@Izybellaz Perhaps in "Grand hotel" her acting seems a bit too much . But in "Queen Christine" , "Mata Hari" "Ninotchka" "Anna Karenina" and "Camille" she was great. she made me cry at the end of "Camille"
@Izybellaz All my apologize this line was for RayL1983 i 'm really sorry you' re not brony it's me who are stupid again sorry. all i can said it's i"m sorry if i hurt you or surprise you.
You read a lot about her but I can't see what the fuss is about. She seems quite prosaic. I guess that if she hadn't been she would not have been successful because the everyday people would have identified with her and given their two pennies at the cinema. .
She doesn't even say "vant". . . I distinctly hear her say "WANT". People were just so mystified by the actress herself -- and her enigmatic ways -- that they had to ridicule her in any way they could, I guess. They didn't understand her like I do -- though I never had the good fortune of meeting her in person. But, as my name suggests, I firmly believe she and I are kindred spirits. (Though I hardly possess her glorious beauty.)
@Andulamb I hear "want" as well, lol. A few weeks ago, I watched the Snow White cartoon, and the Queen say "Magic Mirror on the wall", not "Mirror, Mirror on the wall". Funny how people confuse themselves and remember things the wrong way, and then spread that around, lol.
@Rosannasfriend Just checked out "Snow White," and you're right. Not only does the Queen SAY "Magic Mirror on the wall," but the phrase is also shown in the animated Snow White book at the beginning. How did people get that wrong?
@AnneAulisRobin probably cuz she was so reclusive in real life . She was a hermit who never signed autographs did interviews or socialized at public gatherings
@the44118 Garbo the recluse is a myth. She lived in NY and enjoyed an active social life with lots of friends and companions. She took long walks daily in Manhattan. And she never said that she wanted to be alone. She said that she wanted to be "left alone", meaning she did not enjoy being in the media spotlight. It was publicity that she shunned, not people nor life. She was not a recluse; she was aloof and private about her personal life. There is a enormous difference.
when my computer crashed and this clip played after a spooky series of events during which NONE of Garbo's clips would import.... I was FREAKED OUT! ...
Oh...so this is where MLP:FiM got it from. Rarity says this line, "I vant to be alone...", I knew it was a parody but I didn't know from where.

Why do people quote her as saying "vant" when she clearly says "want"?

In 1969 Greta Garbo had been at the Woodstock festival three days by smoking grass. At the time she said the less-known classic line:
"I vant to be a lawn."

@saynotoursoap Thanks for the clarification! makes her more of a regular human being--but she's still divine, of course.

Ugh, I can't stomach the music that accompanied this scene. God, I just want to mute the whole thing. Except for the dialogue, of course.
