I'm surprised that documentary from Dateline is not uploaded onto YouTube yet. In fact Caril Ann Fuguate narrates in the documentary in some parts, too. Since 1988 was 12 years after her release on parole date back in 1976. Anyways, if anyone did tape that documentary off Dateline on NBC, I ask you'll upload it. The people at the cemetery office are very helpful and they will even give you a map to the grave. I think it was even open on Saturday when we were there. Otherwise, I don't remember exactly, but you go into the entrance nearest the office and turn to the left as you enter the cemetery. Starkweather is in section 28. All the sections are marked clearly. There is a sign at the South end of section 28, follow that row in and he's there. Good luck.

Most of the time the people in the offices are very helpful, but in California the Forest Lawn Cemeteries will not help at all. Westlawn in Chicago won't help either. It took us two hours to find Jack Ruby. Sometimes those are the most fun, though. Oswald was another where they wouldn't help us, but when we found it, it was very exciting.

I read that it was Martin Sheen that paid for the current grave marker. I can't even begin to imagine what your family has been through. I don't understand why people stoop to his level and vandalize his grave marker. Yes, what Charlie did was heinous, but he paid the ultimate price. People should leave it alone. I've read his brother Rodney had 6 kids and they used to get harrassed no on stop. His daughter Debra quit school at 16 because of the harrassment. Wasn't Bruce Springsteen, but Martin Sheen that paid for the current grave marker in the mid 80's. The original, bought in 1970 was vandalized.

Two pieces of trivia here: the guy that paid for the first grave marker in December 1970 was gonna go with a light color, but Charlie's dad said Charlie liked dark colors, therefore the first marker was black. This one paid for by Martin Sheen in the 80's is actually pink. I'm sure Charlie would hate it, so it'd be nice if this one doesn't get trashed. And last year on my birthday, I swear I saw Caril Ann Fugate!

While I was at the Bartlett's grave I saw an old couple pull up in a truck but stay a distance, when me & my girlfriend left they drove up to where we were. I got a pretty good look at the woman and it looked like Caril. Another tidbit, her grandmother, Pansy Street, is buried in the same section as Charlie, just a little further down. Caril's father, William Fugate is too, but apparantly in an unmarked grave. Seems there's a big section in Section 28 where there's a lot of unmarked graves.

I've been there, I've seen his grave. I've also been to the graves of all his victims except Merle Collison, who's buried in Northwest Montana. My birthday just happens to be June 25th (date of Charlie's execution) and Custer's Last Stand also happened on my birthday. Next year's vacation will be to the site of Little Bighorn battlefield and then the grave of the last of Charlie's victims

If anything, it's been said that the family, while poor, are honest, hard working, good people, and Charlie was the lone black sheep in the family. The people of Lincoln look at Charlie as the epitome of evil and don't view his family too favoribly. My opinion, I don't think Charle was evil, just incredibly stupid.

Wow, in what way are you related to Charlie? From what I've read the younger brothers were never bothered going through school, but at least his older brother Rodney's kids were harrassed unmercifully. Rodney's daughter Debbie did an interview with the Journal Star last year and she told how it got so bad that she had to quit school, and her brothers were also harrassed. It's sad cause Rodney's kids were born nearly 10 years after Charlie was dead, so they didn't know him.

I heard the grave was near 'R' Street. However, the only two entrances to the cemetary, one from O Street, and one from Cotner.

The people at the cemetery office are very helpful and they will even give you a map to the grave. I think it was even open on Saturday when we were there. Otherwise, I don't remember exactly, but you go into the entrance nearest the office and turn to the left as you enter the cemetery. Starkweather is in section 28. All the sections are marked clearly. There is a sign at the South end of section 28, follow that row in and he's there. Good luck.

Wow, I went there on my birthday last year (last June 25th) and asked for a map and the lady asked who I was looking for. My girlfriend said "I'll give you 3 guesses". The lady said "oh, you must be looking for what's his name. Trust me, he's not worth it". His grave is somewhat easy to find now as someone put pinecombs all around it.

Yep, a guy from Tennessee traveling through Lincoln with Disney On Parade stopped by, and had to shown the grave. The guy wondered why someone so famous had no grave marker. The guy was told that Charlie's dad was the only one that would visit the grave. The guy felt sorry for him and bought the original marker. In his words " for the father, not for the son". That marker was vandalized and eventually trashed. Martin Sheen paid for the current one in the 80's.

Thanks so much. We have a few sources - Find-a-Grave, and a couple of really great books - Tombstone Tourist and Where Are They Buried. Most of the time the people in the offices are very helpful, but in California the Forest Lawn Cemeteries will not help at all. Westlawn in Chicago won't help either. It took us two hours to find Jack Ruby. Sometimes those are the most fun, though. Oswald was another where they wouldn't help us, but when we found it, it was very exciting.

Sometimes I wonder how do you guys find them? I've been celebrity graving for years and a lot of times the people in the office will not tell give you locations if the person is famous. Regular schlubs, yes. Famous ones, no.
