  • anyone hear the voice at 1:20

  • Voice!, yep =)

  • LOL I knew I wasn't crazy :)

  • no??

  • listen closer

  • The music went over 1:20 as I was reading your comment about the voice and I was like,"No way." It timed itself so perfectly. Haha. Sounds like it's a man screaming,"DANNAYYY!"

  • haha.. I just did exactly the same, how bizarre :D

  • man, this tune in a headset is a brain massage....whoooooaaa.....

  • Listening to this in a headset changes the whole experience!

  • meh

  • This clip is so surreal..reminds me of Dalí

  • yea i see wot u mean fella. =)

  • How is this high quality?

  • audio

  • im tired of people comparing this music to dance music apex twin is a musician and a creative mastermind he aint no fucking retard with a drum machine and sampler and a shitty female singer covering madonna songs with a big beat behind it! dj shadow and aphex twin and maybe a bit of fat boy slim is the business. anyone got any recommendations for artist simular to aphex twin?

  • flying lotus

    Panacea - Twisted Designz

    Amon Tobin

    Trifonic

Akira Kiteshi - Pinball , and one or two others

  • all music contributes in some way, so dont be so hasty to disregard it;

anyway try tom middleton; moby (hotel), the orb, for a jazzier sound go for the cinematic orchestra, or for a slightly more disco vibe try aeroplane.

    enjoy

  • Squarepusher, Boards of Canada, search for styles - ambient, IDM, breakcore.

  • @Phillip8893:

    You'd probably like these:

    Autechre

    Squarepusher

    Bogdan Raczynski

    ("Melody AM" era) Royksopp

Check the other two responses, too.

  • nice sound

  • oh gee wiz thanks for saying that, otherwise i would have missed it for real!!!!111!!!

    :\ fail

  • Wow. Amazing.

  • Theres no one in the world quite like Richard :)

  • i really love all his work.

    people could learn a thing

    or two from him,

  • Wow! This is an almost perfect marriage of image and sound, miles better than the effort by the loon who put images of nuclear explosions and 24/7 to Xtal.

  • Agreed! I really think this video matches the music very well!

  • dreadlegs: "Wow! This is an almost perfect marriage of image and sound, miles better than the effort by the loon who put images of nuclear explosions and 24/7 to Xtal. "

Uhh, i'd hope so... this is the official video for this song... made what? 16 years ago?... anyways...

  • to all afx fans... WE are fucking crazy!! so, if you dont think so... u think everyone is crazy... anyway somebody is crazy.. hehahohuhiiiiiihoooo (laugh)

  • the fact that almost 1million people saw this clip [meaning most of them probably liked it] means that idm is becoming commercial and it has lost/ is losing its underground character.

it is fucking allarming. i am by no means happy :)

  • If you randomly walk up to someone on the street and ask them what IDM is or who Aphex Twin is, they aren't going to have a fucking clue what your talking about. If a million people watch this video and like it, than that is a great thing. It means people actually will know what good music is instead of this Kanye West shit. Besides, this video has been up since 2006, and there are alot of AFX fans on the internet. So you really dont have to worry about IDM becoming mainstream anytime soon.

  • And maybe many of those AFX fans have been on here and listened to it more than once...

  • I did at least 1000 occasions alone... if you see it this way, it was watch by no more than 1000 people. Not too bad...

  • While i agree, 1 million people ain't that many.

  • Aphex Twin is the Mozart of electronica. Amon Tobin would be the Beethoven. 1 milion views is not much if you ask me. It's actually quite sad. There are over 6 bilion people living on this planet ya know...

  • There are 6 billion people in the world.

  • You are retarded, there are 6 billion.

  • @AwesomeGTAvids

    I lol'd

  • LOL? Are you a caveman or something? There's 6 Billion people in the world..

  • more like 7

  • dont get fancy. if you round it off it goes to 6 billion. its something like 6.2 billion.. anyways..

  • 6.76, round up.. and if i were to get fancy id say "There are currently 6,770,332,394 people on planet Earth give or take due to deaths and births that are ever-present and re-occurring. " so if you round it off you get 7 billion, ;)

  • ahh interesting i based my facts on when I learnt the population of the earth when i was in highschool, which was 6,2b i didnt think it actually got up that much since then :p congrats you won a youtube argument and taught me something :D

  • dont get fancy

  • most of the videos/songs that i consider masterworks have way less views than this.. i like that, makes me feel special. they have yet to discover what real music is all about.

