  • can you either: explain what why and how you use the CO2? or direct me to a good link that explains why to use, how to use, and how much co2 to use in this kind of tank?

    Thanks in advance !

  • @advtactics01 Plants are like 90% carbon so they grow better when you give them a source of carbon, for example carbon dioxide. You can make you own with yeast and sugar water or you can buy a setup like I have. You have to diffuse the CO2 into little bubbles with a diffuser or just have it go into the filter like mine so it will get absorbed into the water and not just float up and out. You use a drop checker to measure the CO2. I have one on the side of my tank in the video.

  • @advtactics01 The water in the drop checker will and the tank water will equalize with the same amount of CO2 which will change the PH of the water in the drop checker and make it change color. It has the same stuff in it that you use to measure the PH of the tank water. They have it set up so that when there is the right amount of CO2 it turns green. Hope that helps!

  • how do you clean the bottom ??

  • @jean9910 With a gravel vac, I just don't suck up any gravel, just dirt.

  • where did you get your light fixture from? is that a 30 gallon long tank

  • @BESTDISHEVER I think I got if from bigalspetsdotcom and no, its just a regular 30.

  • put a bullhead in there and se how clean it is within 5 min!

  • how long does it take to grow all that

  • @jorgerojas321 About 3 or 4 months

  • Yo had do you plant those in the substrate cuz I used to have them and they kept floating up. I wanna get then again because they make a really nice lawn in a planted tank.

  • @fortheloveoffish I just put a small patch in and sprinkle some of the substrate on top to hold it down. Any thing that grows out from there should stay in. I would only do that if you have a lot. If you dont then take little pieces with just a couple of stems and push them in with tweezers so just the top is barely sticking out.

  • what is the plant name for the grass thingy please tell ME!

  • @Whiteboy99LOL Hemianthus callitrichoides

  • I have the same light fixture, except its the 48in with 2 54w bulbs. But what bulbs are you using?

  • @XXGOLDENXXDRAGONXX I use a 10,000k bulb and 6,700k bulb.

  • @thedarknessofvoid what fish

  • I want to do this with my tank... Where do you get plants?

  • @MrRileYmyboy aquariumplants (dot) com

  • how much did you start off with and how long did it tack to cover the grownd like that?

  • @DaughtersBoi I started with about four or five pots and it took about 3 to 4 months.

  • i cant beleive i need 30 gallon tank for 1 friggen fish :(

  • @TheDarknessOfVoid What fish?

  • @tyler361549 Red Fantail Goldfish,

  • Add more tall plants that the fish can hide behind.you have to consider what the fish like too.just because it looks perfect to you doesn't mean that it's perfect for your fish.make them feel at home.it's a nice tank just add a bit more taller plants.

  • amazing!

  • @magelaugh123 Thank You

  • @tyler361549 i just love how you planted everything and made it prefect! i want to have a similar tank like this.

  • are cherry shrimp good for planted aquarium? and do they suit with qouramis and neons?+i have 2 siamese algae eaters.

  • @iownudie108 Shrimp prefer to be in a planted aquarium but can be sensitive to fertilizers, especially anything with copper in it. If a fish can eat a shrimp it probably will. I have kept neons with my shrimp and they have done okay because there mouths are so small they can only eat the babies and thats if they can find them and catch them. I think the gourami might be a problem but the algae eaters shouldn't be because they wouldn't want to eat them.

  • @tyler361549 ok ,im going to remove that"PROBLEM" pretty soon xD,hes a splinter in the ass. all he does is terrorise the other fishes...

  • where and how does your CO2 enters the tank?

  • @illusiondee At 1:46 you can see the co2 tank where it is coming from and from there it goes through a tube that goes into my filter intake. You can see where it goes in at 2:06.

  • @illusiondee At 1:46 you can see the co2 tank where it is coming from and from there it goes through a tube that goes into my filter intake. You can see where it goes in at 2:06.

  • Can all the heaters go all under water i have a new marinland heater that looks like yours????????

  • @khainley09 Yours should be able to go all the way under water. Most of them can, theres only a few where the top has to remain out of the water.

  • if i have a tank like rhis would i neeeed co2??????????

