  • very good documentary!

  • @RichardElden ur racist........well to the irish just one question how is the famine a good thing

  • the england did not give a damn about us irish did they even know how we were suffering but america stepped in to save the day but england just might feel guilty now wont they

  • The Queen of England spent more on her dog's home than on the Irish people in the same year. Women were forced to eat seaweed on beaches due to their starvation. Babies were dying in the arms of their mothers. At the height of the famine, huge ships were coming in not containing food supplies...but completely empty as slaveships for the Irish... Unbelievable that these demonic criminals still sit on their thrones. What these criminals have done to the human race...

  • @BeyondDogmaTV There was poverty in England aswell, it's just that in England there was no potato blight. It's bullshit to suggest this was genocide - bullshit. Unfortunately, the Irish will continue to perpetuate their victim culture. It is bit boring now though don't you think?

  • @jwgeezer

England was an extremely wealthy country in the 1840s. It went through a recession in 1845/46 the economy began to boom in 1847 the worst year of the famine. Massive amounts of food were exported from Ireland because of Britains free market policies. Ireland had a similar famine in 1782 but the Home Rule government prohibited the export of food which prevented deaths. The Poor Laws were implemented differently on both islands. Don't forget history or we are condemned to repeat it.

  • They did do something. They came over and stole all the food and livestock. England suffered from the blight too yet they didn't starve. They sent soldiers over to Ireland to steal all that was edible.

  • @rugbymom75 Crap. That's just classic republican propaganda. When are the Irish going to lose their victim culture? Even Thierry Henry was on the end of it! We are Irish, we're always the victims - we are Irish, we're always the victims. Time to move on eh?

  • why do people here in ireland not want to talk about what happenen? its like china and what happened in tiananmen square, the people are not allowed to talk about it.....

  • @seanyroche would u wanna talk about it like starving dying racisim is was terrible

  • they also deported the food we had. so it wasnt completely passive. but we're not allowed to talk about it for some reason, its 'deluded propaganda' or romanticism apparently. very sad. and not that long ago either, in the scheme of things.

  • @stucknad

Ignore the others. You are one of the few people that has more than a brain cell for a brain.

  • when will we be angry enough to say... NO! to monsters

  • Any one who dares to speak the truth about the Irish Fammine is quickly accused of being a nasty Irish Anti British by the pc police

  • As an Irish-American, I feel we need to let go of any anger at England for past failures...most of the common people probably had no idea what was going on anyway. Right now the WHITE race is in danger of extinction through mass immigration and an attempt to blend us out of existence through media mind control. This is happening today. Anti-racism is anti-White.

  • @stucknad

tut tut..please take the Irish out of your description of yourself...there is no Irish in you!

Your sick kind have no place here in Ireland...

  • @stucknad As an Irish american you seem partially Anglacised by a Colonial upbringing and refer to a white race ! race is a british colonialist idea to divide black and white slaves based on a Theory of another inbred cousin of the inbred darwin!

  • They did more than nothing, they exported the food out of the country!

  • Just how the Nazis used starvation to kill off the Jewish people. The English implied the same tactic.

  • @ImagesByDavid exactly forced labour building roads , family broken up , slavery genocide and forced immigration ! then you get these anglo yanks telling us we are white !!! lol

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDustock Invading where? You micks certainly have a "distorted" slant on historical fact. And tell me, what did William Wilberfirce, Billy Pitt and the man who wrote Amazing grace(John Newton) do???? 80 years before the rest of the world???? Go on tell us all.

  • @MrDustock Nature has a system called natural selection. in 1804, the population of Britain and Ireland was similar.. Now the UK is 60 million and the ROI is 4,5 million. Natural selection, the population adjusts to what the land can support!

  • @MrDustock Stealing?? Buying produce from the lawful landowner is not stealing. Filthy peasants expecting handouts is begging....so stop distorting history to suit your warped mick agenda.

  • @MrDustock No you must obviously be very stupid for believing that there was any genocide in Ireland. It is amazing how many people seem to believe that somehow, a pan european famine in the 19th century, was somehow generated by the British

  • @MrDustock Of course it did, only to you "people". The hate, bile and sheer spite that pours out of you irish never ceases to be appalling.

  • @MrDustock The British government of that day dispersed crops around famine stricken europe, its called sharing the load. Something that seems to be missing from the Irish, it always about them and never about the greater good

  • There wasn't anything passive about the irish genocide. It was a calculated murderous scheme to exterminate the irish. forming blockade so that ships from sympathetic nations were not able to deliver food and creating the famine by not allowing the people to get food from thriving functioning farms was no way passive. I agree learn so history before you post.

