I have a cover version of this great song and many others I'd love to share with you all. Please come visit my page and check out some Coversongs, Originals, and video artwork. And thanks!!
I do believe that's the wonderful Jennifer Batten playing back up on this number. She's well capable of doing something like this herself no question. This is wonderful music.
I can not believe how there are people who have no consideration in musical appreciation. I feel sorry for these 56 people, who have no musical culture.
@Mogrid100 I saw Jeff live last night.. What a delight. He is an amazing guitarist & I loved every single second of his pure genius guitaring.. F@#$ the 56 zero music culture vultures.. They know not of what they speak.. ;-)
I would say that if you cover the Beatles you better have something to say .... and .... whilst I don't think Jeff Beck is taking this piece to a new place I do like what he has done and admire his craft .... I added to my favs - thanks Jeff, you done good
The drum part is hopelessly cliché, Jeff did it good but he did make the ending notes too short and then it lose all the psychedelic theme of the song
ich...don't dare mention gilmore in the same breath... invention and creation are somewhat different than..copy or.repetition..... this rendition is horseshit.
I'll be when Jeff Beck and David Gilmore go to sleep at night they dream about each other's impeccable tone and intuitively tasteful, inventive playing!
rare to take a Beatles song and make your own magic with it- he does here- how brilliant to do it without words- the listener adds them in his/her own mind.
there's playing the music you love ,and loving the music you play , BECK loves the music he plays thats why he puts so much into it, and why we all get so much out of what BECK puts in. jj7
When it was Clapton, Page and Beck (or Beck and Page), Eric peaked almost at the end of Cream, and was " British Blues Giant" and, of course, "god." Page was blowing an unsuspecting public's brains to the shredder with Led Zeppelin I, and Beck? Didn't really follow him, but he'd turn up in the strangest places -- jazzy, "fusion" things, throwing himself at locomotives, succeeding just once, when his lower left leg was crushed by the train and his foot was amputated as soon as the pus was squirti
jeff back is in that very rare calibre of guitarists (along with jimmy page, george harrison and david gilmour) whose talent is based more on creating great music rather than showboating technical skills - i personally think coming up with good simple melodies is harder than pushing technical limits. well done.
@Yardbird68 yeah man so would i he is one of the greatest white guitarists of all time but when the blackman comes into it he gets left for dead .. one word ... Hendrix
@Yardbird68 hendrix been dead a very long time but he would still woop jeff becks old ass even at the level jeff is at now the hendrix 39 years ago would of .... still killed him on the spot in A Guitar duel
@BEATLEJEWZ LOL!! What if? you speak of, a young Hendrix wooping an old ass Jeff. They were about the same age, if Hendrix didn't die it would be two old asses dueling, lol! I like both, each does their own thing very well, Jeff has always been an accomplished player using a slide, Jimi didn't hardly ever use a slide ( that I can remember ). But actually, who cares who can whip whos ass!! I guess you do. I somehow think Jimi if alive would aslo feel about it.....WHO CARES!!! its all good!!!
I play this song everyday (Ignoremywords) on acoustic using mostly chords and can sing both John & Paul's parts. Not hard to do at all! JB plays every nmote and nice going 'Tal"~~
@hayabusfmw, If you claim to have massive musical knowledge yes? then you would also say that it doesn't matter who is better or faster or slower or whatever. Its the music that counts not this Right and wrong, bad and good just diffirent shades of colour.
usually when people try to improvise legendary songs like stairway on a different instrument, it usually sucks. but i wouldn't expect that to come from jeff beck though :)
I have to disagree. Tone is deffinately Not in the fingers. Ever heard of Django Reinhardt? he played with just 2 fingers, hell I know a guitar player who plays with his feet and I can tell you he plays alot better than U2's guitarist.
Tone, Blues, Music in general It is in our hearts, in our soul.
B.B. king is quite alright, not as good as he used to be, at least thts how I feel.
Yet the tone of a vibrato does not only come with the technique of your fingers. If you don't put passion into tht one note, you won't get the tone that makes people cry, laugh or just shiver.
@MysteryHunterz well, BB King might not be as good as he used to be, but thats alright, considering how old he is right now!!!! most musicians would've retired decades earlier but he's still jammin' the blues, mate.
I personally do not like this performance of this song. If you want a great version check it out when he plays with Tal Wilkenfeld at Ronnie Scotts jazz club. I believe its ten folds better than this performance.
Tabbing his playing must be a nightmare.
