I am :-) training to be a tech :-) also anyway I hope I have better luck :-)then you my friend :-) oh it sounds :-) like the jobs not the bad part its the people not speaking English. :-) oh and did I mention :-) :-) :-)
Wow... I can related; however I havent had to deal with anyone that doesnt speak English.... I don't work in a retail pharmacy either, but I work with people and even those that speak English don't understand sometimes..... Have a great weekend Steve:) jackie
Only in Florida do pureblooded Umurikins have to learn 18 languages just to buy a loaf of bread. Or worse yet, hire someone to mow your lawn. It's like English is a secondary language here. Hello? Buenos dias? Buenos nachos? Saj Makanya? Schpreckin ze Deutch? Rarroo?
The language barrier, bet you've had plenty of funny moments. Your job can't be that bad, look at how happy you are,....you must have a GREAT family life, cause you glow, Steve. Your personality brings a smile to my face when I watch you.
Has the pharmacy considered making up lists of 5 most frequently asked questions in different languages? When a customer comes in, you can pull out the paper and point to the question. (yes or no questions) a shake of the head will get your answer.
The problem is the rapid pace of a modern retail pharmacy, we are under so much pressure to fill as many prescriptions in as little time as possible that we lack the luxury of spending time with the individual customer. Quite honestly, Lisa, it's about greed, how many prescriptions can we fill, how much money can we make for the company, as quickly as possible. There's literally no time to consult a pamphlet, we're under intense pressure to sell these medicines as many and as fast as possible!
Well, Susan, we do have a pamphlet of common phrases in different languages, but the rapid pace of a retail pharmacy (everyone shows up at once, everyone wants to wait for their prescriptions, and there are long lines, as the phone rings incessantly and cars line up in the drive-thru) makes it impractical to stop and try to look things up with all those folks waiting. They get angry, having become accustomed to an "instant fast food" modern world and no one has the patience to wait! Sadly.
That is a crappy job, but mine is crappier. I can't even talk about it in public. See how crappy that is? I can't do a ranting video about it, though I would love to. It's so crappy! Maybe I need to enter this contest?
This is why I farm. I understand dirt & it don't argue with you.(smile) Long, lonely, hours in the fields.(smile) Eating dust and sweating from the heat (smile) working from dark to dark(smile) and Sleeping like a baby!!! GREAT VIDEO Steve! I love it! Give me the medicine!!
working with the public is a real pain, but I beat that with the sheer bordom of cardboard packing inserts! You knowwhen you buy a box os like items, bottles of whisky, there is a partion between the bottles? Well, one of the jobs I had was making these from card with slits in them, and my job was to slot these together. All day! With no one to talk too!!! I really hated it & when I was paid off after 9 weeks, I was happy!!! Love from Scotland 5* for tash =)
LOL but ouch Paul that sounds like one heckuva tedious, monotonous job! Glad you survived to become the Royal Chef, now there's a vocation fit for a king! Or something like that. Haha, have a terrific weekend, friend! :)
Steve, you've broadened my perspective ... I've never really considered how tedious a pharmacist's job must be ... I know I'd be terrible at it! I'm glad to see your stache is coming back, I missed that little fella -- :D
Bet Ur jobs getting worse with the health care reform...probably lot's of meds not covered anymore? People crying cuz they cant get prozac? LOL Screaming in pain cuz they can't get pain med? Men losing their girl friends cuz They can't get...Viagra? ROTFL!!!
Well, Steve, regarding your mention of a life crisis---I certainly hope the best for you and yours. And of course if you want to discuss it, we're all out here for you. Peace.
no job can any bad than my career..Im a Corp litigation Paralegal..So, on top of dealing with litigation, like drafting motions, preparing discovery (rogs) and legal coding, I have to deal with stuck up attorneys!!
I work at a pizza place and the worst I have is the occasional hispanic who doesn't speak any English. It's really tough if I have to call them for directions because they SAY Yes to any yes or no question you ask them.
If they come in to order they just usually point at what they want on the menu board.
Thanks so much, Joe. I think I'll be having some time to reacquaint myself with the guitar, in the very near future, so we'll say what happens. You're the greatest, friend, thanks for stopping by! :)

yeah that language barrier thing sucks. have you thought of making a card that says common questions and answers in the most common languages?
