i find the the double sided e-tool(millatary shovel) is fine,and cheap too.

Masonry brick hammers are nearly identical to geology hammers but less expensive .I like the flat claw type can dig and split shale .

That's my preferred hammer too. I like the chisel end better than the pick end of the pick end of the geologist hammer.
