I'm starting to realize now that the left has a "religious stance" in regards to the free-market that is almost as irrational as the right's religious stance on God and gay marriage. They presuppose their conclusions about class-warfare, the evils of success and free-market competition, and warp the data to try to fit it. Just like a religious person too, if they are intellectual enough you can actually get them to ADMIT that they are irrational, but magically their thoughts won't change.

98% of all health insurance claims are processed within 48 hours of the original date of exam/procedure. 100% of tax claims at the IRS take weeks. Do the math, if every person in America has some kind of governmental run health care, how much longer is it going to take to process those claims. I'm not saying the current system is perfect, but it sure the hell beats the waiting game the government will impose on the average citizen.

If you're going to "battle" people who are for the public option, you need to raise points like that. What could happen if swine flu becomes an epidemic in this country and we have the public option?

Here's the point you should make: If we get a public option that doesn't effect you or people who are "proud" of their insurance, then fine, BUT NOT RIGHT NOW.

We are broke as fuck, and these ideas are great for when times are a little greener.

The postage service analogy isn't exactly a good one. There aren't a ton of people just waiting for a cheaper option to come along so they can send their beanie babies off. People are waiting for the public option who need it, and the flood of people that will pounce on it after we get it passed is yet another point to think about when discussing this.