  • @ihatethenameluca Yes or flourish excel. You would also need fertilizers.

  • Do you have to trim the carpet, how long does it get?

  • @MriBackup Yes I had to trim it. This video is a year old, I eventually removed the carpet because it kept getting too long and trimming it was a pain. I would have a thousand little pieces floating around and it seemed like I could never get them all out.

  • @tyler361549 Thanks for the info

  • @tyler361549: really? shorter photo period them? I'm thinking about doing something similar with a 29g or a 10g, but I'm worried that I may get a lot of algae with slow growing plants like HC.

  • So, how much algae do you get and how often do you scrape your glass with that razor?

  • @elmonoborracho When my tank was like that algae wasn't really a problem. I maybe cleaned the glass once every 3 weeks or so. That razor isn't for scrapping the glass.....too small. I think I used it to cut the plastic part on the back of one of those glass canopies. I should say algae wasn't an ongoing problem. I had some outbreaks of staghorn and I think thread but I got them to go away.

  • Do you put Co2 in it?

  • @MriBackup Yes, you can see it at 1:44.

  • @tyler361549 thx

  • that can not be a 30 gallon.. to big

  • @kenyata It is!

  • hey are you using co2?

  • @Tang526 Yes, you can see it at 1:44.

  • @tyler361549 hey what does the co2 do?

  • @imtherealcolt Plants are made mostly of carbon so they need a good source of carbon if you want them to grow good. That what the co2 does, "carbon" dioxide.

  • wha filtration r u using?

  • @Elitetank87 Im using a fluval 205 canister filter, you can see it at 1:36.

  • could a rubber lip pleco fit in there?

  • @igobyjoey It could but I think it can get up to 10" so I probably wouldn't do it.

  • @tyler361549 I have alternate housings for it if it ever go that big, uncle has a 55.

  • @igobyjoey You can get one, it should leave plants alone and it probably wont even get that big anyways.

  • Dwarf Baby Tears or Hemianthus callitrichoides

  • what u use for the carpet plant

  • @guppietank15 Dwarf Baby Tears or Hemianthus callitrichoides

  • @g2gpce 36 1/4 x 12 5/8 x 16 3/4 inches

  • im thinking of getting a 30 gallon. is it stable on that dresser? how much does it weigh when full?

  • @brandonkr It is actually pretty stable on the dresser. It weighs about 340 lbs. Hopefully it doesn't collapse in the middle of the night, lol.

  • Alright...I know some of you guys are gonna hate me for this...BUT I need the views so head on over to my channel just to have a look! Watch a couple of videos and comment what you think...I love hearing from you guys!

  • plz help me! how do u grow baby tears like ur. ;( mines are not doing too good. also i dont hav fish yet, and im puming alot of CO2 i mean alot, is it bad, and i cant really slow it down, cus is a DIY CO2 one. plz help me. send me a privet msg or reply to this thnks!

  • @starthi What substrate are you using?

  • @tyler361549@starthi right now they r on a rock tht i got from petco, but i hav a pretty good substrate, from petsmart.

  • @starthi Well you should put them in the substrate and add fertilizers. What kind of substrate do you have, rocks, dirt, flourite?

  • @tyler361549 yea i have flurite stuff, im afried to take them out of the rock, cus it look fragile, and how do u plant them they r so small? how did u start to grow ur like tht?

  • @starthi I just broke them into little patches and put them on top of the substrate and then just sprinkled a little substrate on top of them to hold them down. From what I read though, they spread and fill in faster if you plant them one by one but that can take forever so I just do it the easy way.

  • dont you use air pump or air stone?is it really necessary to use one?

  • @lasteve99 You want to inject carbon dioxide for plants, not oxygen.

  • @tyler361549 how?do i need something to do that?btw thanks..

  • @lasteve99 You can use a tank like I show at 1:45 in this video but that is expensive. To start out you can try the DIY method which is cheap. Search gmluv9 and the second video down is called CO2 diy, you can get an idea of how to do it by watching his video.

  • nice tank...i can never get live plants to grow in mine

  • @bloodowrm Try a really easy one first. I recommend any anubias.

