  • 0:42 the girl looks like a wombat! LOL

  • @shapman87

I love this show becasue teh dark psyche with dexter is true to all of us, and i have a pretty bad past with abuse and other things, and I've felt like what he talks about, his feelings, the ones we cant share, ARE there, in all of us. Certainly not murderous thoughts, but being so dark and different that u can't share that with anyone, I just respect it so much. I love this show for its willingness to probe the human psyche.

  • I just made a song inspired by this speech that turned into a massive project, check it out on my page!

  • what is this episode?

  • speech kinda reminds me of the third book not a spoiler

  • yer lyla was still the hottest chick on Dexter. no arguments

  • im preforming this in drama

  • @tonguebleed : need a hand?

  • It's funny to read comments and see all weak people who lack of attentions say they re killers or psychopats. They must think beeing a killer is cool or something but the reality is killers only attack people who are more weak than them and this make them cowards.

Even Jack the Reaper stalked whores and women walking alone at night.

Dexter is different but he s NOT real

  • @YourDeath311 Jack the RIPPER :3

  • @YourDeath311 As a retired SOF, you don't know what you are talking about. Killers kill no matter what their prey. And it was Jack the Ripper, not Reaper.

  • @TheBigSaxon No it's not Ripper, it 's Raped for you. Dumbass

My uncle works as a detective in Police and talked to me about this. They stalk weak people and do not act like heroes.

You do really think killers are like in horror movies don't you.

  • @Hostel66666 LOL... your stupidity is astounding. Grow up child.

  • @Hostel66666 exactly. Btw BigSaxon is a weak kid who is looking for attention so leave him in his ignorance and stupidity

  • @YourDeath311 Wow, none of you people know how to read. My original response was a JOKE to all the killers posting. Wow, some of you are really anal rententive.

  • @YourDeath311 Thats What you think...... "puts needle in your neck"

  • @ChaosRiku LOL amazing reply

  • @tonguebleed OPEN YOU'RE EYES AND SEE WHAT YOU DISLIKED!!!! open your eyes or I'll cut off your eyelids.

  • @2pac4lifee3... it was a joke. I felt like I was being left out from all the assasins on here posting ;)

  • As a sociopath, I never realised what I was experiencing until this speech. Watching Dexter has been much more effective counseling than my shrink has ever been.

  • @TheBigSaxon ok buddy i study sociopaths and believe me thhey dont tell people

  • i think im like a third of this videos views

  • I can definitely relate to this, after three years of being an assassin, you slowly feel getting attached to some people.. Time to move to a different place, I guess..

  • @TheMerciless13 You're not an assassin

  • @explodingpimp You are correct. We call it 'inherent right to self defense'.

  • @TheMerciless13 Assassin? I doubt it.

  • @tonguebleed :D :D i help u with that

  • Michael C. Hall is such a fantastic actor. This scene is so powerful it gives me chills!!

  • dexter season 6 so close! i cant wait

  • @tonguebleed that would be stupid and dexter would kill you

  • Everytime I hear this it gives me chills. I understand what he's saying so much. I understand Dexter in every possible way. Almost like I'm him in the mind. Which is why I love the show so much.

  • Michael C. Hall is one of the most amazing actors I have ever witnessed

  • @zergpire or is that just a lie the dark passenger tells you? Haha jk

  • i don't think i've got a dark passenger to be honest...nothing i can think of.

  • Lol Illuminati written all over this. Sleeper agent shit, etc

  • As a guy who's never seen Dexter, all I can say is: daaamn.

  • @CreepyQuietKid Man have you missed out. I have links to every episode of five seasons. Send me a message if you want them. They are 100 percent legit, no virus bullshit. MP4 format playable on quicktime. Its worth every second of downloading. Dexter is the absolute best show that has ever been created. Period. Michael C Hall, as you can see in this clip, is so far beyond flawless as Dexter Morgan. Do it. Tick Tick Tick.,

  • I know people can see this as wrong, but I'm so connected to Dexter as a character. His unwavering self-hatred and the dark creature that lives under his skin. It's something I can completely relate to.

  • audition monologue? yes.

  • "nothing else can love me... especially not me"

I love how he doesn't say "no one else" as in just people, instead he says nothing as in anything at all

  • What is the song, the clip starts with ?

  • @carllarsson123 It's on the dexter soundtrack and i think the name is "home"

  • I used this speech in my DnB trek)) sounds epic!)

  • everyone has their own dark passenger

  • such an amazing actor

  • Comment removed

  • I wished dexter would exist in RL, because then I wouldn't feel lonely:(

  • this is great..

  • I AM IN CONTROL

  • @hollajandro second :)

  • VeilofMaya

  • To be perfectly honest i just picked up the first season on a whim and i've never looked bak ever since its singularly one of the best shows i've ever seen

  • man in the end looks like marlon wayans in requiem

  • @torontosmoker have you read the others

  • @torontosmoker will do

  • He's a fantastic actor.

  • Liala ur the bitch

  • He found someone that can love him now :))))

  • What is the song that starts at 1:17?

