  • It shouldn't be so harmonious. It's a fucking Middle European dance! It's supposed to have some zest to it. Downright brutality. Not just in the end, but all round. :/

  • @cmp0ff lol wtf

  • So beautiful and moving. They play with the heart!

  • very exciting and beautiful !!!

  • Is this solo violin + orchestra arrangement of this song in print? Where can I find it?

  • It is nice to get a little twist in style, good work!!!

  • Sanicolaul Mare does it sound hungarian?:))I don't think so.Bela Bartok was a hungarian born in Romania.Let us not argue on this.Beautyful music anyway:)

  • that cough at 3:03 punctures the atmosphere badly

  • It's nou that good you know... He makes quite a lot mistakes (so does the orchestra btw) but no doubt that Bartok is a genius!

  • 0:18 on left... DANNY DEVITO?! IS THAT YOU?!

    lol

  • This is so beautiful

  • what's the name of the song?

  • They had like a whole orchestra there and barely used them :(

  • He plucks funny

  • Just enjoy it! How cares, which nation??? Music is for everybody.

Ebbe a csodálatos zenébe mindig beleborzongok. Nem lehet megunni.

  • SUPERB !!! Especially from 1:52 ....

    Viva Rumania, Viva Hungary !

  • im sorry but the fifth moment sucked im playing it in orchestra and its not spicatatto an hes hitting all different strings. But it good overall.

  • hungaria idiot

  • @matewboss010 but it is"Romanian dances"inspired by the romanian folk music!Bella Bartok WAS RISEDAMONG ROMANIANS ,WITH ROMANIAN MUSIC INFLUENCE

  • @lagasa91 you are not romanian, but a romanian nationalist... it is so sad. It's not Bella, but Béla and he was Hungarian, collecting among Hungarian, also Romanian, Serbian and other nationalities folklore. I never knew that Bartok was romanian influenced - it is so funny, when a stupid, low schooled nationalist do efforts to demonstrate that everything is rooted in his / her nation. hahahaha

  • hi guys,

    i'm Australian. anglo-saxon.

what is needed to stir ppl's hearts in music:

#1. great composition and research into it.

#2. virtuoso performance by ppl who actually care about what they perform.

Bartok Bela and Gyula Feher are at the very top of that list.

prayers to them and all who listen to this most beautifully executed work.

    j.

  • Nice to see signs of a better world! Gypsies singing in synagogue a song inspired by Rumanian folk and composed by an Hungarian!

  • @HoratiuSimon26 Low class thieves and high class thieves getting along is merely the sign of a worse world.

Jews mutilate their children in synagogues.

  • @DivusJuIius Go and die !!That's an order .

  • @davazno1 How loving of you. (:

  • @DivusJuIius This Is Beautifull! Disregard ignorance and racism!

  • @Venezolanolibre1 Being tolerant of theft and mutilation is the very definition of ignorant!

  • Nice to see signs of a better world! Gypsies singing in synagogue a song inspired by Rumanian folk and composed by an Hungarian!

  • Bravo! Minunata prelucrare a folcorului romanesc.

  • That one guy is taking all the solos! lol j/k. this is a great video! i love this song

  • Regarding the synagogue: whether one is invited into the synagogue, one is always advised to wear a headcover as the sign of respect for the place of worship. This includes tourists as well. Regarding the music: Bartok collected and arranged many-many folksongs, most of which are Hungarian, some not, but they are equally beautiful.

  • It is NOT out of tune. Music can vary a lot when it is played on different instruments. It is magic.

  • People ,to be clear, mr. Bartok didn't compose this song ,he just pick it up from thousands of ancient traditional folklore roumanian songs. You can still find the original tune in the Cluj county in Roumania! The true composer of this song is the soul of roumanians!

  • wow, surprising and amazing,

  • They play this beautifully. I love their outfits too.

  • This piece isn't played like classical musicians so this is great Bartok would have loved this.

  • I do not get it. So they might be gipsies playing in a jewish settlement. I suppose they did not desacrated the place, as they did not desacrated any of the places in the world they live. They are a very good orchestra, playing Bartok in the way he should be played, obviously they belong to this unfortunate part of Europe. I've heard Bartok being played like a musical box, this is fantastic Bartok orchestration. Cheers to MsArany. Bravo!

  • Bravo ! Nagyszeru .

  • Thank you! It was just beautiful!!

