I've done this...aq40...naxx...Sunwell..­BT...new naxx(lol)...icecrown etc. This encounter is comparable in BC only to BT+ fights and in Wrath to nothing. A guild who could down this boss then had to work much harder than a guild that does ANYTHING now. I'd say its like Council level of difficulty. then Kalegos=Twin Emps

@Rivendar maybe try raiding with proper level? =nefarian @60 and KJ @70 I can tell you it's nothing like 10lvls up... Vanilla raiding was mostly harder cause there were more ppl cooperating, 25<40. +the dps was % so much lower in vanilla than what it was in tbc. Wotlk raiding is just a joke tbh

@Rivendar .... 60-70 every class got so many more spells than compared 70-80 where they got significantly less spells. and only reason 40 mans were "Hard" was cause lack of spells and random glitches, I have played vanilla blah blah been through it all and wotlk is deffs harder. With the release of LK 25 HM hardest fight ever released by far. With many top guilds struggling to get him down even with 25% buff. With only 1 guild doing LK without the buff was paragon.

Protip: Most guilds that downed Nefarian spent at least a full week wiping to learn Phase 1 because if you could make it to Phase 2 with at least 30-35 still alive, then you would down him.

Shows just how much they've fleshed out DPS since Vanilla, they're just no rotation in that Mage's job. It's just frostbolt spam endlessly. Looking at her hotbar she's Arcane as well, obviously for Evocation which used to be a talent...... Damn talent trees sucked back then. Cling to your 60 raid guilds all you like, you'll never recapture the Vanilla experience because your class has been improved too much. The same Mage could have Icy veins and a Water elemental now

@Rivendar Yeah, because the stat changes between 70-80 is greater when compared to 60-70.

I'm not saying Nefarian was easier to kill at level 60 than killing Kil'Jaeden at level 70.

I've noticed quite a few of these old world raids are from the PoV of a mage, usually frost specced. Presumably, it was a viable raiding spec pre-bc?

A lot of that was b/c back in the day, the first two 40 mans (MC and BWL) had a ton of bosses with high fire resist. So fire mages weren't really viable before instances like AQ and Naxx

I have to give you your props. What an awesome tank to keep the aggro like that. He dind't move from where he was faced hardly at all. I was just with a group and we wiped so many times. But they didn't pull him away from where the throne was.

not just the one boss in AQ. MC was completely fire mage unfriendly. BWL was also much better for frost mages. Especially the Nefarian fight so that when the mage class call came, all mages would iceblock to prevent sheeping the tank or healers.

classic bosses werent hard. they were new. but nowadays all the bosses are almost the same as classic so people know how to do them easily. but some abilities were crappy in classic wow.

Classic Bosses were so hard because our characters had crappy abilities back then.

Also gear was nerfed, few items gave spellpower, now every green item gives spellpower. We were also noobs back then.

But i know how fun ZG, MC, and BWL were, especially Razorgore, but I did Blizz still made a good job with the new instances. We only need to wait for some more gothic content soon.

I was the main tank 1 when we killed nefarian.

That was so intense, its only a video game but it was a great adventure.

Now i just make raid because i know everybody in the guild since 2005 and most of them are rl friend.

The difficulty level of naxxramas was beyond insane. I guess only few guild in the world killed kel thuzad. That was so hard, ulduar hard mode is a joke compared to naxxramas 40 men.

I so agree with you... Nefarian tanks were the respected tanks and this fight was really awesome. I was so honored to be given the task to tank Nefarian, and prove myself worthy. Me and my tank buddy (we were both undead) will never forget this fight, as it is one of the best ones, ever! I can't describe how my fingers were shaking when the encounter began and we downed him for the first time. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way!

Indeed, old WoW was all about quests people have never done before, experiencing hard bosses peoble haven't downed before, and ofcourse friendship and cooperation in the guild.

Now it's more about migrating, ninja looting, leaving parties in the middle of the run, changing nicks... Sad. :)

Nefarian is probably the hardest boss ever made by blizz. Uludar is shit easy comparing with Nefarian.

It took us about 200 hours to down him.

It was the best and th hardest encounter i ever made

I remember our first Nef Kill our MT died within the first minute and our DPS war without any Tank gear on tanked the rest of the fight. We had to trade him a Titans will he was tanking too, it was hilarious.