  • no because 1million people hearing this doesnt change the actual music (which is the same) and therefore your opinion of it shouldnt change. I mean starting to get worried because lots of people like something you also like is a bit ridicolous. Also saying the fact that 1 million peopl saw this clip means most of them liked it is a bit far fetched. And i am telling you now - you have nothing to worry about this music is not going to become mainstream any time soon (i wouldnt mind if it did)

  • well I HOPE this wont get mainstream, almost every genre which became mainstream become worse (more commercial)

  • there will always be an underground electronic music scene, even if the trendier stuff gets more mainstream, its less in the public eye in america than say europe or other countries. even extreme artists like venetian snares has like 1.5 million hits on his myspace account, that wouldve been unheard of even 10 years ago, so even as electronic music grows a larger and larger following, it is still underground, and will most likely remain that way

  • aphex is the shiiiiit

    even when im sober.

  • oh...

  • theres a commercial out now that uses the same exact sound from this and it pisses me off!

  • haha yeah i just heard an all state commercial that sounds a lot like this. i fucking freaked out when i heard it in the background "AFX ON TV!?!?" i was then harshly disappointed.

  • hahaha thank you, i thought know one else would recognize it. my girlfriend thought i was nuts

  • "AFX ON TV"

Few years ago in the Uk, Mercedes used windowlicker on one of their car commercials :)

  • haha i wonder if they knew what windowlicker was referring to!

  • i like kuma music

  • wtf?

  • not only americans are the stupids who watch it, i like this video, i like to be stupid

  • you dense fuckin cunt, you americans are dense fuckas & pussys. when you fag rats grow balls big enough to move off your sprayed up sugary chronic and start moving into lsd and 2ce n all that shit then give aphex twin another listen. dense fuckbag

  • any generation can say that sentence

    before it was better

wether aphex will be remembered or not

none of us will be there to know it for sure and that's what is good about it

  • Jarvis cocker directed this

  • 1:20

    who's there??

  • wow O.o

  • WOW *__*

  • the mu-ziq mix is even better. well done mike

  • im having trouble finding this on itunes, help please?

  • fantastic

  • For me, Aphex Twin is a symbol. Even his artistic name is one of the bests i ever heard. I know from where it came, but it also have a great meaning, if we see that "Twin" is not a perfect copy of something. it also can be something that share his life (til 10 years old) in halfs (lail -.-' yeah i'm twin xD shit) - i mean, it's like someone is leading his hands, while composing music. It can be synesthesy, nightmares or just life. We're all failed copies of perfection, so we're all twins.

  • it's weird pseudointellectual shit like this comment that makes me glad i stopped smoking pot. what in the fuck are you even talking about?

  • brilliant

  • pot head.!!!!!!!

  • I agree that he is one of the best but if you like this give squarepusher a listen.

  • Yeah, Squarepusher is really good.

I`ve probably got it on video somewhere!

  • me 2 ;-)

  • it's a acid trip video

  • I wonder how many pictures it took to make this video.

  • Roughly about 3000 (205 seconds, aprox. 15 fps)...

  • i could actually sleep to that

  • Good beat. COOL

  • Ya, how would I get this song? It isn't on any of the albums, yet this is one of my favorite songs.

  • i got it off limewire. beautiful instrumental.

  • are you sure its not on his ambient record

  • It's on his On album from 1993..

  • The Video was directed by Jarvis Cocker, the singer from Pulp ~~~~ Good show old bean

  • there is a different version of this sing called 'maximum electronica' i think?

  • yup he has a song called maximum electronica that is exactly like this, except its about 8 minutes long

  • Great vid. Makes me wonder about things outside the box. O-O

  • outside of the box?

    YOU TRIPPIN BOY?

  • ah...... the wonders of Richard D. James =)

  • Love this song! Makes working a whole lot easier :D

  • You trolls. Rich is not dead. He even did a record last year under the alias of the Tuss. :)

  • Don't worry people, He's not dead. Just people messing around.

  • RIP Richard :(, so sad...

  • RIP Richard? What happened to him?

  • It's about this.

Aphex Twin actually had an older brother, also named Richard D. James. However, he died in childbirth.

Aphex Twin himself has actually had some forms of tribute to him. His grave is on the cover of his EP Girl/Boy, and on the sleeve insert of the U.S. edition of his album Richard D. James.

  • wtf?

  • richard didnt die...

  • high quality....

    NOT!

  • i think they are referring to the quality of the audio...not the video

  • one of my fave vids, tunes and artists of all time...just washes over me, so quirky yet moving too :-)

  • Aphex twin is from around cornwall i think, so it probably is.

  • born in ireland though

  • Might be, but vid was directed by one Mr Jarvis Cocker so may be a fine northern beach

  • It's the Dee estuary, in Chester.

  • i always assumed it was cornwall. not that i ever spent much time wondering about it. cool video. got my attention in a bar years before I'd heard of Aphex Twin or Pulp.
