I have a lot of these symptoms now...but I was just diagnosed with Graves disease this yr...so my doctors are thinking that that has something to do with it...but I'm freaking out (I'm just 20) God help us.

You can get ovarian cancer young, a pap smear does not detect it. An ultrasound is necessary. Don't see a general practitioner once ovarian cysts are discovered.  See a GYN. Don't ignore pain, swelling, wt loss, fever, or other signs you are unwell. Painful sex, painful defecation and painful urination should never be ignored.

can a young girl, like 16-17 years old get ovarian cancer? or is it just found in older woman?

@valypaly3 Yes young girls can have it to. Doctors would ussually say that its very unlikely, ovarian cancer is usually more likely for older woman or woman who have children, however this does NOT mean that younger girls CANT get ovarian cancer. I personally knew a girl who was 21 and had it, but her doctor said it was unlikely bc she was so young. Thus, if you worry and you have all those symptoms i would still check to make sure

@FrizzyChrissyX thx so much. yes i recently scheduled a sonogram just to make sure, and even if i don't have ovarian cancer and the symptoms are something else it would still be nice to have the piece of mind. theres a girl i know that is 16 and has ovarian cancer. i was told i might just be paranoid but my pains are real, so i'd like to see if it ovarian cancer, and if not then thats one less worry right. thx again for your help.

@BigBlaqueKat . one thing they fail to talk about is the high rate of return for OVC. Once it has hit the advance stages, it just keeps coming back until it kills you. I was diagnosed in dec 2007...remained cancer free until this week, when it returned in the lymp nodes of my neck.;..... Some women I've talked to...have been treating it like a chronic disease and managing it that way...because it comes back so often.

I have all of these symptoms and they have been going on over time and some I have had for the past 12 months. I am getting a ultrasound soon though, my doctor also said that I'm too young to have cancer. I say she and anyone else is wrong and is ignorant to it all.

Many women die because they don't know at an early stage of the disease about the symptoms they might present when suffering Ovarian Cancer so this is a very useful video.
