I served a yea, was never deployed. Got out due to a bum knee. Even though I wasn't deployed, transitioning back to civilian life was and still is challenging. Almost 3 years later, and I still feel like an outsider.
If you die in the millitary for the "noble" sake of fighting for your country, just ask yourself - Will your country EVER fight for you? The obvious answer is NO. If you sign the contract to go into the army, you are signing your own death on a piece of paper.
