Fallout 3 On Ubuntu with Playonlinux

tried normal wine, couldnt get the game to even load up :/... but after a little research, i've noticed directx doesnt work too good with wine at all on my machine, that and my gpu is a big problem on its own... this is a business based pc, standard, so while it has good specs, the gpu is only an nvidia geforce fx 5500, the game needs like 6500 and up i think :/ so im gonna upgrade my gpu, or get a gaming machine.. thanks for replying though ^^; is there a way to switch to opengl from dx though?

the appearance selection doesnt work at all, nothing but a black screen with a pulsing grey orb on the left side, everything slows down dramatically, and i can hear the sound effects when i hover an option on the right, but i cant see anything at all :/... any idea what the problem is or how to solve it? i've tried messing with wine through pol, and running without pol, nothing seems to work at all....

you probably get this alot but... did you have any issues in character creation/new game? because i cant seem to get past that...... starting videos work great, but then it goes to the white screen with the random blood splats, sound works great, captions too, problem is, screen fades to black after the white blood screen, then it stays black, but everything else works fine, sound, captions, gender choice is visible, but nothing around it, just a little box, name choice too, but...

when i try to mount the iso file it appears "CD-ROM is NOT in ISO 9660 format"?!?!? i tried different fallout3 iso files and they dont seem to work!?!?! any other iso file works great. CAN ANYONE HELP ME

nice mate, i wish i could get running on ubuntu, but for some reason my 3d graphics wont work, i think, how do you enable opengl in ubuntu?

And btw, like the song, whats the name of it?

@kevino025 the song name is Trinity and i believe the artist is 009 sound system,

opengl should work with most new graphic cards, are you sure you have installed the drivers for your video card?

low framerate is due to the screencast

i normally get smooth gameplay with the HIGHEST settings

the quality is the same, but the framerate is lower than on windows, but i don't mind it since is still get a smooth gameplay

in this video the framerate is low because of the screencasting but i think i get like 40-50fps

ok, i must be a dumb ass but do you need the CD of FO3 for this to work or will it download the entire game?

you either need a cd or you can download a cracked iso and mount it

i downloaded an iso from thepiratebay

(so even a cracked copy runs fine)
