  • Sweetest Home ever <3

  • Love the idea to have litter outside that solves space and smell:) I was also wondering what the dimensions for your home were? I love the taller roof for sleeping loft.

  • beautiful house! great music for the video.

  • @apexironworks LOL. That's a first. Most people hate the music. Youtube's selection is pretty weak. We wanted to use anything by The Rite Of Strings but that isn't an option. Glad you like the house btw.

  • I love your tiny home especially the loft. I was curious where lulu's kitty door is

  • @mardiwillis Lulu's door sits just below the corner desk. Even when we sit at the computer there is more than enough room for her to get in and out. We even insulated it to keep it warm. All the cleaning and changing is done outside. Having the litter in the house was not an option. With this setup the house is odor free and there is no litter tracking. I'm glad you like the house. It a lot further along than in this video. We'll have a new one soon.

  • Yours is my favorite, so far. REAL sweet job.

I'm curious ... Did you chefs consider an Induction cooking surface?

...Was it much of a trick to add the dormer to the plans?

...Do you consider the overall construction strong enough for much highway travel ... cross-country?

I've been researching/planning for RV full-timing and came close to pulling the trigger on a couple ... used Monacos/Country Coaches ... UNTIL I stumbled over this new TinyHs idea. My head has been spinning ever since.

  • @ibgroovin2 Thanks, glad you like it. We opted for a propane stove for a few reasons. Mostly we wanted to design the house to be off grid if needed, that and Joe's cooked professionally for 25 years and hates anything but a gas/propane burner. The dormer was pretty easy to do. We just changed the pitch to give a lot more headroom in the loft and all the windows add to that open feeling. As far as road travel, everything is screwed, braced, glued and bolted down. It's a tank.

  • great design, only wish there was laundry then you'd be set!

  • Terrible music... ughh

  • This is the nicest tiny house I've seen yet. Love the extra storage & sleeping the extra loft affords. I'm glad it's working out for the two of you. How much did it cost you to build this?

  • Thanks for the tour! I love the secondary loft, but I'm not sure what purpose it was meant to serve, was it storage or meant as like... guest sleeping? The entire place seems really roomy despite its small size, really love the entire place!

  • @silverbishounen Storage. Definately not enough space up there for a sleeping loft, but it holds all of our stuff nicely.

  • Is there anyway this could at least accommodate an apartment sized fridge?

  • @MimiZ914 Sure! you'd just have to design around it... they make bigger rv fridges.

  • I am in love with your stove and I want it in my own tiny house, what is it, pray tell? p.s. thank you for the beautiful inspiration, I want to modify the fencl & the tiny living to be much closer to your own. Great design choices!

  • @rebeccalegia also, where the heck did you find that narrow sink? I love it!!!

  • @rebeccalegia We found the narrow sink by typing "tiny sink" into google. I think this was purchased from sears. ;)

  • @rebeccalegia The stove is a Magic Chef propane unit. They can be found at any r.v store. they are pretty common.

  • This is by far my favourite tumbleweed style home I've seen so far. It looks extensively well thought out and very loved. Which design did you base it off of? My boyfriend and I are going to be building a fencl but were still in the basic stages of the entire project. So far we've picked out what truck and trailer we want to get and im beyond excited.

  • @kadamane1 We're glad you like the design. Joe designed it from the ground up. He likes Jay's homes but feels they are a bit claustrophobic, especially the lofts. Designing your own is pretty easy. We still recommend Jays book as its full of insight and useful tips.

  • I am in awe of this! I would love something like this and live all over the Country, so cute and cozy.

  • @brooklynlulu Thanks! That's the beauty of it!

  • You guys still living there? when I get older I am going to have a small house cause I like small stuff :3

  • @ItsGabeTime We have been living in it for about six months now and love it. It's the best decision we have ever made.

  • You could have done with out the porch. That is space you could use inside.

  • @chucholetsm8one Could have, but did not want to. The porch is an extension of our living space. We enjoy being outside.

  • your house is awesome! I plan to start mine this spring...wish I started it last spring lol

  • Sexy place, I'm making a few! Yours is one of the better ones!

