i have had the blue red black and green. not just a glass of each, i have had a 750 of each...several of the blue...love that stuff...but in the words of Ron White, its for folks who are going to die pennyless. lol
The black label is my GO TO scotch. i drink a LOT of it. a glass or two a day. been that way for YEARS. still love it, still havent figured it all out!!
great scotch, and not a bad price.
blue is VERY good, and if you can afford it, you really should try a 750.
@everydaydrinkers now thats what im trying to get into. single malts. i like my scotch like i like my cigars. complex. to me there is no substitute for a good cigar and a tall glass of JW black or blue...or any blended scotch.
thats whats great though, there is something for everyone! no one is doing it right, and no one is doing it wrong.
i just hate it when people get into verbal wars over what is better. lets all just enjoy some good whiskey and drink till the fat chicks are hot! lol
@madman720ap Yeah, that's my plan. If it goes well enough, as in, I get better at it (and positioning the camera) I'll probably make an itunes feed specifically for it for those that have ipods that want to download just these.
As for youtube, I just spill it all into my channel :)
I understand your point on complexity. however some people just do not like scotch. I myself am a big whiskey drinker, irish, canadian, bourbon, and others however the taste of most scotches is unpalatable for me. so it is not necessarily about wanting simple flavors, but rather personal flavor preference. that's all.
@thebladesman Yeah, if you don't like scotch, in general, that is probably very true. However, if you don't like scotch you're probably not running out to write a review of a specific scotch product either :)
I, for instance, am not a huge fan of campari (as you'll find out next week in one of our cocktails that I just recorded tonight). I'd not sit down and give it a "fair" review because it's not reviewable by me.
I don't need to be a pro, I just need to keep an open mind :)
@thebladesman Oddly enough, I wasn't a big bourbon drinking 5-years ago (bad experiences w/ first time drinking and getting a bit out of control). However, scotch was the one that brought me back into the fold and said "hey this stuff isn't so bad" and it was my gateway whisky back to bourbon :)
I do agree that JW black is consistently good and sometimes you find a bottle that is outstanding. I always drink mine neat I do use water in single malts but in black I find it tastes better neat.
one thing I would never pay over 20 bucks for a blend. at Total Wine you can always find JW black for under 20 bones. oh yea JW black is colored with e-150
@Tantrum777 Nice, $20 is a good deal. However, I'd pay over $20 for a blend if it's a great blend. I'll pay for quality and mastery if it's there, that's not problem for me. However, I will pay quality for anything done right, not just a spirit :)
@everydaydrinkers Teachers is a blend that is every bit as good as JW Black and I normally pay 13 or 14 bucks a bottle for that. its got more peat and smoke then JW Black and I enjoy that. Try it if you can find it.

@LeadSlinger89 right now I've been favoring single malt scotches, but JW is great when I'm out and about because every bar and pub has it :)

I agree with this review 100%. JW Black is one of my favorite blends when I can't afford my favorite single malts.

JWB is a good whisk y for a reasonable price. I like the aftertastes that tingle my mouth. To each his own...
