I Own a 2005 WRX and i Love subaru...Im a member of the NASIOC forums but i still love Evos... i Didnt realize there were certain rules that you can only do stuff like paint your car blue with gold wheels to Subaru...Its called style man and everyone has a different style...You can do whatever you want to your car if its an Evo or a Subi...Why cant we all just get along?!

Im not an expert on cars or rally cars, but from what i have read up on that sound is something to do with the turbo and minimising the "lag", meaning that when the rally driver floors it, the turbo kicks in ASAP and doesnt take time to wind back up.

Someone will probably rant and rave about how little i know, but i did some research and thats the best i can come up with at the minute lol