  • Is your budget of $24, including the entire trailer..??

  • Fantastic! Great use of space.

  • How much did you spent?

  • @Julioinoa With materials and labor around $30,0000, for just the materials around $24,000.

  • Wow! this is cool. I'm planning on building a Tumbleweed Fencl starting the summer of 2012. Is this a modified Fencl? I have so many questions! I'd love to see how you mounted the Dickinson chimney cap on the wall of the house. I've been thinking about modifying my Fencl plans to put a flatter roof over the loft so there's more room up there. It looks like you did this. I'd love to chat more!

  • @jimmeatweezer The cap was pretty easy to install, in fact the hardest part was running the gas lines safely. This I left up to a professional. The house is not a modified Fencl, Joe designed it from the ground up. We love Jay's homes but Joe said they were a little too claustrophobic for his liking, the loft especially . We were also concerned with being trapped in the loft if a fire broke out, hence the body length windows.

  • Awesome video that for sharing, how would I go about designing one for myself. I am new to these ideas. There are a few things I like in here, is the shelving, and the loft is beautiful.

  • @EclipseWorlds It's pretty easy. Just remember to stay within legal limits and try to use every bit of space you can, Joe sketched it all out on graph paper and went and talked to some contractors. There are a lot of free plans online you can get ideas from too. Getting Jay Shafers book is a great place to start. It's full of useful information about building your own tiny house. Good luck!

  • @megathome Thank you for your help, I will take a look at his book, thanks again!

  • So if you and your husband get into an argument is he sent to sleep in the opposite loft? :-) It's a very nice home.

  • Oh my, I love your sleeping loft!! I've been dreaming of a tiny home of my own. My dream tiny home would jettison the porch and blow out the roof to match the profile of your sleeping loft, allowing a loft at each end. I'd have the bath on one end and the kitchen at the other end, with living space in-between. I hope you and Joe are happy in the new home!! Everyone involved did a fabulous job!! Rock Star Awesome!!

  • @ericafors We played with that very idea of having the second loft with a dormer like the sleeping loft. When we sketched it out and it just looked bad, on top of that it would distribute the weight unevenly (this is a concern if you plan to move it). The second loft was just for storage so we added a dropped roof to make it look natural. The porch was needed. A place to keep the litter box, more storage, a place to sit, and a place to keep rain off of your head while fumbling for your keys.

  • @megathome @ericafors Not to mention, a sense of transition. Its one of those things they taught me in my arch classes, its so important to have a sense of entrance especially when you are going from out to in, and from outside to a small place like this! beautifully done.

  • @BlueStrikeP the porch I mean :P

  • Hi Megs I am so glad you and Joe's dream came true.... I know you two worked so hard to make it happen... Good thing its on wheels so you can ship it over to Hawaii and live here for a while....Love ya Chica..... xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  • @Moonshine5689 Thanks guys. We miss you. Glad to see you're married. So now you can see what all the headaches are about :) (Joe)

  • Love it guys, Great work. hope you enjoy is for all its worth!

  • Like so much! What a blessing! Haha ey I'm only 14 and I have only DREAMED of this since I was a little girl! (usually coming from the little tea house princess thing, but not as much being a Tom boy lol) I'm gonna et this done haha! I'll need help yall so look out! Btw I want it run off solar energy and propane lol and question!: if a tire pops... How in the world do you change it? And how does ur cat get around lol! I'll need help! Can't wait! :D

  • My favorite is the bedroom it looks so comfy and cozy!!!:)

  • Looks cozy and comfy. May God Bless!

  • i like it , its me n my wife now kids are grown n gone. do u have blue prints for it? gona try to talk to my wife abuot liven n 1. tired off paying high rent .

  • What's the height of your tiny house cause anything over 13' 6" isn't street legal and got to watch for low over passes

  • @OzniWellman We were aware of the street legal requirements prior to building so the house is 13' 4" to the very top of the skylights.

  • are these tiny houses cheaper than travel trailers? they seem heavier which would consume more fuel to tow. what's the benefit?

