Not entirely true. Many British people are tied to systems paying bills, council tax, rent. Even if on benefits, to come off these and enter low paid work is not economically feasible/profitable. As an immigrant, you rent a room and that's all, no inherent duties. A lot of British people are not lazy, they just can't afford to work for less.
