  • I love this guy....no homo.

  • jesus, close to 50?!?

  • buddy good stuff but work on your legs

  • It's pretty sad how he's making videos to help people for free yet he gets hated on by the fat, out of shape people. To all of you obese trolls, put down the bag of chips and do some pushups. =D

  • hey scooby ive been following your workout program on your website and it seems to be working well for me. i was woundering what you thought of p90x..? is that where you got your idea for muscle confusion?

  • Comment removed

  • this guy looks 35 ish

  • steroids + scooby = MR OLYMPIA 2011

  • 90s? god damn. i only do 30

  • CLOSE to 50 WHAT THE HELL.

    HE LOOKS 40?

  • Scooby... your an inspiration to others... Thanks for the great info, keep up the good work from burdy and daz hi5

  • By the way Scott's assertion is basically thus: the 'muscle confusion myth' evolved out of a truism that became distorted over time. Muscles CAN become "adaptive" to whatever you throw at them. However, what they become adaptive to that requires constant augmentation is the "volume load" - NOT the exercise selection or workout sequencing. So if the muscles are not 'volume overloaded' and adequately recuperated between those volume overload sessions (workouts), they simply stop making progress.

  • Hey Scooby wonder what you think of this piece that Scott Abbett wrote on his assertion that muscle confusion is a "myth"? - google "scott abbett muscle confusion"

  • 90lb chest flies that's insane!

  • before i start doing heavy weights i do a set of warm up with low weight high rep (i do that before i start working out any muscle group), and at the next set i raise the weight and so on, until at the last forth set i do maximum weight for 4 reps.

is this form of working out ok ???

    thank you very much.

  • i rarely do heavy weights, and I'm 19. If I can't do more than 8 reps with a starting weight, i'll usually drop the weight a bit. Of course, I throw in a heavier, low rep workout every so often for variation as I see fit.

  • muscle confusion is something even advanced lifters sometimes forget. im an advanced lifter, but always get carried away with doing heavy weights. i mix it up in other areas, but i need to do it more with doing more reps.

  • ur gettin 50 u gotta kidding woow bodybuilding really work

  • hey scooby or any1 that can reply im wondering should i do heavy lifting liek the week and i take one of those days of the week and do less weight more reps?

  • dude a beast!!!!! pushin 50 rockin like a 30 year old!!!!

  • @99aeroman thats one of the reasons, i never ever reveal my age. cause people judge you by it. if people don't know it, they can no longer make comments or judge you by your age.

  • tour chin looks funny when talking, it's like a second face.

  • @ 1:24 he sounds like Arnold Schwarzenegger

  • I have a question, please answer it. Im 15 yrs old and my max bench is 220 for 3reps, but i normaly do, 100lbs 12reps, then 120 10reps, then 150 for 8-6reps, but the instructors said Im to young to lift that heavy, cause Im only 70kg, they prefer me to do moderate weights and high reps, for example, 50lbs at bench, 25 reps, then 30 then 40, they said that I would get more cuts, grow my muscle and not destroy it. So are they right? btw, Im muscular but not that toned., please reply

  • @XTropaXTroopsX Keep doing what you're doing, dont listen to them

  • @XTropaXTroopsX Like gangsterninja said, just keep doing what you're doing. If you can bench 220 I don't think benching 50 will do a thing for you... even doing push-ups would be better than that (works more muscles). And what does bodyweight have to do with it? Everyone's body is different, different bone structures, etc., means different strength potential.

That whole reps for cuts thing is a myth. To get ripped, you need to lose bodyfat. Same thing with getting "toned". Good luck.

  • @BlockedNasalPassages ur a retard this guy knows what hes doing and he looks like he does too, if you wanna talk prove that your theory is right.

  • 90lbs for flys???? Brutal. Go Scoob!!!!

  • y ar u doing them so slow? Ur making ur muscles work with a slow twitch, and ur putting unnecessary strain on ur joints. On your way down u should be in control but not that slow. When pushing the weight up it should be an explosive movement

  • he has bin doing this for 24 years so i think he knows what to do!!

  • @Stifledsubmission tell that to scooby face to face. im sure he knows what hes doing, plus slow is good, it'll train the lil muscles that arnt often used if you do them quick and explosive. and the joint thing, if you can handle the weight, it shouldn't be a big problem especially if you only do heavy once a month like scooby. now if you have a very difficult time even holding the dumbbells up, yeah slow will kill your joints.

  • slow movements should be done with light weights 8-10 reps. 3-5 reps shoudl be done explosively

  • All your videos are great. Thanks, Scoob.