  • @MrGimpower They are generally cheaper than travel trailers and yes, they are heavier. But the quality between a tiny house and a travel trailer is like night and day... travel trailers are not meant to be lived in for an extended period of time especially through winter months in the northern states. Moisture, insulation, and repairablility are the main dividing points between a tiny house and a camper. A camper has the benefit of lightness but tiny houses are better suited for year round livin

  • @megathome thats what i figured thanks

  • Does it run hot water??

  • @marilyn614 Yes, we have a 6 gallon RV propane water heater, works great!

  • @megathome Wonderful! I always wanted to have something like this!!

  • If it was a full time home, I'd ixnay the porch. It's cute, but coulda had a bit more elbow room for the living area.

  • @rubbersole79 We feel that the porch is living area too, room for outdoor cat box and storage over the porch. Works well for us as a full time house. :)

  • no tv?

  • @COWEATSDOG well we have computers... not really tv people.

  • @megathome I can relate to that. With netflix(flixster), hulu, and other television websites, cable is now a luxury, not a necessity.

  • You seem to have a spider crack in your windshield, Sir.

  • @EviLzLiKeNeO We live in Montana... everyone has a crack in their windshield.

  • love this what is the square footage in this one

  • @twistedrose333 With the loft it's just under 200sq feet

  • I was sick when this video went up and I feel cheated I didn't see it day 1. Your home is just perfect. It just keeps getting betterand better. Hey Joe remember I suggested selling the plans as they make you rich. ;-) Also that I asked for them first, LOL. Please let me know how much your asking and when I could get them. The only thing I would even change is a pocket door on the bathroom. It's been a week Sherri's the next video already. :-)

  • @trikkemike Thanks! Joe is thinking of selling the plans soon... we'll post up info when they are ready, you'll be the first to know :) we thought about a pocket door but were worried about moisture as well as taking space away from the kitchen. The curtain works well for us right now :)

  • i love the little sink in the bathroom. Never saw that before in any other small house video. Love the open feeling of the loft also. Wonderful job!

  • @cyber573 Thank you, we found the little sink online, it's perfect for the bathroom. Thanks again!

  • I'm dreaming of a tiny house, and I LOVE this one! It's so perfect. You guys have done an incredible job.

  • @BiscuitNGravyTales Thank You! It's truly very comfortable and we are very happy with it. Thanks again!

  • Awesome tiny house! Thanks for sharing. Glad that moving it was a good experience. You did an incredible job with the porch. Great size. Really liked your house! Have a great day.

  • @TinyHouseTalk Thanks for watching and commenting, it's turned out to be just what we wanted. Perfect size for two, :)

  • This update is AMAZING!!!! This is in my top 3 favorite tiny houses!!! The work and craftmanship is great.I love your cabinets, and new additions...Did you have to strap anything really solid down as the house traveled? I have been waiting for this vid! Do you have a blog or providing the plans somewhere? Thanks so much!

  • @BohemiansunsetsThanks Glad you like it. My husband was curious what your other top tiny houses are? He says thank you for the compliments on his design. We didn't strap anything down, we actually packed it all and left a few items on the house to see if they would slide around...but they didn't. So we are thinking that we won't have to pack again when we move it. Joe is thinking of selling the plans, not sure when.

  • @megathome I return to yours and these other two very frequently, Tim Guiles house, and the Protohaus which is similar to yours and another I like is similar to Tim Guiles (it's in Hawaii). I return to yours and his often. Love your music, your new additions and Lulu. Thank you for your responses. Are there other things you plan to add to your house in the meantime?

  • @Bohemiansunsets No, we don't plan to add much more to it... it needed a touch of winterizing (heated hose for winter, skirting, insulation of the shed on the back so the water filter won't freeze) but that's about it.

  • @megathome oh, and of course I love the loft!!!! That is my ultimate favorite! The windows, the porch and cabinets and staining are all very beautiful additions to your home too. Does Lulu climb the stairs up to the loft or she taken up there? So cute that she is sharing the space quite comfortably with the both of you.

  • @Bohemiansunsets Hi! yes, lulu climbs the ladder really well! she goes up and down, it's awesome!

  • We do have a blog, there is a link on the video... Please visit!