  • @GamingForTheGamers I believe its called Deborah loves Rudy - The house. Its composed by Daniel Licht and Its on the Dexter season 1 soundtrack (track 14)

  • @skat1970 thanks =)

  • i can't get over how much i love this scene. Michael C. Hall is definitely one of the greatest actors out there. He plays this role so well.

  • Back when Lila wasn't disgusting bitch.

  • This is beautiful. It shows the darker side of Dexter an how Lila understands it without even knowing that it exists. This speech is a true work of art. Beautiful. It literally brought tears to my eyes. It is so fantastic an emotional it is almost impossible not to be moved by it.

  • A deeply moving scene Michael, truly an amazing actor. He is so much apart of his character here that there is no character... he is living the moment. My favorite scene in the series.

  • You're cool as fuck"

  • @torontosmoker Oh okay lol I never really thought of it that way...Actually I don't think that at all lol. But its an interesting...thought. I've always loved Michael c. Hall, and I've always wanted to sing with him :)

  • @torontosmoker Well, can't answer that one. Maybe you should ask him, I think he's still with Madonna. But I am not sure. Which jesus do you mean? lol

  • such a beautiful way to let the audiance inside Dexter's mind; into his confusion. It allows us to take his feelings and begin to sort through it at the same time he does.

  • Sergeant Doakes: FUCK YOU!

Dexter Morgan: Okay. Uh, is there something I can…

Sergeant Doakes: Yeah, you can get me your fucking analysis on the blood spatter on these killings! You think I’m here to invite you to my nephew’s briss?

Dexter Morgan: [sarcastic] I didn’t know you were Jewish!

Sergeant Doakes: Shut the fuck up and write your report already!

xD one of my other favorite quotes besides the dark passenger

  • Man I loved this part of that episode. And michael cera is s good actor. Dexter is one of my favorite shows

  • @Godsend521 Michael *Carlyle

  • LOL coorrrny

  • i hope we more about the passanger in season 5. After all, the dark passenger is an demonic offspring of evil biblical entity called moloch, according to the teaching of an evil cult in miami.

  • which episode is this?

  • @sirkllrs "an inconvenient lie"

  • Comment removed

  • Corny as it sounds, this choked me up the first time I saw it. And it still does.

  • just beautiful.

  • The only part of this video that I disliked was Lila's presence =-z Everything else was superb =-)

  • @joli188 I don't know joli. There is a coolness to Lila's character. Rita's character is representative or that which is human in Dexter. It's almost as if each side of him is courting a female counterpart. To illustrate you could almost imagine Dexter's mind like a Yin-Yang with Rita as the Light and Lila as the dark.

  • finally someone with the balls to do what I dont have the balls to do, haha!

  • How Jon Hamm won anything against this man is completely beyond me. I mean, the famous "Kodak Carousel" scene from Mad Men is so highly lauded. But it doesn't hold a candle to this scene. This is heartbreaking genius. Hall could run rings around Hamm.....blindfolded and strapped to a chair.

  • dexter might be a little more focussed in the next season without his wife - on his job - every episode watch DExter for Free -dot -com

  • I really want to do this as a monologue for my acting class but Michael Hall is such a good actor it's a bit intimidating. Haha,

  • Layla was a fucking bitch, but she really did care about Dex, she messed up at the end...TOO BAD 4 HER!!!

  • i know how dexter feels, after my first kill i felt alive too

  • riiiight

  • @RichCwm

what in mw2 haha your comment made my day

  • Fuck, I cried. ;;

  • Lila is so hot

  • Not a killer. But I can certainly identify with what he is saying. All of us have our dark sides, addictions, fetishes, and compulsive behaviors that we hide from the world around us. Dexter is simply a twisted representation of that. This monologue in Dexter's case is about his thirst for blood, personified in the form of a "The Dark Passenger". But psychologically it is a tribute to all of us who struggle with our own duality. Brilliant show.

  • i can only relate to 0:49 - end

  • @mirrorimage345 Brilliantly said!

  • @mirrorimage345 I think thats why the show is so successful, everyone, whether a student, mother, father, librarian, everyone has those sides of themselves. Even if we don't kill, and even if our mother didn't die in a fatal attack in front of us, and even if our brother isn't a killer (this list could go on haha), we all have our dark passanger inside of us.

  • @mirrorimage345 Yeah or the writers just thought it was fitting, but nice insight dawg.

  • @mirrorimage345 I think those might be the best words I've read all over the internet, and I've been around for ~10 years. I feel... connected. Thanks.

  • @mirrorimage345

    Agreed.

    I'm secretly an fire-obsessed arsonist.

  • i can't identify with what he's saying. i was just watching the show.

  • From what episode is that speech ? just awesome...

  • Season 2 Episode 3 "An Inconvenient Lie"

  • This scene can be seen in so many lights, not only does it reflect on Dexter's addiction but any ones. This helps you see clearly for the things that matter.

  • If they only knew exactly what the dark passenger meant. great scene.

  • @Crazyman1212

How could they possibly? They never even knew Harry!

  • no shit, i was refering to the possibility of "what if" the crowd that he was giving the speech too actually knew what dexter really meant when he talked about his "Dark Passenger"

  • I was being glib

  • love that scene :D and its cool that the writters write is so good, like the bookes because this season isnt based on the books, but it it still gooooood

  • and this is why he is one of THE best actors on television

  • definitely!

