@MervueMeringue To be honest.... No Matt is not. He is trying to be as good as Tennant but DT was the Doctor for 4 years and he brought the show back to the big time. That's why DT is seen as a better Doctor. Besides scenes like this are way better than some of Matt's. I'm not putting Matt down he is a good actor but DT is better in my opinion

@mherbison531 Well... I respect your opinion, but I'm going to criticise it anyway! It was technically Christopher Eccleston who brought the show back properly, though I guess DT did add to that. And it's unfair to compare the time they've been the Doctor for, considering Matt may have several years ahead of him! And I think that Matt can pull of scenes like this to (albeit this happens more rarely, but I think this is in the writing), such as the scene at the end of The Doctor's Wife.

@MervueMeringue I have nothing against Christopher or any of the Doctors. I just felt that David kept the show going. If fans didnt like David after Christopher left then the show would have died and stayed dead. However now David has built so much momentum there's not as much pressure on Matt but he's trying to be as big a star as he can be in the role. It's not an insult but David made all the emotional scenes brilliant whereas Matt is trying too hard I think

@mherbison531 All the doctors have done something different in the role, 10 was much more human whereas 11 is crazy alien and bonkers, he approaches the emotional scenes differently but all the actors in the new series have been brilliant

@arwenraven Indeed they have but I suppose I am still trying to get used to them. David was the Doctor for 4 years and he was brilliant at it. Matt is indeed a great actor as well and the new actors/actresses are rally keeping the show alive. I will admit I do not like the new Dalek, I preferred David's Daleks. These new colourful ones seem like they are making them nice for the kids to look at

@AnaisForTheWin That is not what the Daleks are about. They are supposed to be a scary, dangerous enemy but recently it seems they have lost the plot. The Daleks, Supreme Dalek, D Emperor were all incredible, these 'power ranger' ones are simply for the kids. What do you think of their new look?

With all the adult themes of these current series quoting "The change is for kids" is nonsensical.

You've only seen them in proper outing so far and that wasn't even an entire episode.

I don't think they are any less threatening and in all honesty I think they look much better than the originals, also the voice is a definite improvement.

@tom133991 Some aspects are an improvment but the multi colours are just like the originals, way back in the old days. Back then Blue was drones, red was tactician and black/gold was supreme. I don't know why they had to colour code them again. I know the yellow is called 'Eternal' but what does it do?

The Ecclestone/Tennant Darleks have been defeated multiple times each series.

It was getting a little redundant, I'm personally glad with the change as it does bring something new with the fact as long as their next story is handled properly they it can shake up the doctors encounters with the darleks to a much greater extent.

It's obvious by your comments that you're very attached to tennants doctor, understandable but Matt smith is not acting like him in anyway, I honestly can't see how you can compare the two they are very different doctors, Tennant based his doctor on Colin bakers 5th doctor, Matt seemingly has based it on a mix between a young 1st and 6th doctor.

@tom133991 I loved Jon, Tom, Colin, Sylvestor, Christopher, David and I have quickly grown fond of Matt. I respect each of them for their styles and portrayal of the Doctor. I suppose because David was the previous one and done a fine job its hard to let go. Before the show returned the only eps I seen were Genesis of the Daleks, hence why Davros is my fav villain

@mherbison531 I agree with you, Tennants Dr as well as Eccelstons hinted at how old he was and how lonely he now is, and thats what made the character better. Matts Doc could be just as great but the new writers haven't included this factor in his characterisation which makes it...sadly, shitter.

@mherbison531 No, he's not better. He's different. Each regeneration of the Doctor has a different persona, and if you can't figure that out, you're in the wrong fandom. I adore DT. Don't get me wrong. I love every single one of his episodes. But I also love every single one of Matt's. He is amazing. Take some time and really *watch* him and learn to appreciate him for who he is.

I miss Tennant's Doctor. I mean, don't get me wrong- Eleven is brilliant and amazing and all kinds of wonderful but... I don't know. It just doesn't feel quite right anymore. People can call Ten(nant)'s era melodramatic and soppy if they want, but I don't mind. His general emo-ness was appealing in its own way, because that was the essence of Ten: he felt everything- pain and joy, rage and elation- so much more fiercely than before, and it was wondrous.
