it's very hard to please fanboys of any genre. i very much feel that they could not have done a better job at recreating graphic novel to movie than what they did achieve with this. it's original, it's dark. it's not the same typical superhero movie plot. in my opinion it's definetly up there with The Road to Perdition and The Dark Knight when to comes to graphic novel movies.

I think it was a poor movie, but not because of the length of the dialogs. Some critics of this movie actually think, idiot.
The effects and cinematography were excellent, and the message would have worked IF it wasn't so strong. It paints a picture of the world that is plain wrong. Case and point, people don't just feed little girls to their dogs.
I think that the idea had potential until the themes (violence, nudity, message) were made too strong. Then, it lost almost all of it.
So if you were a pedophiliac killer with a small body you wouldn't think disposing of a girl by dogs would be useful? and you need to get a grip, this is the world that saw six million jews gassed and burnt and America napalming innocent civilians, but asides all that the world isn't violent and this film paints the wrong picture of human, incase you can't tell - sarcasm.

i know Xmen was pretty good. They didn't have jubilee in it tho and gambit didn't have his accent either. There were so many things that the movie had that were just put in there and not really thought about. I hope watchmen is so much better I haven't had the chance to watch it yet. And I hope the next Xmen is a bit more researched from the comics and possibly updated a LITTLE bit. :P

Because they want to create multiple films each about the origins of some x-men. Giving it a consistent name will make it sort of a mini-series, whatever, probably interesting from a commercial point of view.
Wolverine is just the first. Magneto will follow in a year or so. I hope they'll do Jean Grey too.

If they think a 10 second scene has too much cgi work and it may be cut out, they should stfu and be happy they get paid to do something as frivolous computer animation during a recession.
For all the tech-talk and idle chatter about CG and it's complexities, I'd say they failed miserably on Dr Manhattan. His facial movements looked like crap. Awkward and "keyframe:y" I should know because I in animation school. It looked like beginners work. As an example, they did a phenominal job on Gollum's facial movements - and that was almost a decade ago. They should've hired the guys at Weta Digital.
That's really not what I'm talking about. His facial movements look fake and "computer:y" Whether you're emotional or stoic, there are 100s of subtle muscle movements in your face what you talk. It's the dynamics of facial movement they failed at. Yes his devoid of emotion, but that doesn't mean he has to look like something out of a videogame.
But I guess they if intentionally went for the fake CG look, they succeeded. Just not sure if it was the right way to go about it.
Did you really think his facial expressions looked fake? I personally left the cinema believing that they built a CG body around a real human face and they just took out his pupils etc in editing... Seeing this behind the scenes thing actually surprised me, as I was sure his face was completely real.
I loved this movie too, but I can't praise everything about it. Credit where credit is due. Check out his awkwardly stretched mouth in the scene where he freaks out.
And LOL, I remember beowulf. At least Snyder had the balls to show CG dick where they copped out in Beowulf. With all the meadhorns and candleholders that passed over Beo's crotch, his dick ended up being the only thing on your mind, whereas Dr Manhattan's dick was quickly forgotten since it occurred so naturally in the scenes.

For all the tech-talk and idle chatter about CG and it's complexities, I'd say they failed miserably on Dr Manhattan. His facial movements looked like crap. Awkward and "keyframe:y" I should know because I in animation school. It looked like beginners work. As an example, they did a phenominal job on Gollum's facial movements - and that was almost a decade ago. They should've hired the guys at Weta Digital.

I'd have to disagree. Dr Manhattan is suppose to be devoid of alot of emotion. I think they did a brilliant job.

That's really not what I'm talking about. His facial movements look fake and "computer:y" Whether you're emotional or stoic, there are 100s of subtle muscle movements in your face what you talk. It's the dynamics of facial movement they failed at. Yes his devoid of emotion, but that doesn't mean he has to look like something out of a videogame.
But I guess they if intentionally went for the fake CG look, they succeeded. Just not sure if it was the right way to go about it.

Did you really think his facial expressions looked fake? I personally left the cinema believing that they built a CG body around a real human face and they just took out his pupils etc in editing... Seeing this behind the scenes thing actually surprised me, as I was sure his face was completely real.

I loved this movie too, but I can't praise everything about it. Credit where credit is due. Check out his awkwardly stretched mouth in the scene where he freaks out.
And LOL, I remember beowulf. At least Snyder had the balls to show CG dick where they copped out in Beowulf. With all the meadhorns and candleholders that passed over Beo's crotch, his dick ended up being the only thing on your mind, whereas Dr Manhattan's dick was quickly forgotten since it occurred so naturally in the scenes.

To those who are all surprised this is R rated (mostly young kids and people that haven't read the comic) you should read the graphic novel. It is amazing and you would then realize that to do this movie it HAS to be rated R. Also keep in mind this isn't an action flick, this will make you think.

I hope this movie finally, gets the comic book to live action movie right for a change. Every comic book turned movie has done a poor job of turning someones else's hard work into "crap". Lots of people think the last Batman movie finally got it right. WRONG! Batman is and always will be my favorite comic book character. Why? Reason is, he's one of few characters that can exist within the realm of possibilty. Read the Damn!
