....actually, quite informative and entertaining video. Just in case you play trumpet or another brass instrument, I think you might find some trumpet and brass tutorials quite intriguing over at YOURBRASSINSTRUCTOR's Channel.
I love the fact that you teach students to play music rather than up and down scales a million notes a minute. I hear too much of that. It just doesn't show as much feeling with so many scales. Thanks for the videos! Best on youtube for sure!
Very well communicated my friend. I work for a large corporation and at age 55 just started teaching at work. The biggest challenge is making things attainable and achievable, which you did. I never thought of learning improv by starting with just 3 notes. Thank you, I will try it!
Stumbled over your new video on improvisation after checking on your breathing exercises (yet again). Absolutely terrific video (and instruction). I will spend ages over the next few weeks working on your tips - and look forwart to seeing volume 2 - the blues! Thanks Eric, regards Murray.
Why do you puff your cheeks up like that? My director, Dr. Nail, always says to never put the pressure on the top lip and only put some on the bottom lip, but it seems that you put a lot of pressure on the top (your head is angled down so much more than the trumpet). Is there reason for that? But by the way, the jazz sound GREAT!
haha, no he's not. He just comes with a lot of wisdom from Texas, there are all sorts of things he won't allow a player to do. For instance, he wants all vowel to be "OH" throughout the register, never changing to "AH" or "EE", I prefer a mix of "OH" and "OO" myself.

Yes .Concert F. did you download the music in your key?
ebjazz 1 year ago
are you playing in concert F??? F/Ab/Eb? plus Bb? It is somewhat harder to follow if you don't play trumpet or flugelhorn.

if you hold your trumpet to the side it is easier to see what notes you are playing.

What do you mean by the ninth. You played the first three degrees of the minor scale. Isn't the ninth the same thing as the two?
Franco128906 4 years ago
Yes it is. As a chord tone, it's always called the 9th.

Well if it sounds good, then I guess I'm OK, right?
Maybe we should let Dr. Nail check me out!!:)
Is Dr. Nail a high note specialist? If not, he should be!
