after the war

  • Awesome, thank you. Two uncles and my dad fought in WW2. One uncle died in Germany. I'm a Vietnam vet. Did the US we fought & bled for die? We're so divided these days. No will to fight anymore except a few & they are dying in Iraq & the Ghan.

  • Great, looks real

  • luv ur vids, do those come in 1/5 scale??

  • You made this video awesome. It looks realistic the way you did the close-up shots. Great job! 5/5

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not truw i did a 500 hundred page report on b-17's and thay fly 25 misisson and then the crew get's to go home lie lie it did not do some 83 misisson. you are a desever

  • what happened to that bomber anyway?

  • fantastic work! inspiration for anyone just starting with r/c

  • Absolutely a masterpiece!

  • they shoulda kept em for the korean they woulda made great gunships

  • wich side north or south?

  • well...which ever the side who got there hands on them first

  • 1:36 i really thought it was the real one... XD

  • thats such a shame, i woulda bought one of those p- 51s in a heart beat

  • vary nice video

  • War is never glorious, but this film is a great shot.

  • FANTASTIC!!!

  • Excellent, excellent work

  • that looks almost exactly like the real thing, ive been around a b17 before and this is the best model ive seen, nice job!

  • that a great model how much did it cost to build

  • about $800

  • cool

  • That is a shit load of plane parts man

  • very well done, love the plane. Yours as well!! Thanks for posting

  • Cool video dude.Cool video.Love the engine sound too.

  • whats the name of the song you used for your video? Whole thing is great!

  • Ed, very nice model...the video is one of the best. I remember my Dad traveling to Arizona to see the WW2 graveyard...he flew a B-17 in the war. Sound effects really add to it. I may get back into RC.

  • Very nice, enjoyed the production. Great model

  • fab!!!

  • Nice smooth flying! Your a credit!

  • very nice I liked the retractable landing gear nice touch

  • This is the way The Emperor of the Sun was filmed..Beautiful..

  • Awesome, really awesome. The music and video

    were super!!!!!!!

  • where did you find the Twelve O'Clock High Theme.

  • bobheffner(dot)com/B17/12high.mp3

  • she's beautiful, isn't she? Pretty vid :)

  • I keep coming back to this video. You've built what has to the "the ultimate" r.c. model. A tribute actually to the actual airplane. Thank you.

  • The best of the best here.

  • Bomberguy this is truly amazing. 5* stuff for me! Please keep an eye out for our film that we are reaching completion on...a documentary footage of the "only intact" submersed B17. Please send a message to me at our channel and keep up the good work, many thanks.

  • b-17 my fav plane forver

  • I liked the video of the plane. I had a plastic model of A bit o Lace when I was kid. One suggestion is to slow down the take off and flying sequeences . I think this would add more to the reality of how they flew in real time. Models tend to jump around in the air and slowing the frame rate would help eliminate this. Great video.

  • how ironic wud it be if it crashed

  • I like it!!

  • Really nice! CH

  • kewl vid

  • that's the kind of RC plane i dream of having....wow

  • Beautiful movie! It's a shame that so many of these planes were torn apart. Makes me want to cry.

  • lol dont fly it lol that thing so expensive no insurance on that maybe haha

  • ABSOLUTLY FUCKEN JEALOUS

  • Nice work...flak ahead pilot.

  • Bomberguy getting carried away with things. LOL!Top work Fella!

  • very cool B-17 Bomber model video

  • What a "model" tribute. Amazing! Thank you.

  • very, very cool. i actually flew in a real one in the august of 2007 in W.I. nice video

  • Very awesome! The B-17 was an iconic aircraft and your model certainly pays tribute. Im into models myself, but the static display kind.CHeck out my videos to see them on display!

  • Excellent sound editing. Sounds EXACTLY like our 1:1 B-17 Yankee Lady.

  • Very nicely done piece; really professional looking, and the modeling is worthy of a static scale plane. The overdub of the real radials staring up is superb - if you could sell model engines that sounded like that, you be rich in no time!

  • btw...the engines of the model are electric???or use fuel??how bis is and how much cost make one B17 like that?? thanks

  • great work!but..¿is true the film at the beginning??the airplanes that meke the victory in the skyes where dissarm and end in a place like that???

  • Yeah in the U.S all the old planes get taken to plane graveyards like that.

  • Don't you mean Just plane great? :P

    Sorry... Lame, I know.

  • Just plain great... Thanks.

  • I can play the guitar...but no way could I even attempt to build a model like that! Stand proud sir, you are at the top of your hobby!

  • I spoke with you and took numerous pictures of this plane when you flew it at Van Nuys California's Apollo field in 2006, I think you have one of the finest examples of an excellent RC plane anywhere. The detail up close is incredible.

I saw it fly as good as it looks as well, I have pictures of it flying and you taxiing in after landing. This video and its theme are awesome too, nice work.

    Just a magnificent plane!!!

  • Thanks, but I can't play the guitar

  • Jim Rice AMA VP DST 8 was informed of the practice of swooping in 2007 at my now X club but did nothing. He was told 2 times. Gas is for losers and abusers. When you idiots finally kill someone on the runway by swooping overhead maybe youll learn. Way to go JIM RICE- Liar and Coward.

Dont Join a GAS club ever go electric.

  • so amazing! hyh

  • brilliant

  • to be honest, the part where the engines start and the plane taxies away looks like a model flying simulator...

if it is, shame on you, if it isn't, nice model!!!

  • It's the real model. Take a look under the wing, you can see the servo rod to the aileron.

  • great plane, still prefer the lancaster because it had better engines and could carry twice as much as the b-17

  • What a great tribute to a gallant old war bird. As well as to those who risked their lives aboard her. So that we may all live in freedom.

  • the beginning is really sad....

  • Excellent. Outstanding. Thanks for preserving the memory of one of the greatest aircraft ever built and one who brought back a lot of our guys in one piece.

  • i got a b-17 rc plane to:)

  • Beautiful. Love and prefer to hear actual audio, though.

  • Awesome tribute to one of the truly great war horses of WWII. Keep up the good work.

  • Heroes, althought there were probably some great horses too :)

  • There she goes, flying in the sky.

  • WOW Very nice model.

  • An excellent video, a wonderful production - a very fine tribute. Thank you.

  • Great plane, nice landing, and what's scale of this model.

  • 1:18

  • Where to go from here - how to top this. Oh wait: a lancaster would do it nicely.

  • Finest video tribute I have seen on here! Thank you!

  • I HATE JUNKYARDS! IT'S SO UNFAIR!!

  • sniff sniff

  • Damnit... now I'm all choked up...

  • sweet model, fantastic tribute, cool vid.

  • The Graveyard of B-17 was a sad sight...to all who served and those who past on, my heart thanks with each air I breathe, and my kids breathe. Fly High, to God's Eternal Sky.