  • A lot of this is out of tune.

  • Maybe, but in case of folk music it can be tolerated.

  • bravooo :D im albanian romanian peple and albanian are similar

  • All of the right notes Bravo! No interpretation of the true gypsy style with rubato and feeling! Very correct . but missing soul and true musicianship

  • you are crazy, this is a masterpiece

  • @musicproducers Hello ! I am a Romanian tambal

cimbalom player and know this piece very well. This performance is very correct and well done... it is not meant to be gypsy allaballa but a classical arrangement of Romanian peasant (not gypsy) music. I'm sure that this excellent collective is up to playing traditional repertoir appropriately. With respect, Alexandru

  • Beautiful composition and performance.

  • this is a pretty interesting song(:

\very well played but i have to say my favorite part

    were the artificial harmonics

    :)

  • This is typical for this part of the world: a lot of nationalities combined. In the end, if all work together and in good faith, something beautiful emerges.

For comparison, check the music of Ioan Bocsa. Very similar sound, less "processed", closer to origins.

  • Why does nationality matter ? Bela's music is for everyone , music has no nationality .

  • @davazno1 Haha, THIS is exactly the music which has nationality!! Haha!

  • hungarian composer born romanian.....

  • Béla Bartók was born in Hungary! This settlement belonged to Hungary once in Nagyszentmiklós! his current name Sinnicolau Mare

  • @podiumocska he was born on Romanain land, but Hungarian rule, don`t missjudge people reading this.. This are nice song, too bad they don`t sound very Romanian.

  • @blanoz OF COURSE IT SOUNDS ROMANIAN,i am romanian and I can recognise our folk music in it!

  • Comment removed

  • @Frutexpain Good music is made by men for men! Here you hear a song made with love for men. Is a romanian song and reflect our way of being ! Speaking of Dacians i can give you a lot of examples against your assertion. "Fiction"? LOL! For all who read this, dont belive his assertions, please see this video on YouTube called :"Transylvania is NOT hungarian land!". Here you all find facts not so called "truth" made by "real hungarian historians". Bela is a hungarian who know our soul, you can?

  • @Hungaroctonul

then have a look on what historians have to say about Romania,Dacians, and Riomans. But not romanian historians please!

  • @MissMYNONA Not Romanian historians??? How you think will be corect to show something about someone without let him to trie to defend him self!?! You speak about something what is not right. Romanian historians know the best the story of our land! Is important to know all to find facts according with real history. Let me tell you ... if you look in my video you see no Romanian only facts from other sources even hungarian (!) sources! So LIKE I SAID LOOK MY VIDEO ABOUT TRANSYLVANIA! Respect!

  • @Hungaroctonul" Romanian historians know the best the story of our land"...oh really?that's why they are very accepted abroad*haha

  • @MissMYNONA It seems you make an assertion without cover MYNONA. Show me you have right. For your knowledge we Romanians learn in our schools much history than a real historian from Western Europe if you accept a joke :)).

  • @Hungaroctonul ,good joke,yes you learn a lot,but what?It's still propaganda let's face it.

I went in school in Romania,so i know about what i'm speaking.

  • @MissMYNONA Aha....esti o sarmana frustrata...Ce ai patit? Ti-a dat cu FLIT vre-un romanas? De asta nu ne suporti?

  • @Hungaroctonul ,

    LOL,i'm not you...

  • @podiumocska belong once when u ( a nomad people) concured a part of romania for a period of time ...so to get that straight it was called sinnicolau mare before u guys came there.

i don`t hate ,but i don`t like when people are lying

  • @podiumocska, @Monicagd2007 to you and to all idiots who think the Transilvania was hungarian land ... fuck off ... barbaric nation who occupied northern Romania and killed thousend people ... Romania is not yours and will never bee even if we die to defend it ... you low life scum !!!!

  • @podiumocska, @Monicagd2007 to you and to all idiots who think the Transilvania was hungarian land ... fuck off ... barbaric nation who occupied northern Romania and killed thousand people ... Romania is not yours and will never bee even if we die to defend it ... you low life scum !!!!

  • that's a fact that Bartok lived in hungary. he told that he is hugnarian. but he loved romanian folk music too.

He was born in 1881. This time the place where he was born was HUNGARY ,so he was born in hugnary. Got it? Is you were born in Yugoslavia, than it will be never changed, even if that country doesn't exist any more.

    clever-egg.