  • Scooby causes earthquakes when he works out, so ya betta watch out ;)

  • damn hes buff for 50, I thought it all started to sag at 40 lol ( unless your a roid monster)

  • Hey quick question: I'm 21 coming up 6'1 185. I'm lean, I want to get bulkier but also keep my cardio up, and possible six pack, alot there. What is the best answer for all this in a nut shell?

  • chicken

    rice

    vegtables

    potatoes

    eggs

    protien shakes

    oatmeal

    flax seeds

  • @hulkamaniafanforever Too complicated to be put in a nut shell. Surf the web and learn, you lazy bastard!

  • Yea it was a question, its too bad u don't have the answer to it. I spend more time lifting experiencing myself, than a lazy computer buff.

  • Scooby is awesome. He is one of the only ones out there who honestly are trying to help people without trying to get rich off of it. Plus he doesn't shove it in your face that he's "always right"...he just shows what's worked for him. And it's very clear....his technique has worked VERY well for him. Amazing physique

  • @chuckcanavi he does with inclines i know that, not forsure on flat. would help the shoulders im sure

  • WHOA - earthquake at 2:41

One day I'm gonna be able to move such weights too

  • Hey Scooby,

I know you keep your shoulder blades pinned together for flyz...do you also pin your shoulder blades for benchpresses and dumbell presses as well?

    Thanks!

  • First of all close to 50, I thought you were like late 30s.

Second, I can't even move a 90lb dumbell, awesome workout, keep up the good work!!!!

  • 90 pound flys... your kidding me :D

  • haha i only use 25 lb flies..haha im weak.

  • At 48-49 years old too!!

  • hey scooby have you ever used the 1.5 rep technique? I have used it just for pushups and pullups. It seems to work well, not like you really need it lol. But, it targets the various muscles at different times so makes the exercise more muscle specific.

  • The principle of using both high rep/low rep is often misunderstood. It does not increase your gains in mass, in fact, lowers them. However, you will have more endurance. It is a good idea to mix to have good overall power and endurance. Also high reps are good to avoid injury (as Scooby mentioned). Mixing it up means, in my opinion, targeting muscles from various angles, trying different exercises ja constantly challenging yourself with more weight. (instead of benching 80kg week after week)

  • almost 50? holy of the cow!!! lol

  • lol if u scroll down and just listen to it without watchin it it sounds like hes takin a mean shiit lmao ..."oh maybe one more idk" lol

  • sick

  • hey scooby :) i love your awesome videos.. you know that video of yours, "Killer Home Chest Workout", is it okay if i do 3 sets with 60 seconds of rest between each of the sets and do it about 2-3 times a week?

  • stupit gayy

  • oh man i thought he is 30-40 old,i can't belive he is 50 X.x

  • wow! he's 50!

He looks and sounds like a 30 year old guy

  • a person who have just started weightlifting can do heavy weights for the whole body every workout 3 times a week as long as they get 48 hours of rest. they can do this for many months before they need to change their program and continiue with heavy weights 3 times a week. only people who have been lifting for about 1+ year need to shift between heavy, light and heavy. Read Starting Strength to learn this.

  • what about for teens? 16 yrs

  • lol kinda creepy and gross u can see sweat start to develop on his chest. looks strange seeing it come out in live action

  • didnt even notice? but why did u ?

  • because i was looking at his pecs because thats what the workout is for?

  • All of this is very true, and very wise. A long time ago, I'd only use minimal weight (as I was told, you see) and I wasn't making any gains whatsoever. However, now I realized the importance of "mixing" weight levels and the amount of sets to reps you perform. Like now, when I do my Lats, I use a cable row system. I first perform 2 sets and 4 reps of 170 pounds, then reduce to 110 pounds, and pull 3 sets with 10 reps...then I perform drop sets to finish off with.

  • lol my mom walked in on me and that i was watching porn LMAO but then shes seen the vid i was watching

  • Scooby old till i can build muscles?

  • Scooby is the man. Follow him learn and live well.

Supplements you say??? no frickin way.Following his style to the T cant wait for results.Believe in what you trust, trust in what you believe...

  • Fucking Scooby dooby Dooooo

  • I agree with the change but dont stop doing that heavy weight. Push yourself to muscle failure and increase your strength. Power can equal size. Call me a meat head i guess. I weigh 208 and press 365 Using pymids, negatives and percentages

  • he said nothing about stopping it altogether

  • Very good video indeed

This is also a perfect example that you don't need to be big packed like the pro's in the gym to be strong. Scooby has a very natural build body and I believe he has much more strenght than a bigger bodybuilder.