  • @thesplendid1 Perhaps, as a yank, you would be better served showiing sympathy and concern for the 12 million Native americans murdered between 1850 and 1901, some of it just for fun. As for you silly little diatribe, obviously you have made some of it up because it has no acquaintance with historical fact! Now I wont even bother telling you to mind your own business, because you loud mouted fuckpigs always stick your snotty noses where they dont belong. Hump someone elses leg mutley!

  • @27sgall: the creator of the film is calling the actions of the British government at the time passive, not the fact that millions of people starved. Clearly you misunderstood the film, or else need to read up on your own history. The British government's actions were insufficient for the level of tragedy that occurred-- many politicians at the time even felt that relief efforts were the problem, not the Famine. He/She is saying the British gov't was inactive, thus killing those that needed help

  • @jangeltrain19 Why are you americans so morbidly fascinated by this famine, and why do you call it a "Great" famine, it wasnt so great for thise who were starving. And lets be very clear, the figure of 500,000 was closer to the true figure of fatalities..most of those dying through filth and disease. Lastly, you all seem to forget that it was a pan european famine, you americans alwasy focus on the irish, why is that?

  • @MrBigfatbloke Im Scottish before you think im a yank. Im doing essay on irish economy pre famine. Ireland was worst hit by the blight because it was relied upon by the poorer folk and it was main vegetable grown because it was so easy to grow.

Most books i read say between 1 and 1.5 million people died.

At that time it was called the Great Famine because it was so large and affected so many people, fancy way of saying it was big, like the first world war was the great war.

  • @fergoose78 The Great Famine refers to the Pan European famine, the Irish and their yank camp followers hijacked the term. The people of the highlands of Scotland faired far worse in the 1840s. Most books dont know how many died, there was no census but accomplished historians put the figure in Ireland at less than 500,000 and most died through ldisease caused by lack of hygiene.

  • HOW DARE YOU call the STARVING of the Irish "Passive!" Get educated or don't post on the net. How irresponsible, reckless and ignorant.

  • Onlygoodhunsadeadun1

Yes stealing food, by wanting to send them back you are in effect wanting to starve them.If the immigrants are leaving of their own accord why are you on here so much complaining about them? In your statement there you have sure confirmed Ireland2day's Dublin today video is indeed a lie. As for me, I do not hate anything, I just happen to emphasise greater importantance on what is of greater importance than allowing people to die and starve, to be republican. Shame on you!

  • Mass Starvation , the preferred english method of extermination for troublesome natives ! google south african concentration camps , irish holocaust , indian mutiny ,

Charles Dickens talked of wishing to "do my utmost do exterminate the (Indian) race."

  • @onlygoodhunsadeadun1 also the highland clearences and highland potato famine in scotland where 2.000.000 people emigrated and the scottish gaels starved forced to build destitution roads to nowhere to justify the meagre rashions by the british government. Ethiopians arnt forced to build roads leading to a cliff to get food in 1985, so why did they do that in the 1840s? Disgusting.

  • So therefore the Irish racists on YouTube who want immigrants out of our country are passively killing too.

  • passive genocide my bollocks you dirty tan , you know nothing about the famine ! you are using the mass murder of 2 million irish people to justify mass immigration into ireland !

you are a sick cunt !

    there was no famine !

    w w w Irish holocaust . o r g

  • Holocaust dot org and other websites like it were set up by brainwashed nutters like yourself. Stop spreading your hate material onto educated people's videos. The racists of Ireland are passive killers.

  • can you give me a list of the books you read on the subject of the great hunger ?

you seem to be an expert on the subject |!

  • Onlygoodhunsadeadun1

All books are written by people, people who slant their own understanding on subjects and beliefs into them. You could read a hundred books and be left with 100 different theories to things. Books on this subject has nothing to do with the fact that you racists are wanting to treat others the same as our ancestors were treated. The outline theory is correct.

  • our ? you're English ! you're not Irish , have you seen any starving africans walking around lately , i only ever see them driving suv's !

dont you think its funny that the english were just as Dependant on the potato as the irish were , the blight reached england before ireland , yet the english didn't starve ! why ?

because they sent 75,000 soldiers to Ireland to steal Ireland's food thats why ! you should really study a subject before you comment on it ,

  • Onlygoodhunsadeadun1

I am Irish whether you like it or not!

On the subject of stealing food, it is what you are in effect doing, wanting immigrants to go back so you can have more for yourself. You are thinking selfishly. Also when the Irish emigrated to America, they were not wanted by them. Same thing! You're want of immigrants out of this country is driven by greed and racism!

  • Stealing Food ? lol my taxes fill their bellies The immigrants are leaving of their own accord , for greener pastures , if indeed you are irish ? why do you hate yourself ? why do you hate your language ? you should try to learn it and use it everyday , it's the second oldest language in europe , it was the first of the european languages to be written down ! i'm making a video for you it should be ready in a couple of days , i know you need a little help with your history !!!

    good night !