  • @Monicagd2007 Sannicolau Mare is a town in Romania!

  • @Monicagd2007

  • @Monicagd2007 or he couldv'e been a Romanian composer born under Hungarian rule.

  • @Monicagd2007

Or hungarian,or romanian......citizen i would say roumanian, and still hungarian nation.

  • @Monicagd2007 Bartok was not born rumanian ever, you wish.

  • @Monicagd2007 Provokálsz, Maónika?

  • this is the real equality.

Cigány (Gipsy) orchestra in Hungary in a Synagogue playing Romanian folk dances of a Hungarian composer.

( He was collecting hungarian, romanian, serbian etc. folk songs, melodies ... )

  • more exactly, a Hungarian composer, whose mother was Slovak (to make it even more mixed :) you are right, he was a great composer.

  • .. slovak father and german mother .. more exactly

  • If you are ignorant, you shouldn't write such stupid things. His mother was bunjevac and his father was hungarian.

  • @brandistocker Those jews better be careful. Gyppos will steal from even jews.

  • @brandistocker

In a synagogue ? Is this the reason each player is donning the jewish hat ? Or is each of them jewish ?

  • @brandistocker

Is the synagogue location the reason why each player wears a hat ? Or is it a synagogue band ?

  • very good rendition of the work, maybe even the best

  • The guy on the fiddle is brilliant

  • Beautiful, amazing, so nice, ... I cry when I listened this song.

  • Ambitious, Dynamic and Truly Artistic Gentlemen, Worth of appreciation, Thank you.

  • What is the soloist's name?

  • Gyula Fehér

  • clarinetes muuuuuuy fuertes

    x(

  • Exactly how this music should be heard. Molto glissando! Expression is so much more important in this music then hitting every note.

Bubblyviolin11 you have a lot to learn

  • :O) you are very right sir/madam.

but he still did a pretty damn good job hitting the notes :O)

  • wow..this has a lot of energy..i wish our orchestra could be like that too because we are playing these pieces ;)

  • I absolutely love this piece! Especially this video of the rajko orchestra; I think it is the best interpretation ive heard. I cant find a CD of it anywhere! Does anyone know where i could get it?

  • This is exactly the way it should be played

  • i find it great...and i am romanian

  • Gyönyörű! Gratulálok!

  • I'm so proud of being hungarian and have such great artists like Bartok and The Rajko Orchestra!!!!

  • what a pompous waste of space you are...

  • Sorry. Ur sentence cant change the facts.

So, what r u talking about?

  • You should be more open minded, this is not Baroque music. The 'out of tune' you hear is actually a delicate sense of Eastern, modal, pure and natural music, transposing your mind to the subtile life and culture of the Romanian early - folk dances. I imagine so :)

  • U may be right. But I think all of us has his/her own explanation. Different point of views, thats all.

He can play well on the violin and anybody can make mistakes.

  • lol he's not making mistakes. i'm playing this piece on the violin right now. as weird as it sounds to you, that is totally unmistakably the correct notes XD

unfortunately i can't read your original comment, but you're right? to each his own. no one has to like every song that ever existed. and i like dodiezresibemol's comment.. it's pretty. hehe

  • There is something around 1:02 which hurts my ears.

I have no idea where my original comment is.

May be there is not real freedom in opinioning even here as well, haha.

  • well there was one out of tune note lol XD but that was some seconds later

  • u dont understand the essence of internet: my opinion as free as urs.

I dont like such authoritarian comments like some of here.

i prefer other interprets of this play.

  • i don't know who ur talking to, but I AM playing it. so wtf?

  • out of tune it's called glissando, specific in the estern folk music !

  • What tune is that?

  • the b flat is too flat

  • Roma zenészek egy zsinagógában.. Mi sem bizonyítja jobban, hogy a komolyzene multikulturális. Mellesleg a kedvenc youtube-os "verzióm"! Köszönöm Rajkók!:)

Gypsy musicians in a synagoge.. Proofs, that classical music is multicultural. By the way, its my favourite interpretation on youtube.. Thank you Rajkos !:)

  • They're playing in Budapest, Hungary. This song is called Romanian Folk Dances, by Bela Bartok.

  • Szerentem Te értetted félre, ennek a Bartók műnek ez a címe "román táncok"

  • Superb !

  • the folk variant sang by sebesten martha is beautiful, too

  • romanian dances and folk songs from bochindai(botinda) cluj county, transylvania

  • Kolozs megye, Erdély, helyesebben..