I'am just 21 old, but can lift weights like many adults simply because of natural training.

At this point I would like to thank Scooby for his awesome work. It really changed my whole training lifestyle with good results.

    Keep up the good work!

  • One of the few videos that gives me very fresh info. since Ive seen the rest more than once :)

  • Scooby is one of few people that deserve a medal... I appreciate your work ;)

  • @MrHank86 yeah yo....Scooby's GREAT !

  • If you're hating on this guy then you're either retarded or just a moron jealous of him.

This guy is the man. There's no one like him on youtube. >>>Real exercises, real hints.

  • @lost4soul i'm with you man. people who think this guy isn't a-class are asswipes.

not only has this guy got many excercises and hints but also it's all damn free. the man isn't asking for money. just donation. that's cool.

  • @lost4soul yeh i totoly agree, he has the educational background to support his facts and from seeing his physical shape u can tell, this guy knows exactly whats his doing...i hate youtube haters, and theose spammers that go around spamming every trailer n etc.

  • I totally agree. No scams just good advice and workouts. Keep it up man

  • man train your legs !

  • "Sorry, this isnt a great video :("

Don't worry Scooby it's good! I was so confused about muscle confusion in work outs and now I'm not.

    Thanks!

  • Awesome, keep up the good work! :)

  • My god..flies with 90s is insane.

    Your the man, Scooby!

  • Scooby your an animal!!! Thanks for the great videos!!!

  • id like to thank you for the videos you post, i work out constantly and im toned but i cant seem to grow but this has helped and i have abs i just couldnt get rid of that little bit of fat over them to see them and the abs fast 1&2 videos helped me a lot especialy the nutrition!!! :) THANKS SCOOBBBBYYYY :)))

  • hes wack blood haha i can do 150 on my chest hes weak nd i'm filipino

  • every1 cares.

  • nope

  • holy shit did u say 90 lbs each??? holy shit thats alot

  • scooby Im 25yrs old and I wanna look like you when I grow up lol thanks for posting great vid

  • if you want to look anything like that you need to be training very hard now!! in fact you should already well under way of looking like that.

  • ey scooby i trie the low weight high rep for two weeks and my bench press for high wiehgt low rep progressed liike crazy its not alot but i had trouble doing 70 but today i got up to 75 for 10

  • he means 90 per arm i think, if you look closely jusyt before he dos the flys on the weight plate says 10 on it, meaning 10lbs

  • That is 90 I'm doing in the video (including the 5lbs for the bar and spinlocks). I'm using 100s today :)

  • each dumbbell has four tens and six 7.5s plus 5 for the bar/spinlock = 90lbs per dumbbell. People often forget to count the handle/spinlock weight.

  • nice boddy hunny

  • ok a bit of advice...dont ever record a video upside down its uber unprofessional and when you do the lift try putting some music over the grunting because you sound like your taking a dump....

  • Great role model!!!

    Thank you!

  • A joke--who died and lest him an expert?

  • Comments are now disabled. If you have fitness, bodybuilding or nutrition questions you can get them answered 24/7 at the AskScooby forum. There is a link on my website or just google "AskScooby Bodybuilding Forum"

  • haha i just got to 80 pound dumbell Press and i thought that was impressive.

90 pound flies is off the wall !!!!!

  • Scooby, please comment on this comment.

I'm a REAL bodybuilder (meaning I work my LEGS out) and I disagree you need to "confuse" your muscles.

What you really need to do is progressive overload, meaning always put in slightly more effort each workout, meaning more intensity, more reps, more weight, slower movement, WHATEVER. All you need is progressive overload, not "tricking" your muscles.

  • So your A real Bodybuilder just because you work your legs out, I'm on A Football team and we work out every day and we do Squats and all different kinds of Leg workouts but I'm not Huge Bodybuilder

  • shit dude nice tits

  • Why is it that in every YouTube clip of Arnold working out, he's doing the exercise seemingly as fast as he can?

I asked somebody else this question, and he said that the clip must be of a workout right before a competition ... to hit the "fast-twitch" muscles.

That may be true, but I've never seen a clip of him doing slow, concentrated reps of any exercise (like the ones you're doing, which is the way every trainer will tell you to do them).

    Thanks.

  • yo mad scooby I got a message to send to you about questions and stuff but its way to long to post in a comment

  • Hey powerisatank, try the AskScooby forum that is a much better place than here to ask detailed questions.

  • did he mean 90lbs all together, like 45 lbs in each arm?