  • How do you clean a tank like that? How do you syphon the bottom with all the plants?

  • @buddhasknowbest I just push the gravel vac down on top of the plants and a lot of stuff comes up. Of course I don't stick it all the way into the gravel because that would suck the plants up. The one I have on the bottom has shallow roots.

  • nice tank...

  • @Thezoecee Thanks

  • i think its incredibly funny that people will be so low-lifed as to flame on fish tank videos ,

really digging your tank man, u get a "like" because you have tetras :D

  • @trooperx666 Thank you!

  • i want to et into planting my tank but right now i have just black gravel as my substrate and i want to kno if the hc or any type or grass (hair grass mostly) could grow in it? or would i have to change it and if so how would i do tht?

  • @skaterg807 I don't think the black gravel would work well with HC and I don't know about hair grass. I would change it out but I don't really know how you could go about doing this. I would put the fish in a different container then empty the tank, dump out the old gravel, put the new substrate in, then fill it back up.

  • @tyler361549 ok thx and do you know any plants tht can grow in just gravel i know java fern but any others

  • @skaterg807 Try Cryptocoryne wendtii, Hornwort, Wisteria, Hygrophila polysperma, Water fern, and any anubias

  • no offense but that fish tank is hopeless, there are 10 tetras and nothing else, and where are the logs and things, there's one log and thats it, i made a better tank with rocks i found in my garden

  • @TheFlic80 Lol, ohh really? Lets see a video of this awesome tank of yours.

  • my hc looks pretty melted, i still have it sitting in the pot, i heard it can take like 2 months for it to adjust, was your's potted? did you dry start it? or did u get some that had already been submersed for awhile?

  • @johnnygstacks I got mine in pots from aquaiumplantsdotcom. I think they grow all of their plants submersed so I didn't have to worry about it adjusting to living under water.

  • i have those same lights, except the 48 inch fixture, just got a pot of hc yesterday.

What kind of substrate are you using?

Much success growing hc under this lighting?

  • @johnnygstacks My substrate is Aquasoil Amazonia. This light worked good for me except the HC didnt stay low. I think if you look at some of my other videos you can see how tall it got.

  • @papichancho1234 probably about 2 months then it just started growing up, so I took it out.

  • how long did your HC take to fill in like that?

  • Wow that's an really awesome tank!

Please check out my video i just uploaded it! nothing special but check it out and leave a comment :D

  • Awesome tank dude, I have a 30gallon tank on top of my dresser too! Except my PC is right across my bedroom. XD

  • Lol, thanks for the comment. Its the only place I could put the tank given the space I have. A 30 gallon tank weighs almost 350 lbs. filled with water so I'm just waiting for my dresser to collapse.

  • cute neons lol xD

  • How much were the lights and where did you get them from?

  • It was about $100 and I got it from Amazon.

  • Thanks ;]

  • looks great im hopeing to upgrade my 20 gallon long to 30 gallon u think its worth it?

  • Yeah it seems a lot bigger but the cost can add up is you have to buy all new equipment.

  • yh i guess but my filter is ok and same with my heater i think just have to wait and see can u tell my the dimensions of ur tank please

  • Sure its 36 1/4 x 12 5/8 x 16 3/4

  • Nice set up

    Keep up the Good Work

  • @jkennedy1007 Thanks, I will

  • @tyler361549

whats the plants used to cover the bottom?

  • The plant used to cover the bottom is called Hemianthus callitrichoides, Dwarf Baby Tears, or just HC.

  • awesome tank man!

    just wondering

how do you vacuum it when theres so much plant at the bottom?

Im planing on having a bunch of micro sword for my 29 gal

  • @lich610 Thanks. I dont really worry about vacuuming the bottom too much but if I just push down on the plants I can see a bunch of stuff getting sucked up. So basically I just smash the plants with the tube to get it closer to the ground and it picks up the debris.

  • @lich610 I say smash because the plants are about 3x as tall now, I need to trim them.

  • ur tank looks awesome bro. im about to tear my tank down again. too much of algae.

  • Thanks, dont give up!

  • ah decided to change sizes and type of plants huh? good choice of plants and drift wood...as for me i gotta back into it again..

  • Thanks