  • Not my cup of tea, I prefer his (Bartoks) other work, but still in a higher calibur than most other renditions of the evangelistic and peotic hallmark of creativity that is music. Oh, and by the way, why is everyone talking about Hungarians and Romanians... /=

  • i saw these guys this october in budapest! they are awsome!

  • interesting rendition.

  • wonderfull!! I play this piece on flute only..

    is LUKÁCS in this orchestra?

    5 stars!

  • a great masterpiece .the composer is a genious..

    5/5

  • A very passionate and moving performance. Gives a sense of communion.. I feel that from it anyway. What a fine composer Bartók was.

  • well marker853 your mother is a dirty whore and i dont hate her for that

  • see youre reflection first, after it you could talk

  • the very best version I listened. esto es música popular y tradicional, es decir, música clásica. bravo maestros

  • very good job done by the hungarian jews, they again captured the emotional essence of this masterpiece, for me bartok bela is one of the greatest hungarians that ever lived

  • Gratulálok testvérem .!!Rengetegen láttak.Ez nem semmi!

  • These musicians could be Romanian or Hungarian. Is no way how to distinguish because they all looks the same. Please visit Romania and Hungarian and you will see. Besides, Transylvania was dominated for a few years by Hungary.

  • And austrians, and germans in the same time.

  • Wat is the name of song 1:55

  • Pe loc (Rumanian folkdance from county Torontál)

  • bien.

  • Very nice ! Thanx for upload !The Hungarian musicians are very good.

  • I like this version! Bravo!

  • szép :-)

  • These are not Romanian musicians:)

  • Why?

  • Those Romanian musicians are really fantastic.

  • They are Hungarians

  • And if I am not mistaken, so was the composer.

  • Bela Bartok, composer and ethno-musicolog : father-slovak , mother-german , hungarian- citizen , born in Sannicolaul Mare (Great Saint-Nicholas)-today, west Romania !!

  • Everybody belongs to the nation, where he wants to belong! I know I'm not 100% hungarian, BUT If I will die, I do NOT want somebody to say this was not a hungarian! I speak hungarian, I feel like hungarian, I AM a HUNGARIAN. Ferenc Liszt was a hungarian and Béla Bartók too!

  • Sure, Bela Bartok, a very good friend of romanians, was a hungarian, as I said, from slovak father and german mother and borned in Sannicolaul Mare, today in Romania. He didn,t choose it. It was matter of destiny. It was just a funny curiosity. I don,t see what,s your comment point.

  • marker853, this was really a shitty comment!

And I am a Romanian who is telling you this!

Music should be listened with the ears and with the heart and definitely not with stupid nationalistic preconceptions in the mouth.

This is beautiful music! 5 stars from me!

  • Liszt was an Austro-Hungarian and spoke German, he didnt't learn Hungarian until he was an adult, and he barely used it.

Nevertheless he felt as a German Hungarian, too, so he's the perfect example of the Austro-Hungarian citizen.

  • Ferenc Liszt was a hungarian, because he wanted to be a hungarian. His mother language was german. BUT! His father was a hungarian. He wrote a lot of songs only for greetings his fatherland. For example "Rákóczi induló" (Rákóczy march) Rákóczy was a great hungarian war chief. There's only one reason why Liszt didn't speak hungarian: HE COULDN'T LEARN IT! Don't you believe? Try to learn it.. I think chinese is an easier way. XD Nevertheless his name "Liszt" means flour in hungarian.

  • The cellist looks like Louie DeVito (comedian)

  • The 'cellist is hilarious XD

  • Lovely. Greetings and peace from Romania!

  • I love this version, so full of colour. It looks effortless compared to those over exagurrated violin and piano arrangements.

  • I could agree they're interesting. Their performance is full of life and joy, but if you'd sharpen your ears, you could hear how many times they fell apart. And that's only obvious incoherence. Listen for woodwinds: they're often too loud and override rest of the orchestra.

But what is most important, they're gypsies and you can hear it in every note. They would turn stone to pudding by only playing this Bartok's piece.

  • They look Indian... then again, the Gypsies were Indians. Love the composition, love this performance.

  • Do I see any violas up there?

  • nope you really cant hear the harmony of the violas

  • Best recording I've seen so far.

  • They're excellent, but i like solo better.

  • excellent