  • no 90 in each hand

  • he said he has 90s in each hand but i counted 10- ten pound plates on each dumbell.

  • dude same..i thought he was like 35

  • Christ 90 lbs flies?

    One day, maybe for me.

    Amazing

  • 90's not that much...

  • At age 50, 90lb flys feel like a lot :)

  • lol yea i was j/k. 90's is a lot of weight for flies. i only do 55's lol.

  • I can probably do 35-40s with good form.

But then Scooby's chest is gianormous

  • lmao not that much!!! jonbar u have a huge problem or you jealous for not being that strong...

  • The whole time he was lifting he sounded like he was trying to take a monster crap! Lol but serously, your almost 50? I guessed 35 area.

  • holy shitballs 90 bound chest flies, awesome

  • he is upside down the whole vid

  • Can someone please hack his YouTube account and delete his video? PLEASE?

  • lol

  • that guys strong

  • I want to acheive a balance of muscular strength and endurance. Will doing meduim weight with meduim reps achieve this or should I 'mix it up'?

  • include a shitload of cardio. best thing is swimming for cardio, jogging is bad for your joints (in the long run as everything), biking is ok, but watch your prostate if you bike, causes impotence (long run again). if you're keeping a regular workout every day, or atleast 5-6 times a week. split it, and every time you do weight training, do cardio after.

  • You train 5 times a week 3 times boxing, 2 times gym, then 2 times at school. Im wondering why should i do cardio every time after weight lifting

  • WHEN you do cardio isnt really important. Like Scoob says; whats important is that you do it,

And with that said I'm gonna go for a run! :p

  • I run 10km per day in 40 minutes. I do resistance training 5 times per week for 2 hours each session however I always do 10 reps cos I feel its a nice moderate number. I need to know if high reps achieves enduance and low reps achieves strength then does moderate reps achieve both or something else entirely.

  • I have a great respect for a guy who is his age and in such fantastic shape. Those who have trashed talked here must not know the hours of time and dedication it takes to look that good. Way to go Scooby....you da Man!!!

  • this has to be the gayest guy i've ever taken time to watch on youtube

  • ha ha...u sound like a big old southern boy who is kicked in the ass, and so your gut came out and butt went in. git-r-done....

  • watch his stoumic go down during his sentences :o

  • Have you ever had your shit pushed in?? 2:00

  • lmfaoooooooooooooo

  • lol now i know why you laughed hahaha

  • does that nose come with a bag of gold?

  • nice killer traning

  • 100 lbs in each hand there! get 'er dun!

  • good workout

may be increase the number of sets....

    pretty stressful

  • your videos have really inspired me to get back in shape. thank you for making them!!

  • scooby ive been a fan of your videos for a while now and i have definatley noticed results from your advice and i just have one question that remains!!!

when will i get to see your penis!?!

  • I dont get that breathing technique... I would cut out if i let out too much air so many times...

  • i have a better and easier way to lift the extremelly heavy dumb bells from the ground...

  • geezh- he's 50?!?

  • how much steroids have u been injecting urself with?

  • i don't think he used any steroids look closer he hasn't got gigantic enormous muscles... anyway whoever flames his vids is either dumb or fat!!

  • if you think he has taken steroids, then you probably

    1. have never set your foot on a gym and are in a terrible shape

    2. have really crappy genetics.

Scooby for da win! 90's flies are crazy.

  • You're nearly FIFTY?!

  • 2:25 haha

  • hahaha maybe one more I DONT KNOW...

and 2:50 I keep my mussles CONFUSED haha

  • Comment removed

  • how is it not practical??? i thought changing exercises every week would also surprise the body.

  • w.e makes ur muscles sore is good even after afew days the muscles gets used to it so u could find new ways to make muscles sore again and with time that equals to muscle gaining ^,.,^

  • no technic

  • no spelling

  • Dude I think you better check your shorts after doing the 90's.

  • buttseks noises @ 1min 55

    lolz

  • I'm using my mom's account. I'm 16 and working out. My friend told me even if you write with your right side, your left is always stronger, is that true?

  • man ur so right

  • dude get a life!!

  • lol telling a guy to get a life yet you're on the internet telling someone to get a life? thats sad

  • And it's even sadder what you just wrote. Then, logically, I am even worse.

  • is it ok to do both heavy and light in the same session? im 21 and when i go to the gym and start my 5 sets on say a lat pull down il do the first set on a light weight like 40kg then move up 5kg every set i do, still aiming to do 10 reps but i only get 6 sometimes on my last set, is this ok?

  • es o rambo xD
