  • Thank you for posting this 4-part series. I am a beginning "fossil hunter", and this was very informative. Neat to get tips and a list of basic equipment from someone who is seasoned. Please post more on this subject if possible. Thanks again for posting!

  • i find the the double sided e-tool(millatary shovel) is fine,and cheap too.

  • Masonry brick hammers are nearly identical to geology hammers but less expensive .I like the flat claw type can dig and split shale .

  • That's my preferred hammer too. I like the chisel end better than the pick end of the pick end of the geologist hammer.