  • i hope next season will learn more about dexter's dark passenger. in the book, the dark passenger is a demonic offspring of a evil biblical deity called moloch, according to the mythology of a cult miami pd was investigating.

  • I don't think many people enjoyed having Dexter's dark passenger explained the way it was in the books. Besides Dexter in the show has evolved far beyond the book Dexter.

  • I have to disagree. I thought it was quite interesting that Dexter's 'Dark Passenger" was explained in a way that many people can actually relate to. Even if they don't know the severity of Dexter's Dark Passenger. We all have our demons.

  • Well that's certainly true about the video but I was discussing the books. Dexter's dark passenger is explained to be an ancienct biblical demon, and frankly I don't think anyone can relate to that.

  • i gotta do a monologue 4 theater i wanna do this 1 but i dont wanna ruin it lol

  • Hauntingly beautiful. This scene gives me chills. It struck several chords in me.

  • this is season 2. by far the best season so far!!

  • Season 4 is blowing me away. John Lithgow deserves an Oscar or an Emmy or whatever for his performance.

Season 4 is the one that compels me to tell people "You gotta watch this show!!!!"

  • Awesome series. Great acting by Michael.

  • I think to me, this scene is about how Dexter is evolving, the more and more he digs deeper into life, the more he puts himself out there and takes more risks. Dexter isn't necessarily becoming human, but he's trying to relate himself to one, and showing us that even people in a state of mind such as him, can feel different needs and wants, as if they were emotions.

  • But the greatest of this season shows, that even the most perfect of families have cracks in them. Dexter - and the audience - is learning that he is nearly as far from being "normal" as he thinks.

In essence, he just convinced himself he was a freak, a monster, when really he is just as normal as everyone else.

  • "This confession has meant nothing."

  • o felt this way my hole life untill i met my wife

  • And he's never won an Emmy! Hard to believe...

  • I believe this is by far the most touching scene in the serie.

  • THE best show on TV, bar none. I've never been pulled into a show as quickly and intensely as I have with Dexter...if I don't see new episodes soon, my own dark passenger might just unleash....and that would be a very bad day.

  • soooo brilliant.

  • Do you think the "someone" he feels connected to is Rita?

  • definitely. especially since this scene occurs right after he "defends" rita when stabbing roger hicks.

  • definitely agree with that

    speech is incredible

  • How I love his speech !

This gives me such goosebumps. The way Michael C Hall acts this is magic.

    ..the mask is slipping ...

  • Jeff Lindsey Created an amazing Character in Dexter.

  • One of the best characters ever

  • Comment removed

  • here is the speech.. (for bad english guys)

-I'm Dexter, and I'm...not sure what I am.

I just know there's something dark in me. I hide it. I certainly don't talk about it. But it's there. Always.

    This dark passenger.

And when he's driving, I feel...alive. Half sick with the thrill, complete wrongness. I don't fight him. I don't want to. He's all I've got. Nothing else could love me, not even, especially not me.

  • Or is that just the lie the dark passenger tells me? Because lately, there are these moments when I feel...connected to something else, someone.

And it's like the mask is slipping...

    and things...

    people...

who never mattered before, are suddenly starting to matter.

It scares the hell out of me.

  • sociopath eh? sounds more like a cop out. Psychology has alot of grey areas and if u read the signs and symptoms of a sociopath it fits the description of alot of selfish people who i know that are freeloading moochers that only think of themselves. So don't go quoting your psychology mumbo jumbo to me. Same doctors that label you sociopath are the same doctors that pump kids full of ritalin. i think prettyloather can answer his own questions thanx ;)

  • I'm a girl, and DeathlyDeceit gave a pretty good answer. I am not a serial killer, but I do have that darkness in me. I also have a degree in psychology, so I'd have to say that the 'psychology mumbo jumbo' you refer to actually does give me a lot of cool insite into this show. I'd like to encourage you to look into psychopathy/anti-social personality disarder (the current terms for sociopathy), and you'll see what I mean when you watch the show again. It entertains on a whole new level.

  • One of the neat psychological things I find with this show is how it borrows from the low-trait anxiety theory of psychopathy. We can see Dexter seeking stimulation to make himself feel alive as he said in one epidsode.

  • We also see the idea that all psychological traits exist on a continuum being played with in this show, since Dexter seems to be trying to discover exactly where he stands on this continuum. He is realizing that there are no pure good and no pure evil people. He isn't necessarily a 'monster'. Freak I love this show.

  • I'd really like to know what makes Deathly a sociopath. cuz my point was that the textbook behaviour of a sociopath, in my eyes is a crutch. People who are manupulative, liars,Callous, and all the other lovely things that sociopaths apperently do are learned behavoiurs, and are completly controllable. So when someone exibits these behaviours and says they can't help it cuz of their condition I call bullshit.

  • I think you are confusing a few issues in psychology here as well.

  • wicked shit...I totally love this show b/c I can relate to Dexter :P

  • Why? Are you a serial killer?
